  1. I listened on a plane Friday, and just now via a bluetooth speaker at home. I liked what I heard on the first spin, I appreciate that it's not more of the same and isn't as bombastic as the last. Gonna need more spins to familiarize myself though as both plays were kind of passive listens, but I'm not disappointed. Might even pick it up on vinyl.
  2. THIS. Pretty terrible cover art IMHO, but looking forward to the music. And I'm with those just wanting a simple, well-executed vinyl release (if I choose to even buy it). The 10,000 Days CD packaging was obnoxious as fuck.
  3. I was about to say, just a few seconds into the song, that it sounds like Tom Petty. Yup, that too. None of his solo stuff has appealed to me, but I've only tried his first one, Reverse Shark Attack with Ty is ok.
  4. Announced last week but I'm just learning the news. https://shop.mexicansummer.com/product/allah-las-lahs/ Orange vinyl orders come with a signed cowpoke print while supplies last 1. Holding Patttern 2. Keeping Dry 3. In The Air 4. Prazer Em Te Conhecer 5. Roco Ono 6. Star 7. Royal Blues 8. Electricity 9. Light Yearly 10. Polar Onion 11. On Our Way 12. Houston 13. Pleasure
  5. It's like you've traveled back in time to the days of new release Tuesdays. Jealous! I'll be steaming it Friday I guess, while traveling to San Fran.
  6. Reviving this thread to express my love for the Thingy album that was released as part of this series. Noticed it appeared on Spotify a couple weeks ago and have been obsessed. Apparently it's a lost album of sorts, with many of the songs previously circulated as live bootlegs or whatever. What a fucking banger! Love this as much as Other Men's Wake Up Swimming, and tbh better than the two previous Thingy LPs. I said above that I hope the Other album is the 2nd LP from this series that will get a wider release, but now I hope it's this one!
  7. They did a 10-year Summer in Abaddon tour 5 years ago, so hopefully the current tour will not be album-specific. The last 2 times I've seen them have been album-specific tours and I'd love to just see them play an assortment this time around. ETA: The olive green looks good and the 7" would be great, but I already have standard black and the maroon.
  8. Apparently I haven't listened to anything from Snuff since Numb Nuts in 2000. Anything worth checking out? I'll certainly check out the samples for this when they're available. I never heard Hang, but Blaze and Resolve were pretty good. The single sounds pretty good. What I still really want from Fat Wreck (or anyone else) is a new Dillinger Four record though. Come on! But I'll settle for a live show somewhere in the PNW.
  9. Catalog will be on all streaming platforms August 2. I also just learned elsewhere that King Crimson's catalog is also streamable as of last month.
  10. I'm 43 y/o and I don't think I've ever listened to anything beyond the first 4 albums. I've heard some songs here and there, of course, but can't confirm I've ever listened to any full albums.
  11. Their aesthetic worked in the 90s. Not so much today. In fact based on the quality of that gold crap, they're going backward. I used to have an olive green dick wrench hat.
  12. I only listened to Freedom once, as I recall. Guess I should try again. It's definitely not their second best though, since their first 3 are all really good.
  13. Well this is exciting news. If it's really good I'll pick up a local copy after release.
  14. I enjoyed the electronics/maths of the first 3 albums quite a bit (at the time...not sure about now). Stopped paying attention after that as my ears were too saturated with the post-rock sound and you can really only do so much with it.
  15. I like that they animated the release date to transform into the release date. As for the suspected album artwork, it's no surprise they would use something so dated, though I can't help being disappointed if that's the case.
  16. Umm thanks, didn't know he had a new one and it's been out a week already.
  17. I think I'll skip listening to the entire "single" till the album drops. Can't quite tell if I'm excited about the new album or not from the sound of this - reminds me of "Anthemic Aggressor" which was my least favorite on Smote Reverser, and brought down the overall experience for me. At least this jam's at the end of the album. Ok yes I am excited for the new album, I'm sure I'll really enjoy it for the most part.
  18. I was really into them up through the 5 releases in 2017, but haven't been motivated to listen to Fishing for Fishies - it just sounds annoying. Every time I'm shuffling my 2019 albums queue and a King Gizz song comes up, I get annoyed and skip it. Not really interested in thrash from them, either. Of the 5-album streak I really liked the songwriting and variety on Microtonal, Sketches, and Polygondwanaland.
  19. Very cool, glad to learn of another way to scrobble offline plays (vinyl, etc.) I use a a script via RateYourMusic.com, but it hasn't worked on my office computer in years, so it's good to have another option. Adding items via Discogs seems easy, assuming it's already on Discogs. I set this up at my previous job for the Spotify account. It was a good way to see what we listened to collectively, but also be able to see what's playing without getting up. And of course go back to something you might have heard earlier but didn't have a chance to check.
  20. Love Twins but didn't love Mugger. Still, I think the combination sounds nice.
  21. Anyone know how to access Thee Houds of Foggy Notion movie on Vimeo? The email provides a link to it, but it requires a password. "The result is a lovely and ramshackle document of the time, with the band playing by the side of the road through Golden Gate Park, in the back room at John's place on Haight Street, and in other improvised and unexpected places throughout The City. We've cleaned up the film which can be seen in HD here, and we've given the soundtrack the reissue treatment too."
  22. It's worn off for me too. I really liked 2 and Salad Days, and was weary of This Old Dog as the single sounded like more of the same, but wound up really like it – at first. It went out of rotation pretty fast. I know he's got a rabid fanbase but I'm still shocked he's sold out 3 nights in a row at one of the biggest non-stadiums in town this weekend. A few years ago he was playing maybe 2 nights at much smaller, intimate venues, which fit him far better.
