Official Record Store Day Thread
ethanpricington replied to timsimmons's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Exactly. I thought I read somewhere that it was in Playtones court now for some reason. Idk it doesn't make sense to me. If the test presses are done/approved. Then that means money was already in the budget for the press. Literally it would be like printing money. I swear these majors careless about printing money and more about finding the next big thing. -
Official Record Store Day Thread

Yet another year passes by and still no That Thing You Do! OST. At this point I'm going to be some old man years from now waiting on the god-damn 50th Anniversary press or something. Literally screw whoever is holding that process up. Also, I can't go this year and was hoping for another year of crap so I wouldn't have FOMO. I was this close to success when I get to the very bottom and see the first pressing ever of The Verve Pipe album 😑At least it's an 'RSD First' and will have a wider release later on in case I miss getting a copy online. -
PO NOW : Linkin Park - Meteora 20th anniversary
ethanpricington replied to archiced's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
The fact that they didnt include the Live In Texas 2xLP in the 'vinyl boxset' is a bit upsetting. But alas, looks like I will be dropping $200+ at some point to get the super deluxe as Live In Texas is one of my grails... I cried like a fucking baby man. The lyrics were heartbreaking too. Alot of his lyrics have hit so much harder following his passing 😪 -

Same. Haha they were just handing anyone who came in for the listening party a free flexi/poster at my local shop, I guess one of the few pros of being in a small city lol I thought the record was pretty good, but similarly need a good second listen. My first reaction though was it was definitely more chill than anything they've done previously (including After Laughter) Also, I dont recall Hayley's vocal shining as much as they typically do at some point on a record. -
I'm not a huge fan of Elliott Smith, so not sure if this sounds like him...but after first listen I feel like Winter EP just sounds like some the most Weezer songs the bands put out since White album. Loved 'I Want a Dog' and 'Dark Enough to See the Stars' as well as 'The Deep and Dreamless Sleep'. I feel like there's a really solid album if you essentially take the standouts from each EP.

Yea digging this one even more. Random opinion: the album artwork really sucks. And it bums me out. -
No complaints here! My mom is the same way. Every now and then she tries to say something like "Dont you know my generation was at the peak of vinyl?" And I typically say something like "yea but haven't you realized my generation is the one whose perfected it" 😏

I'm both proud and a little disappointed in the fact that each of the early comments/answers on this post are completely helpful and respectful. In my 8+ years on this forum, that may be a first given the nature of the OG post...

Every Time I Die - Album 9
ethanpricington replied to ethereal's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
1000% yes. And here in a year when all 3 bands somehow play the same show, after their sets, The OG, Hot Damn lineup, ETID will reunite and play "Floater" to close the entire show. It'll be our 'Endgame' moment... -
Vagrant 25 Years Vinyl Represses
ethanpricington replied to hyperg1ant's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Agreed. In fact, I'm not sure if it was just timing and coincidence that it lined up with some pretty big/shitty moments in my life, but I consider it my favorite, front-to-back, of their discography so far... -

Cmon man, all you gotta do is imagine you're listening to an inferior version of Pink Floyd and it makes it all better... -
Gotta love a good fight over misunderstanding/interpretation/poor wording. VC at it's best! But also, I never knew there was no resolution for those who funded the kickstarter. That is sooooo messed up. Literally no one has ever rec'd a response from the band? They just don't seem like the type of dudes to do that. Very disappointing

PO: Third Eye Blind - Unplugged
ethanpricington replied to beardacus's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Same here. We must be about the same age because my connection to 3EB was purely off the radio hits/singles too. And beginning in 2001 with my discovery of Linkin Park and 'heavier' music, my listening to anything my mom listened to in the 90s was immediately "boring" lol. Which is ironic (pun intended) as I'm in love with all that stuff from the 90s now and have a specific section of my collection dedicated to it. Anyways, it wasn't until like 2004/2005 when He Is Legend covered "Wounded" did I discover Blue. And similarly, it wasn't until 2010+ before I started exploring S/T & Blue in their entirety. We saw them live in OKC in 2017 for 30th Anniversary Tour of S/T. It was a magical night and Stephen and the band actually sounded great (I was a bit worried lol) I do remember listening to Ursa Major right after it's release in 2009 (probably because I was downloading anything new from LimeWire at the time). I enjoyed a few songs - checkout "Don't Believe a Word", "Bonfire" and "Dao of St. Paul". They're your typical 3EB stuff. -

Also, you can count me in the minority who liked Out of the Vein in '03. I also liked a few songs from Ursa Major & Dopamine. And they're cover of Happy Diving's "10" on Thanks For Everything was the most 3EB they've sounded in a while. -
