  1. I actually have a sealed, non-promo copy of it that I got on eBay probably 7 or 8 years ago for $20. It seems all the copies that DO show up have the corner of the jacket cut off because they're promos.
  2. Hey, the Boys Night Out record I did was on "mixed" vinyl so the results are pretty random. Most of those numbers listed for the pressing are pretty much just estimated.
  3. Just got a package from Sub Pop. Some records I've owned on CD for 10+ years but finally decided to pick up on vinyl....The records were decently cheap from Sub Pop...but they murdered me on shipping. $9.65 for shipping plus $1 for handling. No media mail option. I waited 10 years to buy these LPs, I could have waited a couple of weeks and saved $6. Chixdiggit - Chixdiggit Hazel - Are You Going to Eat That? Hazel - Torreador of Love If anyone is into mid 90s indie rock stuff w/both male and female vocals, I highly recommend Hazel. Are You Going to Eat That? is one of my favorite records. Great stuff. Members of Team Dresch if anyone is into that band at all.
  4. Represses are cool by me. Labels aren't making jack shit on the first pressing if they're doing anything less than 1000 anyway, unless they're charging a fortune for the record. If you can sell more records, press more records. I like the idea of switching things up and providing some sort of variation between pressings, but it's certainly annoying when each repress consists of 8 different colors. Switching colors every pressing is cool by me. I see no reason why good records shouldn't be kept in print. If you feel you need to buy every pressing, knock yourself out. Don't look as record collecting as an investment and you won't care quite so much if stuff gets repressed.
  5. The pressing numbers are odd because they are getting over-runs most likely. When you press a record, it's subject to a 10% over or under-run. In all of the years I've been pressing records, I've never once been shorted, and I have gotten extra copies a few times. My guess is Fat pressed 1000 and received 1098.
  6. You know, I'm really not sure what the deal is. We were discussing the whole thing, we tried to get them to take a smaller licensing fee for the first pressing (we wanted to do 500 of each and the amount they wanted would have been pretty cost-restrictive), and they insisted on the higher amount. Chris from ODS and I were trying to figure out a way to make it work when Ferret just decided they didn't want to license the records at all. BNO was going to work on them this summer to try to get this figured out. If we did a box set it would just be the same exact thing as the individual records but with an additional vinyl color. Maybe just 180g black or something. We'll see if it happens. I'd really like to put these records out. If anything ever gets confirmed, I'm sure you'll hear about it.
  7. I was supposed to be releasing Make Yourself Sick, Trainwreck, and the self-titled album on vinyl this year, all as split releases with One Day Savior. For whatever reason, Ferret decided it wasn't in their best interest to license the records to us. The boys in Boys are still working on 'em, as they really want us to do it. If we do, I'm guessing we'd go in reverse order from newest to oldest, starting with the S/T LP, or maybe all three at once and then setting up some sort of box set (we'd have to press another 100 of the Broken Bones LP if we did something like that). Trainwreck would have to be a 2xLP, as it's a long one. It'd have to be spread out over 3 sides, so there'd be a blank side in the mix unless there are some unreleased demo gems or something. As far as all the different colors go, that's what happens when you order "mixed" vinyl. The last time I did this, I received 500 7"s all on a gross purple color (the HWC Master of Profits 7"). I assumed it would be the same thing here, but we ended up with a pretty huge variation. What they do is take all the leftover vinyl they didn't use on each colored run they did that week and mix it all together so you can end up with quite the variety. Apparently it wasn't mixed too well, as there are a lot of oddball ones in there. As far as the grey and green ones go, those are estimates. I can't say for certain how many there are of each because, quite frankly, I didn't go through all 490 and count which ones were which at the time. I pulled all of the real odd colors out and then just kind of assumed they were all "mixed" after that, until I noticed the pretty big difference between the grey and green LPs. So yeah, there might be 200 of one and 240 of the other....I have no idea. I've seen equal amounts of both though.
  8. I really like the "snug" fit bags from Bags Unlimited. That's what I use for my releases. They look much nicer than the big bags, but if you have a lot of 2xLPs or real thick jackets, you'll need the regular ones.
  9. From top to bottom, left to right: The Discographer 2xLP (both splatter + half/half) Ten Steps to Success LP Der Investerwhatever LP (clear import) Master of Profits 7" (purple) Split 7" w/FKS (red - release show cover) The Smell of Money 7" Split 7" w/Infestation of Ass (regular cover) Split 7" w/Infestation of Ass (hand-made cover w/blood) Split 7" w/Godstomper (red paper) Split 7" w/Gostomper (white paper) Split 7" w/Fordirelifesake (tour edition #1/100) Split 7" w/FKS (maroon) Split 7" w/FKS (yellow) Split 7" w/Tusk Split 7" w/Wilbur Cobb Split 7" w/Third Degree Split 7" w/Fordirelifesake (regular version) Split 7" w/Fordirelifesake (tour version #100/100) TEST PRESSINGS: Master of Profits 7" Split 7" w/Fordirelifesake Split 7" w/Godstomper The Smell of Money Ten Steps to Success LP The Discographer 2xLP Missing from photo: V/A Ryan Durkin for President 7" (all three versions - red, white, blue all /100) Live Acoustic 7" test pressing (/15)(not actually out yet) Master of Profits 7" (record release show version /70) CD versions of all releases including the Microeconomics wallet CDEP and split w/Don't Worry About it in a money bag. I think there are a few more colors of that FKS split, including black. Other than that, the only record I'm missing is the pink vinyl regular cover edition of the Fordirelifesake split 7", which I actually released and didn't save a copy for myself. If anyone has one to trade or sell for a reasonable price, let me know!
  10. Just use regular glue-stick glue. Nobody will ever know the difference. As far as what I expect from labels....as long as it's packaged well, I have no complaints. You don't have to be a psycho and use ten layers of cardboard, a mailer, and bubble wrap all taped up and whatnot. If you send it in a mailer, preferably with the record removed from the jacket, without a lot of extra space in the mailer, I'm happy. It's when people do the lazy shit where they tape two pieces of cardboard together with a record in the middle or don't put ANYTHING in the mailer so the record bounces around in there that I'm annoyed. Or I guess when they don't use the mailer properly and it causes the sleeve to get damaged. You can't really expect perfection when you're paying a few bucks for media mail. Hell, even if you pay for priority mail, it's the USPS, and they'll destroy anything. So really, small dings/creases/etc. no big deal. They're usually not the labels' fault anyway.
  11. What the hell yard sale were you at where they were selling recently released records? Old Boston and Perry Como records are the only things that you find at yard sales!
  12. Records shouldn't be shrink-wrapped in the first place. You're buying these things from labels and independent distributors and stores, not Hot Topic and Amazon.com!
  13. No problem, I've been meaning to do it for a long time. This thread gave me a decent excuse to do so.
  14. awesome! is it ok if i use those photos for my site? For sure, no prolem. Use whatever you'd like.
  15. I know it's small time, but I just recently put up more detailed pressing info for all of my vinyl releases. Just click on the record cover and it'll take you to a page with the pressing info and pictures of all of the different versions. http://www.forgeagainrecords.com/releases.shtml I'm going to get the CD section updated this week as well, as there are a few variations on a couple of records. Let me know if you happen to notice anything missing.
  16. Here's my list... http://board.vivalavinyl.org/?func=profile&id=1018
  17. Hey, This probably isn't up the majority of this board's alley, but I'm looking for the following Cardigans LPs. They show up on eBay every so often, but it's very infrequent and they can occasionally get pretty expensive. I bought test pressings of the two Simply Vinyl 180g LPs, but I've been unable to find the regular versions thus far. If anyone can find any of these at a local store or whatever and you're interested in trading/selling/ etc. get in touch. I might be willing to part with some test presses/old pressings of my releases as well. Long Gone Before Daylight (might be a bootleg...) Gran Turismo (180g Simply Vinyl version) First Band on the Moon (Stockholm version) Life (180g Simply Vinyl version) Life (Minty Fresh version)
  18. A friend of mine is in this band now. Still haven't heard anything since he joined. I was not a fan of their earlier stuff.
  19. CML is playing locally and writing new stuff, I believe. They were supposed to tour Europe this fall but it fell through. I'm guessing plenty more touring in the near future.
  20. The BNO LPs are all on "mixed" vinyl, which means there's a lot of variation between the colors. About half of them ended up a light grey color (w/all sorts of other colors mixed in) and the other half ended up a light greenish/blue color (also w/other colors mixed in). If you ever played with He-Man toys as a kid, I'd say the green color is almost exactly the same tint as Castle Grayskull used to be. There were also a few random brown, orange, and translucent blue/green ones but those mostly went to the band or other label. Like I said, they were on "mixed" vinyl so they just dump a bunch of different colors into the bin when they press the records. As a result, some end up oddball colors. Last time I did this all of them ended up a light purple color. This turned out much nicer and produced some interesting variants. It would be impossible to pinpoint exactly how many of each color there are, because a lot of the colors are similar and most of them are already gone. However, the grey/green blue difference is pretty easy to tell.
  21. They were sort of done by hand, as they were was stamped one at a time by some sort of non-automated machine. The guys from CML did them. They did this with the insert for Soft Skeletons too. It involves some sort of hand-operated machine, ink, and screens sort of like a silkscreen. I'm not exactly sure how it all works, just that it's time-consuming and I think the machine is sort of expensive. Looks cool though.
  22. Everything else = the music and the artwork - basically it'd just be different colors of the same thing. Tim - Just pretend this LP is on very dark midnight blue vinyl and go for it! Besides, color is much less important than the fact that it's the first pressing! Also, if you don't have it already, Soft Skeletons is on very cool colored vinyl.
  23. I highly recommend the 31Knots "Talk Like Blood" and Rainer Maria "Long Knives Drawn" LPs. I don't think they're on any sort of limited vinyl but they're both great records.
  24. Musicol is probably the cheapest option. United had a 100 LP "spring/summer" deal on their website that lasted almost the entire year. It's not up there now, but it was 100 LPs on black 140g vinyl w/black/white labels, 5 test pressings, plain white sleeves (w/center hole), including all plating, mastering, shipping, etc. for $699. Honestly that would have been your best bet. If you were to place a similar order now, it'd probably be like $900-1000.
