  1. Minus The Bear - Acoustics Gaslight Anthem - Sink or Swim Demos (orange) Legrand Jazz Nirvana - Feels Like the First Time Bags & Trane John Mayer Trio - Try!
  2. Thanks for the tip. Heading over there now. I've done some preliminary research in the past, but want to do something tried and true. Much appreciated.
  3. Those headphones look great. Very nice. I agree. I haven't really been a headphone person, either. I ended up with a set from Grado and enjoy them a lot, which changed my stance on headphones. I guess, just like anything else, we need to find what works for us. Now I need to look into this Dragonfly/iPhone setup you mentioned...
  4. Exciting thread! I recently decided it was time for a change and wanted to up my setup. Set up a Dragonfly to up the sound of my digital files, which I use most at work when I am away from my turntable. I also picked up an Onkyo CP-1050 and a Bellari VP130 Tube-driven Phono Preamp from the Turntable Lab in my area. Wanted to take a step or two up.
  5. Jack's Music Shoppe - Red Bank, NJ - Been going here for several years for vinyl and CDs. Sound Exchange - Wayne, NJ - Holds a record for most music in a space that size. Vintage Vinyl - Fords, NJ - One of the holy grails for vinyl in the state. Went to these two when I was on vacation in Upstate, NY this past summer and they left a good impression on me. Rocket #9 - Kingston, NY - Absolutely love this place. Well-kept, organized, and sells some obscure stuff. Rhino Records - Kingston, NY - An indie-type shop that sells lots of vinyl, CDs, books, and some cassettes.
  6. I tend to do a lot of my buying in person, but go online for a few things from time-to-time: ShopRadioCast has been one that my buddies and I have found to be slow in shipping. The orders have always turned up, but it seems like everyone else has their exclusives in hand before ours are shipped. Victory has been great for me. I know reviews on Epitaph are mixed, but I've done fine with them, too. Interpunk has been one I have used for years. There have been a couple of speedbumps, but they correct things for me fast when there have been issues. Their pricing is fair, IMHO. Surprisingly, Best Buy and Barnes and Noble have done right by me when I have had gift cards. I thought stock might be an issue but, in the few cases I ordered, I didn't have any issues. I tend to use a few eBay shops as my go-to, as they have worked very well for me. Not the traditional sites, but they have been reliable for me and are tried and true. Get Import CDs has shipped to me ridiculously fast and always in great shape (for free). Lazy Labrador Records has also done well by me a few times. Lately, when buying online, I tend to use these because it has been hassle-free so far for over a year.
  7. Real name: Tyler Favorite Bands: One of my favorite questions that has an answer that changes every day. I mostly listen to a lot of classic rock and jazz. Grew up as a formally-trained musician, so a lot of the class go-to's were instilled in my early on. Recently getting into some math rock. Hobbies (outside of record collecting): Reading, playing drums, keeping a koi pond, hiking, automotive shows, etc. Play in a band? Run a record label? Link us!: I play drums in a local New Jersey-based cover band, as well as guitar for a small folk project. Random things you want us to know about you: Many consider my vinyl collecting to be an odd pastime. However, I look at it like preserving time.
  8. A buddy told me about the site. I've been collecting for years, but wanted to get more active and converse with other enthusiasts outside of my regular group. Registered today.
