Gumbo, the days of a truly novel riff in music - unless in the wildly experimental anarchy - are long gone. Every band has used the chord progression in Sober at least once, and Tool ripped it as well. So we get it, OK? You're an encyclopedia, or thesaurus, of riffage.

Oof, yeah. That whole "My significant other should shower me with presents and money" mindset/expectation is some shit. If that's what she wants from a partner, that's fine. She just needs to find that, rather than hoping someone will just do that.
 
I dated a girl in my really early 20s who used to get really pissed I didn't buy her tons of presents because "All my friend's boyfriends spend tons of money for them." I tried to make her understand that as someone going to school full time and working like 15 hours a week, that just wasn't possible. All her friends were dating like landscapers/construction workers who sold drugs and had dropped out of high school. I'm not talking down about dropping out, being a manual laborer, or selling drugs. BUT someone under those circumstances is going to have an astronomically higher cash flow than an English Lit major who washes dishes 2-3 nights a week and comes from a lower class family.
 
She just expected me to somehow have money and spend it all on her. We broke up and I've since had a couple long-term partners with a much more adult concept of money and relationship dynamics.
 
TLDR: If she wants something from you that you can't/won't provide, it's best for you both to move on.

The way Gumbo talks about his girlfriend bums me out. 

Just keep living your life, keep your head up, choose options that come your way as they come. IF she decides that she's ready for a relationship again and IF she wants to reach out to you and IF you are still interested in pursuing a relationship with her at that time, you'll want to be in a healthy, productive place where you can accept that offer as your best self and in your best mindset. Give yourself enough credit as a person/human to consider that you deserve and can find someone else who is available and a match and at the right point in their life to be with you. And give her enough credit to take her at her word as a smart, capable person/human and avoid entertaining any exciting imaginary scenarios about her secretly wanting you to change her mind/win her back or her secretly having another lover, etc etc. It's too easy to waste 6 months fantasizing about the past instead of actually building yourself up and living your life.

You have to be able to see that comparing interpersonal relationships to dog ownership comes across as a tad misogynistic right?

Your first point of being patient and your conclusion of being interesting are fine but that whole middle section reads poorly.

I love all the seattle dogs.  I went to a bar last weekend and there were dogs everywhere!!  Definitely going to bring my dog there if i end up staying here.

Damn Jon. Sorry to hear your flight got cancelled. Hopefully you can still have a cool vacation staying here. Maybe take the train to Portland? I'm looking forward to visiting there as soon as I get a break in my schedule.
