Does anyone still have a complete Converge collection out there? Surely someone. There was a time when I had every variant of Axe To Fall, but gave up and backed out of variant hoarding by the time the 3rd press or so was rolled out. More power to anyone still staying diligent though. I don't partake, but I enjoy seeing an array of options made available for new fans or anyone who slept on the record. I'd have to imagine an 11-variant rollout for something like Jane Doe – which has become the in-demand Converge album, yet again – would break banks and cause a lot of scuttling.

Please don't tell me that someone legitimately submitted a mod report for that exchange.
edit // I think (and hope) report it to us just refers to airing out the laundry here on VC. It would be pretty funny if someone was tilted enough to report something to the mods here though.

You just didn't go through the proper channels. What you should've done is post that Amazon link on one Facebook group to vet it out, and then repost that same post in another group. Once you get through two layers of Amazon spam, you're clear for a Reddit post.

Is it going to show up again soon with an affiliate link from one of you?
I mean, that's a valid question. 😂
That sub and its rules can roll dice. Always assumed its par for the course for any other sub on reddit: moderated by middle-aged men with little-to-no control in their lives offline, obsessed over splitting hairs over community rules. A tale as old as time... or at least, the internet.
But yeah, Randy – should've just waited for the album to go up on Wal-Mart's site, so you could spam affiliated links for it. 🥴 Lesson learned, I hope!

Salt in the wound: found my Hot Topic email receipt from 2011. Their S/T exclusive was $20.99. Basically $27 out the door with taxes and shipping.

The annoying part there is that for huge bands like Deftones, there is even less impact of "voting with your dollar" than, say, an overpriced record on Deathwish or Hello Merch. Artists like Deftones know how wide their reach is, and that it stretches beyond market-savvy vinyl enthusiasts. There are plenty of people out there who do not buy vinyl often, so they have no problem shelling out $30, $40, even $50 for a single LP because it's officially licensed on a fancy color. (Or sometimes not. Nine Inch Nails' pricing is pretty rough too, for just black vinyl reissues.)
With any overpriced record, for every 1 reasonable person "voting with their wallet", there's 10 who have no problem taking their spot. And I feel like that ratio is even steeper with artists like Deftones. I'm happy to still have that Hot Topic variant for this one, so I'm not losing sleep over trying to cop another one. Someone tag me when they make a 45 RPM double LP that's ruby red translucent and coke bottle blue for $30.

I was wondering what was going on with these represses. Glad they're finally closer to fruition. The year has been zooming by for me... I'm sure those preorders will feel like they're right around the corner. Hopefully everything goes smooth with the manufacturing.

Bummed I missed the PN variants. Waiting for Zia to post the indie. Up at Bullmoose but I’m too lazy to research if they’re still anti-worker.
Hasn’t been a thing for a year or more.

Great comp, that’s an easy snag at $18 + shipping.

Who all copped this? I see copies surfacing in the wild and they honestly look so good. I’m not imagining that the mock-up was a fail that marbled grey… but someone must’ve spent the last 8 months getting the perfect amount of pellets in the mix, because the pics I’ve seen have all been right on the money.
Also it’s cool to see them match the doodle font with the “20th Anniversary” text on the cover. I’m sure a lot of folks would prefer no mention of the anniversary on their cover art, but at least it’s not egregious. Anyone remember those Underoath represses that had the giant gold bar on the top (bottom?) of the art? Good times.

Last one was APR15. MAY15 may be the new one. If you’re worried they may correct (bump) the pricing up to match every other retailer, you can use AMOEBA10 for 10% off right now. I believe that one is always good.

I always heard that clear […] sounded the worst
For whatever reason I see this grossly mistaken stance shared out on Reddit where it’s spread like wildfire. I’m not saying there aren’t clear records out there that sound bad – they sure can, just like badly pressed black vinyl – but I have an overwhelmingly positive history with (a lot of) clear records. I think the majority of people insisting it sounds bad are echoing the pandemic collectors on Reddit, who probably don’t own clear vinyl. [Or at the very least, certainly never spin it for themselves.]

First single Emotion Sickness is out there. Not my speed personally but production felt beefier than Villians.
I don't think I love[d] it either, but I will admit that I sorta' warmed up to its chorus by the second time it popped up. Decent song, not necessarily blown away or anything. Waiting for it to debut on streaming services before giving it another listen. I think that'll happen tomorrow morning, along with a proper PO.

I’ll PO the record on Friday so they can maximize income as long as BC still does Bandcamp Fridays. Right?
Only the first Friday of every month. 5/5 just passed by, so the next one won’t be until 6/2.

Didn't that get suspended last year and was still under review or is it definitely in effect for 2023?
Yes. I haven't heard about it being reinstated this year, and was under the impression it was still up for review and potential revisions.

Honestly I think this is just because of the language barrier. Germans are... a bit more direct than Americans, generally speaking.
This dude's welcome to stay on the forum if he plans on contributing, and not just bumping his own thread as if VC is his personal Facebook page or something.
I was definitely entertaining that possibility as well, but also noticed that he has no real interest posting in any other thread – which, to be fair, are wildly out of his demographic – and seems to have a sassy response to every reply. I understand firing back at the trolls having their fun, but he's been a lil' bitch to even the neutral responses that are politely entertaining his threads that he keeps bumping. I'm all for some newbie leniency but this guy just sucks. 🤷♂️

Just to clarify any confusion here, for anyone keeping score at home.
• whoa is a great member of the community.
• It is not whoa’s responsibility to spoon-feed links or forum fundamentals to new users. If you plan on continuing to clog up the forums, at least learn how to perform basic searches or familiarize yourself with the guidelines. You shouldn’t need anyone to hold your hand through that. “Give a man a fish / teach a man to fish…”, etc.
• B_big is in fact posting dank musty crap anyone can acquire from a dad's clear out of the bargain bin. (And it does not take an elitist or tastemaker to confirm this.)
• Nothing “redneck” has been said by whoa at any point. Weird reach.
• Let it be known that OP’s entire air and demeanor has been rudely defensive since they showed up and began posting on VC. A firm lesson in Consider treating others the way you want to be treated.

I love the way they have done clear vinyl with matching smoke whisps for all their covers. Very aesthetically pleasing to me.
So, so much better than splatter galore.
[edit]
Couldn’t tell from your post if you’ve never listened to Lacing, or if it was just Never that you hadn’t checked out. If you end up digging the full EP, I’d highly suggest trying out 2019’s Without, if you haven’t yet. It’s pretty droney at times but its strongest tracks root is as my favorite Lacing release to date… though this EP is a pretty close second. Copies of Without were silly-cheap a while back, too.

To my knowledge, all presses of DIH – black or blue – sound fantastic. It is pretty funny that the blue copies (which were much easier to secure) seem to have sold more than the limited black ones, on the aftermarket. Variant demand too stronk.
Speaking of variants, I'm not sure what Matt is cooking up but I hope he keeps it classy and simple with these new reissues. Really don't need any crazy swirls, marble, or splatter bullshit. One-tone colored variants have been my thing for a while now – I'd love to see maybe a white or clear Electra, a green or teal YPAA, and some shade of purple for Inlet. Maybe that's me being boring, I don't really care. (Also interested to see if he does another round of the same blue DIH.) I know these will sound killer regardless of what color they may be. I'm just casting these out there to see how close or off I am when preorders drop.
