Found Hiss Tracts - "Shortwave Nights" today. Good lord, it's incredible. Just the kind of thing I needed to fill my AWVFTS/Godspeed-esque craving.

More delays for indie vinyl runs then. Another back-catalogue that doesn't need reissuing clogging up the pressing plants. Got nothing against Rush, would rather just have new, relevant stuff being pressed.

Great news with that split with Lost Trail. I have a CDr of theirs available in my distro, released through Twice Removed Records here in Australia.

I did ask Gavin at Twice Removed if he would consider doing vinyl releases for his new label 'The Long Story Recording Company' but he certainly wasn't confident about doing them. Maybe you might ask?

Might sound good through a Sonic Meditations release, or Experimedia, or even Blue Tapes who i mentioned in a previous post, who are just now branching out into vinyl.

thought i'd jump in here and share my ambient / sound collage work as Leaaves (name-your-price downloads!). i've most recently put out a tape on Illuminated Paths – it's a cohesive suite of piano and guitar works, with field recordings, detailed sampling, and lots of reverb.

i'm currently working on a split LP with drone mainstays Lost Trail, and it's gonna hit hard. we're looking for additional labels anywhere across the globe to help put it out on 12" vinyl (we've got a few labels spearheading the project already), so if you're interested or know of solid labels to check out, i'd appreciate it!

I'm a big fan of the Dali sound, but the Concept line does suffer from its "entry level" pedigree in pretty much every characteristic. The new Zensor line is quite a step up, but if you feel the low end is lacking, it's most likely that your room is just too big for the Concept 1 model. While a sub can somewhat fill the gap, it will never blend in seamlessly and produce as linear of response as a bigger speaker that fits your room size would. If you like the sound and ever decide to upgrade, look into the Ikon 2 Mk2. Amazing speakers for the price.

Yes a high output MC should work with an MM input although you might need to turn the volume up a little higher than with the MM as some high output MC's are still a little light on output.

MM output is generally 5mv and MC's come in 3 general levels which are low (normal) medium and high output where low is generally 0.4mv, medium is generally 1mv and high is generally 3mv.

Obviously these are very general values that vary by manufacturer but you get the idea.

The Denon has an output of 1.6mv which is low for a high output but still usable.

The best idea is go and have a look on the vinyl engine database when looking at different carts as it gives you all the data you need to know.

For 'post-rock', see S/T or Young Mountain.
For 'experimental instrumental', see Tunnel Blanket.

Tunnel Blanket is a milestone in TWDYs work. In years to come, that album will be the one that others are judged on. An absolute masterpiece of understated beauty and darkness, sure to become a bona fide classic.

How many represses of YM and S/T?

Still copies of TB hanging around? (but what do the masses know anyway)     The standard others will be judged by? Hmmm... my bruv, IDK about that!

Like Justin said, there is a change of genre here. Some fans went with them, some got left behind. The normal ebb and flow of the musical journey.

The new one.....for me is going to take 10 more listens and just forgetting who the band is, and really focusing on it, not while doing other things.  I can hum every single track from YM and S/T. I'm a commoner methinks.

    i gotta agree....

bloody awesome record. the divergences from that 'Earth' sound during the album create a touch of experimentation that breaks it all open. It is a claustrophobic listen, but I dont think that takes anything away from the quality. I envisaged the vocals being more maligned within the whole, but again, they dont take anything away from the record. Actually, Rabia's vocal contributions are stunning. Lanegan's 'Rook's...' vocals are less in yer face than in '...Serpent...' but I'm digging. Digging well.

    Love the rekkid.

celebdeath got a reaction from CaptainHerbalLife in PO: Bong - Bethmoora DLP
From At War With False Noise:

Bong's debut full-length, this has been long unavailable and I thought it was long-overdue to see it come out on vinyl given recent reissues of their other records.

This is Bong as I remember them when they first started out; there's a primitive, sparse and lonely sound to the first tune, "The Stone Mountain". It's almost a continuation of bass player/vocalist Dave Terry's previous band - the masterful Trollman Av Ildtoppberg - and is a mysterious, stoned-out hymn to lost and forgotten spirits, resplendent with some wild 70s Japanese psych soloing.

Second track (and side) Bethmoora in contrast is an 18-minute stoner meditation: led by sitar this is total kosmiche music, proof that Bong are infulenced as much by the late 60s Krautrock scene (particularly Popol Vuh, Gunter Schickert, Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream etc) as they are by Sleep and Hawkwind. Drop out!

Taking up an entire LP is their hypnotic cover of Pink Floyd's "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun"; building up over the course of some 20 minutes from silence, it's a masterful display of repetition and trance, with thunderous, booming vocals and white noise guitar solo wipeouts from Mike Vest. Genius!

Everything's been remastered specifically for vinyl by Adam Richardson of Ramesses/11Paranoias and sounds the absolute business. Heavy duty.

Very chuffed to be doing this as Bong have been one of my favourite bands for many years now and I've known them all from putting them on and being down in Newcastle etc for many years, so it feels like it's come full circle to get this out there!

This is a VERY expensive release to do so I very much appreciate all pre-orders. Don't make me sell any of my own records again please! I realise that parting with your money some time before a release is a big thing to do so I'm trying something a bit new here, selling them a bit cheaper as a bit of a reward to those who have the faith in At War to deliver the goods!

500 copies double LP in heavy gatefold sleeves. First 100 from me come on black and silver swirl vinyl.
