It's an excellent album. I've listened to the first two LPs (black and blue), and am saving the third for just the right time. It's not derivative--it feels very much of the time (I was a college DJ in the mid-80s, and this album would have been in heavy rotation).

Documentarian, writer, and director Gorman Bechard and his crew captured this energy along with some choice interviews with the band members in his concert documentary entitled "What Did You Expect?" Now, four years later, the Archers are making a limited edition vinyl pressing of that weekend entitled "Curse of the Loaf" available direct to their fans in mid-July through Port Merchandise. The double vinyl gatefold package consists of 180 gram black vinyl, a copy of the "What Did You Expect?" DVD, and a replica of the original concert poster designed by artist Paul Friedrich. HOLY FUCK. I love Soul Coughing. Strange anecdote. I was listening to a live session of Sylvan Esso on KEXP when the DJ asked them who they listen to on the road in the van. She said they listen to Soul Coughing more than anything else. Mad respect.

Guessing these are their loss leaders. Hoping The National and a few others hit that table soon.

It was a great show. Only the third time I've seen them in 28 years, and I plan to see them every chance I get going forward.

I made the mistake of listening to this album this morning after spending the day with my eldest brother in the hospital yesterday. He had heart ablation performed. Went well, but still, hearing "We're all gonna die" today precipitated some lachrymosity.
