I enjoyed the Wisp ep the few times I've listened to it, and knowing that these are 'collaborations' with her vocals and other bands' instrumentations doesn't so much hamper me liking the sound of it, but it would at least make me hesitant about going to a show, not knowing if there would be any sort of cohesive band. It would also halt a blind buy of her future music, as she tries to actually learn to play instruments - which she said she is now doing. Who knows if she'll live up to the hype and praise she's being given or will justify some people's distain. Time will tell.

Howso? In what way? Please elaborate for those of us that heard about Wisp like a week ago?

People will argue with you but won't be able to name a different band responsible for the nügaze movement.

But Pipe Dreams Redux is probably above Feels Like You to me. All 3 splits and the Muta/Blue Sugar single would make an incredible comp.

I've been listening to a lot of Whirr lately, and I've got a few thoughts.
1. I miss the good old days
2. In hindsight, they are the reason all of indie music shifted towards shoegaze. Ride and Slowdive reunion albums and countless new bands would not have happened without Whirr making shoegaze the indie zeitgeist of the last decade. 
3. They will never get credit for point 2 because they are 'Canceled' 
4. Despite point 3 they sold out of everything they have released post G.L.O.S.S.GATE, and they have ~850,000 monthly listeners on spotify. 
5. Point 4 should logically make no sense because of Point 3, but it kind of just makes me depressed as hell because it's proof that this band got railroaded by their labels and the music media over some straight up nonsense that got turned into a sociopolitical warzone and they were the only casualty. I hope they get the money and recognition they deserve at some point. Despite there being hundreds of new shoegaze bands, I never hear Whirr named as an influence but the sonic influence is in everything.

We just need a Soft Kill thread at this point with how fast they crank out releases.

2nd press /500 gold is up now - to ship the same time as the first. I have yet to be let down by a SK release.

I bought sunbather without listening to it first just after the initial hype of the album, and I listened to it a dozen times on 33.3 blown away by how heavy and sludgy it was until I realized it was pressed at 45. I ended up taking uncompressed WAVs of the album and making FLACs of it slowed down to match playing it at 33.3.

Believe me or not, I have never heard "Sunbather", somehow it was beyond my interest. So I bought 10th Anniversary edition and spun it yesterday, it was really good. And today, looking at the turntable, something told me - "wasn't it supposed to be 45, by the way?" 😵
This way, I bought two albums at the same time - guess I like the second better, though.

I first heard Dreamhouse because the guy who runs Dark Descent Records (home of Spectral Voice, Blood Incantation, and other OSDM revival stuff that rules) was posting something about it, and all of the trv3 kvlt kydz were losing their fucking minds over this band not being "real metal" in the comments. 

I want to say it was a Pitchfork article, I'm not even sure if the whole album had come out yet.  But I 1000% remember exactly where i was and what i was doing when I heard that first major chord come in under the blastbeats, and i was like "What the FUCK is this!!!!!"

I was hooked instantly.  Fuck the trends.  Fuck the trv3 kvlt losers.  I still love Darkthrone and Emperor and Entombed and I love Deafheaven and Phish and the Grateful Dead too.  Fuck all of the boundaries and rules.  Music rules.
