  1. There were a couple spots where it sounded like one of the guitars cut out. I figured it was from a faulty cable or something, but I feel like they're professional enough to make sure that kind of shit doesn't happen.
  2. This is why I try to be nice to people every day. A lot of people do not do that.
  3. You're more forgiving than I if you're calling that cardboard lol.
  4. damn, this ASA is really fucking killer. The end of this song is just so tremendous. and holy shit, this Rioseco. Wow. Now that I'm hearing a live version, the foundation of this song with the bass guitar makes me think of Pink Floyd; the pacing and note choice is very reminiscent of Roger Waters' approach. Much different stuff over top. But holy cow this song...
  5. I've had that album spinning in my car for the last 3-4 days. It's absolutely wonderful. Just some lilting, ethereal Rosetta bliss that builds into some tectonic peaks at the end of Soot and in Pegasus. I kinda wish Rosetta explored the chill, swampy psychedelic side of their sound a little more thoroughly like they did on this release, ESPECIALLY now with the stuff they were able to come up with for Quintessential Ephemera with Eric in the band.
  6. We were talking about Cult of Luna earlier in this thread, asshole.
  7. If anybody needs to pick up a copy of You Are The Conductor, TMS has them on sale for only 9.99 for another hour and 18 minutes. http://mylenesheath.com/products/you-are-the-conductor-lp
  8. Just scored a copy of "Somewhere Along The Highway" by Cult of Luna for $60 shipped. Stoked!!!!
  9. So this Pet Slimmers of the Year stuff is like SUPER Isis, with a different vocalist. I'm closing my eyes, and holy fuck, this is Isis. At least through the first track. I've been waiting for music like this, but it's soooo weird NOT hearing Aaron's voice over these grooves. The music doesn't seem to develop quite as rapidly as Isis tunes, which is interesting (despite some Isis tunes taking a long time to build). Can't wait to check out the rest of this album.
  10. I kind of think you have to be a mad scientist to write music like he does. As a musician, I don't get how they fucking do it. I wish I could make stuff like they do.
  11. I don't know how you get that I think I've been listening to post-rock for years; I haven't. I've never claimed to. Not sure where that comes from at all. You can't force me out of here by trying to be some elitist dick to rally the vets in ostracizing me. We're all allowed to have our opinions. Mine is different than yours. That doesn't mean you have to act like a condescending elitist towards me, because lets be honest, that's what you're doing. I have no bullshit to dial back; I state my opinions, and you make fun of me because I think differently than you. That's literally all that's happening here man. Caspian is one of my favorite bands too, and just because you've been listening to them longer and have a bigger collection doesn't mean your approach to them is any more correct than mine or anybody else's.
  12. Just got an email from Kings Road. Records now due in AFTER Christmas. Jesus fucking christ.
  13. I like this thread better; you guys are more tolerant of my freakouts, haha. Dude, don't even fucking JOKE about that. Throwing on "Arterias" right now. This is very good. It makes me think of In The Absence of Truth/Panopticon a little bit. Me likey. Surely, I'll have a hyperbolized reaction later one once I'm deeper in.
  14. You're absolutely correct in that their fanbase is quite honestly THE FUCKING WORST. I'm in a shitty place, because I love their music, and fucking hate the scene. So many people disregard the music and talk over the band. They spent $70 to have some cool hip background noise to their conversations and attempts at picking up chicks. You guys don't even WANT to know about rage sticks/rage totems. It's seriously the worst. Matt, you're probably right. It's probably just greediness haha. But I think it goes back to what I'm used to; your formative concert years were spent engaged in a different paradigm than mine were. It's just a different approach. The thing with the jamming is that, yeah, it can be aimless noodling, but when they get it right and catch the magic, holy shit it's the most brilliant, triumphant fucking thing imaginable. And that's the point: it's elusive. They're taking a risk. Sometimes, its fucking terrible. More often than not, it's great, and those few handfuls of times, its fucking transcendent and heavenly. THAT is what they're after. But again, we're used to different things. Neither of which are bad, they're just different. And don't try to hit me with some snide condescending remark that I didn't "bother" to see them on this last tour, dick
  15. Thanks man, I was already late for work this morning haha. Can't. Stop. VC'ing. EDIT: Faaack, nothing on the East Coast, except the Quebec date, which is also the same date as my David Gilmour show in NYC. Grrrrr
  16. Just got my black copy of "The Quietest Place On Earth" from Grindhead Recs in Australia. Good lord, I hope the rest of you who ordered one specifically asked for the records to be shipped outside of the jacket, otherwise I'm scared to know what shape your jacket will be in. The dude shipped the record in a glorified manilla folder kind of thing, all floppy and taped-together. No cardboard. The plastic sleeve took a beating; it's creased and split 1/4 down the side, as did the corners of the jacket. No seamsplits because he shipped them outside of the jacket, but man... I got the package this morning before I left for work and was like "OH NO'S!!!!" Suuuuuuuuper super nice dude who runs the label, but wowww @ this shipping practice. It's funny how some people value the condition of records, and some people don't.
  17. In case you guys haven't read this yet: http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/23252-deafheavens-kerry-mccoy-grasping-at-hooks?page=1
  18. Fuck!!! YES!!!! Where did you find this info? I ***NEED*** to see this band again. That was one of the most intense things I've ever seen.
  19. Yeah I get what you're saying, I think the problem is that for the longest time, I was only seeing Phish and other jambands who play 3 hour, 2-set shows, and that's just my norm now. When I see other bands now, its lie "alright! First sets over, lets take a break and.... oh wait. Fuck." I just want more, haha. I have no doubt about their ability to deliver quantity AND quality. That's the art of the 2-set show, though. You craft the setlist to cater to that format. So you don't necessarily go balls to the wall right out of the gate. Its just funny how people's backgrounds differ in how they approach things. Like, for me, when you say Sycamore gets 4 extra minutes, I half think to myself "That's it?" Haha, only because when Phish takes things out, I'm ready to dance for 20 minutes or more. They did a 37-minute version of their song Tweezer back in 2013 that is one of the greatest live achievements they've ever accomplished, with whole distinct sections and movements and catchy melodies and somehow, the entire thing never loses steam. Its bonkers. I would love it if Caspian did live jams like that, really stretching grooves out and seeing what they can come up with. Like, "Sad Heart of Mine" could totally be 10 minutes, and that would rule. But that's because we have different backgrounds, and are kind of accustomed to different things as far as concerts go. As far as rotation of the songs, could you elaborate a little more on that? I'd love to know what he said (if there's more to it than what you posted). I mean, I really only know that I bugged them about adding Loft to the setlist on Facebook and Phil said they'd do it, and then I was the asshole who couldn't even get to a show. I feel like I just blew my chance at seeing that tune because I couldn't get work off for any of the dates.
  20. I tried messaging them on their Etsy store a while back but heard nothing. No worries, I got it coming from Denovali for a great price. I just wish I knew how long until the Daturah records will be ready.
  21. These guys REALLY need to bite the bullet and "grow up" so-to-speak, and enter the land of 2-set shows. I mean, Phish... Rush, the Grateful Dead offshoots, Primus, even old death metal bands like Nile are finally getting the clue. There is just TOO much tremendous music being neglected here. I mean, I know I wouldn't have ANY issue dropping $25-$40 to see 2.5 hours of Caspian. Could you imagine? Spun this album twice at work today, though. What a masterpiece. It's such a different thing for them, with the regular vocals and a lot of more chill, low-key slow burn-y songs.
  22. I have the red with black swirl ADOM and I'm spinning it right now. I might put on my rainbow splatter Wake/Lift next Even though it's a bit warped, it still plays perfectly. It might be my favorite-looking record of all time. Every time I put it on, I truly think it is their best album. But that might simply because of the fact that it contains the song "Untitled III" and the song "Untitled V". Made out of nothing......
  23. Clear orange sounds delicious for Rosetta.... Really bummed about my slightly warped rainbow splatter. Those things NEVER got on sale. I guess there was another reason why the dude was only asking 50E for it, despite the cover being scrunched from shipping.
  24. Yeah dude, me too. These guys are killer at writing songs. I'm dying to see them play this shit live.
