Has anyone received their copy of the black 1xLP or 2xLP yet? any comments on audio quality?

Actually quite the opposite – when this leaked, there was a Discord mod who was going around and advising everyone to not listen to it, because he “knows the band” and could confirm that they were “disappointed” with the leak.  But it was just Discord drama and gatekeeping bullshit… much to no one’s surprise.  A brand new interview / podcast released today - here - confirms that Efrim thinks that dude is a fucking weirdo for lying, and that he was already intending to release the album digitally at some point, himself.

Just wanted to do this off topic post because I know most people will appreciate the heads up and maybe missed it mentioned in a couple of other threads. But yeah, dark theme is live. The fun part is that Andrew Schwab has no part in this vinyl issue whatsoever.
Long story short, I learned awhile back that licensing rights for vinyl don't really require any permission outside of an agreement with the publishing rights holders. It is more complicated than that (and infamously capitol EMI is apparently a nightmare to deal with for any and all T&N-releated reissues). 
 
Randy, Alex, and Steven don't require Schwab's permission to do this. It is literally a separate project they spearheaded. Hilariously Schwab had no idea until it dropped today. He's telling people on Patreon "we will get to the bottom of this" and "this is bootleg." lmao.
 
Delicious KARMA imo. Last year's DBL "celebration" amounted to just Andrew, no og members, a ridiculous $250 per ticket covid distanced concert, a "sit down dinner with the band", and ofc the fabulous banning of Steven and Randy from the P86 facebook page for daring to criticize Schwab's shitshow. I'm really happy those three dudes are doing this. 
 

I'm calling peak vinyl. Pre-order delays, re-issues, overstocks on RSD/Black Friday etc are killing it now. Glad I'm getting out.

I echo what everybody is saying. Seems as if his Daughters bandmates knew this was coming recently going on *hiatus*? Also seeing as Kristen reached out to them and she was ignored. Disgusting!

When they forced the shipping policies there was no way to account for the fact that there are no flat rates with Canada Post (there were similar issues with other countries), after a long back and forth with Discogs support they straight up told me that they know the shipping policies don't integrate properly with Canada Post and that they had no intention of fixing it.

I still use Discogs to catalogue my collection, but I stopped selling the day they enforced the shipping policies.  I wasn't a huge seller, but usually had around 100 or so up for sale, and sold 1-2 a week.

Why they don't integrate with PayPal's shipping tools is beyond me, they introduced the shipping policies to appease PayPal but won't actually make use of the tools a partnership with PayPal affords them.

There is a good chance, they've said before that they're not interested in keeping anything they've put out 'rare'.  But that a big thing for them right now is the vinyl cost/delays.  So I would bet it will be repressed someday, but not any time soon.

One thing that...definitely drives me up the fucking wall with the spine, alphabetizing, etc. I have my A's on the right and Z on the left.

It sounded fucking awesome on my AirPods Pro with Spatial Audio on. I'm not sure it was mimicking 5.1 but it sounded incredible. 

I thought it was fantastic!  I loved how the songs were significantly different than the album versions.  I felt like it had a good balance between the narrative and the performance.  Looked gorgeous.  If you've been following the lore it answered some questions and added some new ones.  Literally my only gripe is that the end of On Jupiter wasn't longer.

It happens more than you think.  IIRC O'Brother left a box of 300 7in in a field while on tour, the total pressing was something like 500.

I probably see 2-3 bands/labels a year mention that they've found a box of unopened records.
