  1. Success, finally. Third copy works well... the first 10-15 seconds of Accidents has a slight variation in audio every rotation... Only very noticeable to me because I was expecting it I think. Needless to say though - maybe don't buy a new copy of Watch Out around Toronto unless the place has an customer friendly return policy. I've got to give some love to the folks at Dead Dog Records here in Toronto for putting up with the issue and just handing over copies until I found one that was playable.
  2. This gives me two feelings: I'm bummed that it happened to you and that you have no recourse. However, I'm relieved that I'm not losing my mind. I really hate that stores will outright refuse to help a customer in situations like this.
  3. Yeah, up until Saturday we were full on into a late season heat wave - so it's definitely possible. Something else I noticed on the two copies I've gone through and about 5 unopened copies at a different store is that the outline of the LPs are clearly moulded into the cardboard. Not typical ring wear with fading, but the covers were all shaped by the LPs - a sign of higher pressure on the records from being jamming together in shipping/storage, or maybe an issue with shrinkwrapping thick double LPs. Anyway, I'm gonna stop stewing on this... I finally have time to go back today and return the replacement, hoping for a refund rather than a third replacement. Tried it again this morning... problem didn't magically fix itself, unfortunately. I also went though a dozen or so LPs (33rpm and 45rpm) and they all played flawlessly. I should consider myself lucky that in all my time buying records from 1995 until now, I haven't had a single issue until this.
  4. Akai ap100, set up to the specifications of the table and the grado cartridge. Should have mentioned I'm confident the table isn't the source of the issue. Nothing else in my collection has this issue.
  5. A few shops around Toronto have gotten restocked on Watch Out, not sure if other places have copies available but I'm wondering if I'm alone in my recent experience as I'm having a quality issue. I picked one up last night, played it this morning and the first few minutes of side A and B had a slight warp that was significant enough to cause the stylus to hop off the album. Returned it for a replacement today and this new copy has the same issue, but on both A/B and C/D. Just curious if anyone else has run into this?
  6. !ATTENTION! - Four or Five Ways to Play These Chords Green Day - 39/Smooth Jens Lekman - I Know What Love Isn't (green marble) Ryan Adams - Cold Roses, Blue Light, & I Do Not Feel Like Being Good. Stars - Set Yourself On Fire Stars - The Five Ghosts (Boxset) Twelve Hour Turn - The Victory of Flight
  7. Shipping price ended up at $11 from Montreal to Toronto, which I found tolerable. Maybe their rates have gone down recently? I was expecting way more when entered my address for a quote though. At this point I'm just happy to find things for sale in Canada to avoid exchange rates and $20USD shipping prices. Certainly looking forward to putting it on when I get it, but I can see it not getting a ton of play considering the need to flip something after every song. Mostly an impulse buy because my girlfriend and I both love Stars and it's kind of a neat package. No problem!
  8. Order was shipped yesterday morning and just arrived - I paid the extra $2 ($9.95 total for an LP and 2 EPs) for quicker shipping and have no regrets. I expected delivery tomorrow, and today is a pleasant surprise. Packaging was done very well, everything was packed up very plush and secure and everything survived the trip in perfect condition. I'm very happy about having Northern Volume as an option - I can pay with Paypal, I'm close enough that I can get things normally unavailable locally within a few days, I get to avoid exchange rates, and $8-$10 shipping for multiple items is something I have no problems with. Gonna shop there again.
  9. I just placed an order with Northern Volume - I'll report back with details once my stuff arrives in Toronto. Seems good so far - I inquired about an out of stock album and the owner quickly responded with an arrival estimate and then emailed me today when it was available online. That was nice.
  10. I think we're at, or near, the point where this album will be perpetually in stock in brick and mortar stores and the prices will start dropping.
  11. Rachael Yamagata - Elephants... Teeth Sinking Into Hearts Moneen - The World I Want To Leave Behind Moneen - Hold That Sound Stars - The North Ryan Adams - Burn In The Night Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up (alternate take)
  12. Sounds super rad, but for $46CAD after shipping and exchange I'm not jumping on this one right now.
  13. I love the sincerely oblivious comments on the Facebook photo - some folks really want a new Underoath album. But honestly, what are the odds that this isn't a repress and the label just had an old copy land in the office and their post is being taken out of context?
  14. You're probably better off ordering it from Dine Alone and choosing "local pick up" instead. It's free and I can't imaging it being an issue, but maybe get in touch with the label.Edited to add: looks like the August 7th release date for this that Kenny posted was for the digital release. I'm sceptical that this will be ready for physical release by the time you're in Toronto.
  15. Release date for STWHA on Amazon.ca has changed from August to October 30th. Has anyone who has already preordered hear anything about this?
  16. Thanks for the info. I saw a social media post about br/idges from moneen - so I figured it was Kenny and was really curious what it sounded like - so thanks for the early insight!
  17. Yeah, finally looked at your photo on a computer instead of a cellular phone - I can see that hole now. NOW TELL US ABOUT THAT BR/DGES 45!
  18. HA! I looked closely at the photo before posting and can't see a hole either, but it's definitely the" exclusive slipmat" from the bundle description on the order page. What else could it be, y'know?
  19. Oh, what a delightful album! Looking forward to the digital download this week and the album arriving in October. What a great progression for the band's sound: natural but new.
  20. I pre-ordered the colour in colour when I got home from the Toronto show. Also, when I met up with a friend at the show - she made a comment about being at an emo show. HA!
