  1. Thank you! Definitely parallels for any job, and as I do apply for graphic design/marketing jobs as well, your insight is always appreciated - and that goes for everyone I've met here for that matter! I have been attempting to go that route for a few companies, just not many avenues towards what I'm pursuing. My one in I did have with a civil company in Detroit was through an uncle, but nepotism shot that in the foot (which is funny, as that is how many seem to get jobs in the engineering field there).
  2. I'm looking out west as well - Portland was pretty fun, and maybe I'm odd for thinking this, but it felt like a very small, comfortable city. Wouldn't mind living there for a bit. Seems like the midwest is just going that direction of slow growth or even decline, sadly. Good luck to you on the job and house-front! Stretch those legs!
  3. Thanks! It's just weird how hard it is to find a job, when I have good references and had a good GPA coming out - them's the times I guess! And civil engineering (the boring one). Detroit is good for that, but trying to make it out of Michigan! It'll be nice to get out from under the thumb of debt I bet Although expensive and can be a pain, I find it fun working on that sort of thing, as far as decorating/improving.
  4. I know $3/hr is quite a bit of money, but I think pursuing a job that sounds like it wouldn't stress you out as much as your current would at least pay off health-wise! Never a fun place to be, though. Not too bad - I've applied to over 100 engineering/marketing jobs this year, and the only one I had an interview with was 2 weeks ago (and only a video interview) for the County of LA. Been scraping by working at a pizza place and trying to pay student loans for 6 months...so hoping 2017 is a vast improvement!
  5. I have somehow never watched that film - definitely on the list. How are things going for you T? Any decision made on the job options?
  6. Morning @GHOSTDRONES @KingTacoMunster @Thomas³ ! How're you fine gentlemen doing today? I never owned Princess Mononoke, but I have that and Spirited Away on loan from my library right now because I had a hankering to watch something beautiful. And on that topic, The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness was fantastic as well. Really enjoyed seeing the process Miyazaki and crew go through.
  7. Sadly, looks like I made it to all of 8 shows this year. Definitely upping my quota 2017. Pseudo-Top 10 1-3. Caspian, Defeater + O'Brother | The Pyramid Scheme | 02.08 4-5. Murder By Death + The Builders and The Butchers | Tractor Tavern | 03.17 6-7. Murder By Death + Tim Barry | Star Theater | 03.20 8. Tortoise | Mad Planet | 01.24 9-10. Murder By Death + Laura Stevenson | Durty Nellie's | 11.12
  8. Super happy to see you enjoyed it all @deadreckoning I had a lot of fun trying to figure out what all seemed up your alley, but also surprising as well! Merry Christmas! To top it off, we got the present of seeing extra cute kittens, so I consider this an extra win for all of us. High five, cuties.
  9. Guys, how about we pull this all together and have someone open a present every day from now until Christmas? 12 days of happy! Yay!
  10. A friend recorded this at our old house a few years back. Pretty much sums it up.
  11. I'm always surprised by the amount of people who can't seem to navigate (or god help them, park) their cars during the first few snowfalls, as if it's completely different than any other year.
  12. Good luck if you're holding out! And thank you! Averaging 250+ inches of snow during winters, I would imagine if that was the case, we'd have a named storm every 6 hours some days.
  13. I get to spend it with my family in our childhood home, and am baking a bourbon pecan pie today for the dinner tomorrow Should be a good time, sans the copious amounts of liquor being consumed
  14. Good morning hunks! Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow if I don't touch base before then
  15. @deadreckoning Why, I've no idea what you speak of But really, I'm glad it got to you already! And your foster kitten is beyond adorable! The other two packages should be there any day as I did send them out at the same time as the one you already received. Wishing you a very happy thanksgiving (ours is now snow-covered) and that you find a bunch of happiness in the presents
  16. I can only speak to one, but I have to go with my suggestion of Willett because it's delicious and everything you'll want in a rye.
  17. Man...I spent an hour driving around to 5 different stores to buy reasonably priced/sized bottles of decent bourbon and rye for some biscotti I'm making. Ended up returning a bottle when I found what I was looking for, even. Then I came home, and started the first of two batches, and realized after wrapping it up, that I accidentally doubled the butter. So I now have twice the amount of one, and not enough ingredients for the second... I need 2 cups of flour, and now the stores are closed :| ...but I have lots of whiskey?
  18. Got mine in the mail earlier this week - so good (and pretty to boot) Glad I snagged their first couple albums off what this past week before that blew up in my face.
  19. Bittersweet that I actually remembered to use all my tokens this past week...
  20. The Soil & The Sun are such babes - I booked them a handful of years ago and they played a beautiful set (and even had their little ones tagging along!) Sounds like a good couple weeks
