  1. Damn this takes me back. I miss punk like this. I still spin Totin 40's and Fucking Shit Up on the regular. Easy order.
  2. This seems like it is still legit. It let me order. We shall see...
  3. God bless No Idea. Quick story: They ran out of something I ordered once and sent me a credit slip for 12 bucks. I quickly lost it, then found it about 7 years later. I emailed them and asked if it was still good. They said yes, then I lost the slip yet again. Got tired of waiting for it to turn up so I emailed them and told them about the situation and they still honored the credit, sans slip. They're good fucking people. Edit: Now it makes sense why The Blacktop Cadence ep disappeared from their coming soon page.
  4. For anyone else who got the email that their membership is expiring, yet it still says active, here is a good thread to follow: http://forum.vinylmeplease.com/index.php?threads/pricing-changes-for-future-members-not-current-active.4392/page-25. People have a lot of questions and aren't getting many answers. I sent VMP an email and if I hear back I will provide any more information. Hopefully I hear back. I really want the May release and from the email they sent it appears one needs to sign up by the end of the week. This situation is strange.
  5. Got the same thing. I sent them an email asking for clarification. I think they are trying to dupe us into committing to a 3 month plan since ours says it is going to renew automatically.
  6. Ebay. I feel pretty fortunate considering a copy has never been on discogs. Excellent list, by the way.
  7. Just got my Blacktop Cadence-la reine d'alcool TP. It felt like Christmas. No Idea Records has been saying for about 10 frigging years they were gonna press this. Feel very fortunate I was paying attention when a copy popped up.
  8. Public Service Announcement: A lot of stores see the number of shoppers dwindle in the weeks leading up to RSD because a lot of people are saving their money. Multiple stores around me have really good sales during this time (20-30% off). Stores around y'all might do the same.
  9. Record store breakdown: Used Kids: Tons of stuff. Probably the best place to find deals on used records. You can spend a good amount of time here. Magnolia Thunderpussy: Dedicated metal section. Good stock of new stuff. Used section can be paltry and they often put higher end used records in the new section, which can be annoying. T-shirts, dvd's, zines, lots of cool stuff. Records Per Minute: My personal favorite. They have a very large $2 section but a relatively small "regular" used section. Biggest selections of new records in town. Dedicated sales rack in the back. Elizabeth's Records: Specializes mainly in used with a huge jazz selection. Not a good place to find deals but a good place to find some gems. Lost Weekend Records: Smaller shop with that nice hole in the wall feel. Decent selection of new and used and doesn't go overboard with used prices. Spoonful Records: People love this store and I do not understand why. Relatively good selection of new records and a good place to find some gems, which they post on their facebook page. You won't find any bargains here, though. They regularly have used records for extremely high prices. Roots Records: Never been but been meaning to hit it up. Specializes in hip hop and rap but carry other genres. Ace in the Hole records: Going out of business sale! Copied an article on the topic: " All used CD’s in the store are 50% off all week; vinyl records $6 and under are 50% off (and, you’d best believe me, there’s still a BUNCH of great, cheap vinyl left in the store, I got that Brotherhood album – offshoot band of Paul Revere & the Raiders – for 50 cents last week, among others); vinyl $7-$30 is 20% off, and vinyl over $30 (and there’s some gems in that price range still there, too) is 30% off." Never been but I plan on stopping by after work today. Used Kids, Elizabeth's Records, Record Per Minute, and Lost Weekend are relatively close together. Roots is just down the street from Magnolia, which is only a couple miles from Spoonful. So it would be easy to hit more than one.
  10. Vent your frustration to Waxwork. Maybe in the future they will limit the number of copies people can buy.
  11. Bump for this man. Shipped the lp's out of the sleeve to avoid split seams. Packaged like a boss. All albums in great condition, most NM. Great seller!
  12. Local store got the black version of The Fountain last Friday. It sounds a lot better. Volume is still low but it didn't have the pops that plagued my gold copy. There are a number of crackles but a good cleaning should take care of most of that. Overall I am pleased, but don't get hopes up for a pristine sounding copy.
  13. Same problems with The Fountain. Surface noise is crazy. Crackles and pops also but nothing too bad. Mondo is issuing a refund, so at least they are trying to make it right.
