hexrecords got a reaction from clerk3745 in PO: Clutch Transnational Speedway League
We need the regular, no fancy shit version for those of us know that $60 for just a single record is ridiculous.

2nd Ave & Everyday Records in Portland were great successes. Gonna have to get the luggage weighed for the flight home on Friday!

I'l second 2nd avenue records in Portland if you like metal and hardcore. Check out Tomorrow Records on Hawthorne, it's very well curated.

hexrecords reacted to buddha4281 in SHOTMAKER | Solid Brass Records
I shit bricks when I saw this on instagram yesterday. I am hoping for some sort of discography since I am a herb and never got their stuff pre-the vinyl boom. But I will honestly buy whatever it is.
I always talked about these guys like they were Canada's Fugazi. Bands like Blake, The Plan, Okara, etc. all probably wouldnt have existed if not for them. I always loved that Shotmaker is way closer to early emo/screamo/emocore (think like Indian Summer, Sleepytime Trio, etc.) than like DC styled post hardcore though (obviously discounting Hoover) and that explains alot about elements that would pop up in Canadian bands that came after.
Clearly, i am over excited for whatever this ends up being & I dont normally have an instance to go on about this band haha.

hexrecords got a reaction from zaoza in BOTCH sign to Sargent House: all catalog in streaming now, vinyl & more coming in 2022 / NOW: New Song and 'We Are The Romans' 2xLP Reissue
The Saturday show was awesome. I saw their last show at the same place 20 years ago and I'd say their energy and stage presence was just as good now as it was then. They were even tighter though now (which I guess comes along with some of them continuing to play in other bands consistently throughout the years). I seem to remember at the last show an alarming lack of stage dives (I think the security there was tighter back then). People were getting WILD at the Saturday show. Very stoked indeed. Heck, I even went to the show with the same two people that went with me in 2002.

Saturday's show was just as good as I expected it to be.
So glad I was able to make it to two of these shows. Definitely needed more than one set to fully absorb what I was witnessing.

hexrecords reacted to ringo_0 in Unwound Discography Repress
They played "For Your Entertainment" tonight at the SF show. Also, the merch table folks said they are shipping more tour exclusive white copies of Leaves to the LA show, I feel like they're going to be doing that for the rest of the tour.

Also, they were fucking incredible. Don’t miss them if they are coming anywhere near you. They are playing two sets and I was hypnotized the entire time.

hexrecords got a reaction from N8TRU in OUT NOW: BRAIN CAVE/ KNUB split 12" (FFO: post-hardcore, Helmet, riffs)
The split 12" between Cleveland's basement post-hardcore rockers BRAIN CAVE and Baltimore's riff machines in Knub is out now. Comes in a hand-assembled silkscreen package with fancy obi strip, numbered and limited to 300 copies. All copies come on clear/rainbow vinyl. It looks really cool and sounds really awesome.
Give it a shot:

hexrecords got a reaction from mitchard in (PO SOON?) : Turnstile - Glow On
Oh dang, that's wild. I saw them in Portland and they had a big box of them (from what I could see). They were selling it for $25 and I got to the show a bit early so it was pretty easy to grab one. Before the end of the night there was a line for their stuff like 50 deep, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did sell out of whatever they had. Who knows. But I am stoked to finally have this on LP.

hexrecords reacted to manic_compressed in PO now: Silent Majority - Life of a Spectator repress
Holy shit! been trying to get a vinyl copy of Life of a Spectator for years! Have multiple copies of obscenity in the milk and would absolutely buy represses of Milhouse, Motive, Sons of Abraham, Indecision! Exit/Wreckage was classic.

hexrecords reacted to Derek™ in Karate / Geoff Farina / Secret Stars thread
Spied this on Reddit earlier; looks like TBIITO isn't far off now. Hopefully it gets paired with at least 1 more album to save on shipping with these reissues.
Someone in the thread also confirmed with Polyvinyl that they'll be doing their own exclusives for each reissued album, too. You'll want to hit up both Numero and PV when they start popping up, to either decide on your preferred color [or to grab both].

repress of Electra is huge news. I wonder if it will be complete in terms of the bonus tracks released across different CD versions. I have an original, but will gladly double dip

I’m too dumb to post it on here since it’s just a screenshot from an instagram story. If you’re on ig drop your handle and I’ll DM it

They've definitely been listening to a lot of Talking Heads and Gang Of Four.

hexrecords got a reaction from INRIhab in Every Time I Die - Album 9
Oh shit, I forgot Steve was a part of that! I lived in Buffalo from '97-'99 so I was lucky enough to see the first few ETID shows and even book them once or twice. I grew up in Syracuse and right after leaving Buffalo went back there where ETID would come down to play all the friggin' time. Their shows were always totally nuts, especially at Hellfest. I think it was either their 2001 or 2002 set where Keith didn't say anything between songs, but instead they just played samples from a live Pantera record. Hilarious.
