  1. I did the 5 for $15 deal once. I really like the This Bike is a Pipe Bomb and Good Luck LPs I got. The other three were more of the gravelly voice hardcore beard punk stuff, which I don't enjoy (Worn in Red, The Tim Version, and Young Livers).
  2. Been looking for a cheap copy of Hounds of Love for a while. I found one at a local shop for $8.99 but there were loud clicks on the title track and I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. Since then, I've only seen the marble version a few times and it's been priced at $40+.
  3. Yep. Bernie was my first choice. I've sucked it up and am voting for the best available candidate instead of trying to take down the entire election process with a retaliatory anarchy vote for Trump. I know that doesn't describe everyone but that is what it feels like when I see people who were hardcore Bern-heads switch their allegiance to the orange shambling corpse of America's dignity. thank you ~ Wanna-be John Oliver
  4. Non-whites can adopt that mindset/perspective too. There are minorities who are Republican or libertarian leaning and believe that race issues boil down to individuals who are whining instead of taking personal accountability for their lot in life and individuals who need to just comply with police. I had to sit through a speech from a libertarian talk show host at a school who was black and believed that black lives matter was the worst thing to happen to black Americans in the modern era and that there is no such thing as systematic racism. Looping back, I don't think it's controversial or inaccurate or accusatory to say that race issues are a low priority to more conservative voters. I think it's just an observation. Yes, there is some negative connotations given to that perspective by the 'other side' but I don't think acknowledging the perspective is in and of itself an attack or accusation.
  5. Your rejection of those premises, which are some of the core components of the discussion, is what I mean by viewing a topic as low priority or not acknowledging it as something that needs to be addressed and worked on. If you don't think that systematic racism is real or that privilege is real, doesn't that mean that a topic built around addressing systematic racism and privilege is a low priority for you politically? Wouldn't you gravitate toward a platform that focuses more attention on other things?
  6. If I'm gonna buy a stupid novelty turntable, it's gonna be something like this that involves magnets and LED lights. WOULD BUY IF I WAS RICH AND NEEDED TO LOSE $800.
  7. Wouldn't an agitated Siberian weasel set loose in the White House achieve the same temporary thrill tho?
  8. Look at this pervert. Clearly showing off his giant erection to all the women. I can't believe it.
  9. I think the Republican party is a better fit for you if you have a problem with the most wealthy paying higher taxes or people having discussions about race relations. Those issues are very very low priority for conservatives, if they acknowledge them at all. Clinton's unprecedented, illegal, immoral corruption aside, I would think that you'd still be unhappy with parts of the Democrtraic platform based on your previous post.
  10. Could have used a comedically brilliant sign-off but, hey, we can't all be HILARIOUS like me.
  11. It seems like there is some deeper baggage in play with some of those replies. Sometimes I'll read things here that I think are dumb or wrong but I don't think I'd ever just let my eyes glaze over and launch into a profane monologue about how everyone is fake and insincere and doesn't really care. That's something I'd be more likely to shout at my dad in a weird anxiety dream just before I lunge at him. (I have baggage and issues with my dad lol)
  12. Sometimes, there's no saving face. You just gotta do your best Martin Shkreli and annoyingly embrace the role of villain.
  13. Maybe shoot Bullmoose an email before you cancel. My guess is they're gonna move the date back too.
  14. Usually, when Amazon experiences a delay, it's a production delay that will affect all distributors and shops too.
  15. Don't delete your account. I think it's important that there is some proof of how these ideas were out of the shadows and openly expressed for an election cycle in 2016. In 4 years, it will return to a more subversive level and everyone is going to do the opposite of what we do with historic sports games- instead of everyone saying "Yeah! I was at that game!", they'll say "Nope. I wasn't part of that insane movement." Also, I haven't gotten to the point where I'd call Trump supporters trash or deplorable. To me, those are words for people who know better and who gain from abusive and racist actions and policy. All that said, the idea that it's OK to talk about women that way and that it's a normal characteristic of being a man is deplorable and trashy. The idea that it's natural or acceptable doesn't fly outside of anti-PC comedy podcast and u-stream message board bro havens. It's never cool to brag about sexually assaulting people or using your power/influence to gain an advantage when sexually preying on people.
  16. I don't really care what Trump says or does. And that's why he gets my vote in November.
  17. Almost bought the Crosley C-100, their weighted and higher quality model, for $45 but the one they had in store was fucked up in the box. The tonearm was slid all the way over to the metal platter with the stylus exposed and scratching the platter and the slip mat was on top of the arm. Their horrible treatment of vinyl and basically everything is so insane that I sometimes forget what they are capable of.
  18. Flippers gobbling up copies is beneficial to a label/club to a certain extent, so far as it does not cause too much frustration to 'normal' consumers. Instituting a 1 per person only rule would make 'normal' customers feel good but it would cause the label to lose a lot of sales on less desirable releases that are mainly propped up by the illusion of exclusivity. Even with flippers being able to buy multiple copies, there are still low run releases (500-1,000) that don't sell out for a long time (and some never do). Labels benefit from flipping as long as it doesn't anger their customers who miss out to the point that they lose them.
  19. This is why it's important to, at the best of your ability, make your own judgments and scrutinize the information you get. The media is an amorphous entity that can convey trends but can't give you an accurate picture of the complex, specific perspectives that exist within that amorphous cloud of conflicting interests and personalities. I would be wary to draw simplistic parallels between how they handle one subject and another, especially when the subjects themselves are difficult to unpack on their own. No one should think "the media represents my worldview" and, hopefully, no one should look at the media and think "the media represents what XYZ group's worldview is". While I'm being sincere, I want to say that, even though I strongly disagree with some of the opinions here, I do appreciate that there is concern and some thought happening. I would be OK bumping elbows with any of you as we flip through the "new additions" rack at a local record store. I honestly think a non-Trump presidency will benefit you more than a Trump one and my mockery of pro-Trump sentiments and endorsement of a Democratic candidate isn't attached to an idea like "I can't wait till Hillary comes in and punishes the non-believers!" Same with similar perspectives. I think a better trained police force that doesn't shoot stalled black motorists will benefit you more than one that does and I'm rooting for America to continue being great at the things it's great at and get better at the things that need work. where are the jokes thank you ~ rds
