If I were to "Ask a Question" and inquire as to why he's such an asshole, what's the probability of getting an answer in return? Anyone?
-
Just giving you a hard time. I'd love to work something out with you, but I'm in no position to be spending this kind of cash right now. Any offer I PM'd you would redefine your definition of lowball entirely.
Hope you can find a seller and good price for it, though.

Elaborate on way better deal...

Black's a classic, but I can't justify yet another purchase of this album. Is this the third or fourth press? Hopefully everyone who wants this record will now have a chance to snag it at retail value.
-
If These Trees Could Talk's self-titled is also getting repressed early next year, too, for whoever wanted that.
I'd be absolutely thrilled to see;
Glassjaw's Worship and Tribute finally pressed.
Brand New's Your Favorite Weapon repressed.
Coheed & Cambria's The Second Stage Turbine Blade and In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 repressed. Alternatively, a vinyl boxset with all of their albums would suffice.
Thrice vinyl should be in constant press and rotation. They're too good to be OOP or unobtainable to legitimate fans and listeners.
Also stoked for the Oceanic repress.

How much of the cost is actually determined by the venue? That's generally the killer for me. I've paid $35 and $12 to see the same band at different venues.
-
I would shamefully pay $15 to own this EP on a 12". My expectations were pretty high, and I still feel like it delivered (and then some). Anyone hear anything on a possible vinyl press?

It is illegal or at least against their terms of use. To report it click "report item" on the right side of the screen under seller info. Then select fraudulent listings > shill bidding > continue.
Thanks for the tip. I generally just roll my eyes and hope that the bidding doesn't get too out of control... but I'm going to start reporting it from here on out, I think.
my friend put up his P.TM - "Censored Colors" when it was going for around $80, and the winning bid was only like $35, so he told the guy he "accidentally dropped it and it broke" and gave him a refund. i still harass him about it all the time.Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was me! Goddamn it, I was going to post this story!
It was a purple with green splatter that I won in August of last year. Got it for $37.01 and the cunt claimed that he dropped it and it got a big scratch on it.
I was gonna tell him too bad and send it anyway because I fucking KNEW he was lying but I figured I should save the money anyway and I basically pussed out on putting up the fight but I'm still pissed about that.
Is his eBay name msolitz?
If it is, tell him to fuck himself in the face for me.
I second the lol. Love the twist of VC irony, here, but I'm sorry to hear you were scammed out of such a good buy. That's exceptionally lame. I wonder if someone genuinely has scratched / damaged / broke a record after a buyer has paid.

Does anyone else's order status look anything like this with declines before it states pre-ordered?
Just checked mine - it definitely doesn't resemble yours. All of mine are complete up until yesterday's... for which there's one single entry. Not sure what's going on, on your page. Weird.
-
how common do you think it is? So sellers are bidding on their items using someone else's account to jack up the price. They could get burned if they don't get a higher bid and have to eat the fees. I wonder if ebay checks to see if there is constantly the same bidder on someone's auctions. I guess a sure sign would be someone always putting up items that have "sold" before. I have been not paid before and re-listed, but that was only once.
why people got to be jerks?
In my opinion, that's why legitimate auctions are such a thrill. A record valued at $40 may sell for $10 one day, and $150 the next. If sellers are truly concerned about "eating the fees", they'll set a reserve.
The shill-bidding I'm referring to isn't the sort that "bumps" a $0.99 auction to generate interest. I'm talking about brand new accounts - the same account, even, with a whopping 2 feedback - constantly raising the price on records. Upping the ante even when said price for record is already fair or substantial. That's just greedy.
I'm all for sellers getting a fair value for their items. But they need to either set a reserve, or start the bidding at a price they can live with (in a worst case, no-bid scenario). Secretly inflating your own prices with either new accounts (or friends' accounts) is just petty.

The Solid Void does nothing for me, to be honest, but the Desert Beacon is all kinds of awesome. Wish I had the $90 to spare.
EDIT
Thanks for the link and heads up, batman.
-
I'm pretty burnt out on sellers who religiously use shill bidding. Shit's weak and should be illegal.
-
Cheers for the link. I just PM'd a member here on VC... if it doesn't pan out for whatever reason, I'll shoot that guy an e-mail. I appreciate the heads up.
EDIT
Whoops. Is it safe to assume the user enjoytheride would own the e-mail address [email protected]? Same dude; my bad.

Assuming my order actually went through and eventually shows up at my place, I'd be willing to trade a YTY(JFL) for a Jesus Glue. The only 7" I'm missing and can't seem to get a hold of, for the life of me.
-
If you missed out try again. Just bought a second one and it went smooth and easy.shit. went up again and still the empty carty. wtf is UP, merchdirect?!add to cart shows up. click add to cart,. "sold out" FUCKKKKK YOU
Essentially what the next four pages of this thread will look like.
-
Question. Has anyone else encountered this?
Added to cart, went to Checkout, selecting shipping, selected Paypal, went through all the appropriate Paypal screens... but upon completion, I was returned to Merchdirect page that said my order couldn't be processed. However, I just received two e-mails immediately afterward. One from Paypal saying that I authorized a payment. Another from MD saying my order was received. (Complete with a number.) Furthermore, the Lennon 7" is the last item added to my Account History... with a status of Preordered.
Not sure if I should be concerned or not.
But regardless, there's no way these are entirely gone already. I'm sure they'll be adding them randomly throughout the month a la Stars.

I don't want to be that guy, but it's absolutely mandatory.
In all seriousness, I personally appreciate you taking the time to create this thread. Would read future updates.

I recently purchased a fairly cheap ($25.00) self-assemble book case at Costco. The dimensions are perfect for records - height wise - but the jackets do stick out a half-inch or so, over the edge. This won't cause any damage to them in the future, will it?
I'm looking to hop on the Expedit bandwagon soon enough, myself. I've never been to an IKEA, and know very little about the Expedit line. Can someone confirm if this will have similar storage dimensions to all the 4x4 and 5x5 units? Just looking for something to namely hold my 12" records.

This thread has changed everything I know and feel about records.

Brief / personal recap.
$1,300 is a ridiculous reserve. Reserve, as in, the bare minimum he'll take? To each his own, I guess.
The Siren Song of the Counter Culture that netted $300 was insane. I'm assuming it was a BIN? I remember being iffy about the idea of spending $50+ on that record, way back when. Unless it gets repressed... I doubt I'll ever own it. But I can't say I'm losing sleep over it.
Dude who scored the Full Collapse test press for $26 is my hero.

Clear is the Maple exclusive I think.
As in, only Maple is selling clear copies? I snatched one from SRC. All three are up there, actually. Forgive me if I'm missing something.

Sounds amazing. But 10 AM... Eastern?

Damn straight you will.

I'm not in the UK, but I'm feeling that laggy shipping firsthand. I'm still waiting on a SRC order I placed three or four weeks ago. I'm a patient dude and in no rush, but still -- holiday shipping can be such a hassle.
