  1. Good list. But I don't think Griffey quite makes the top 10. I'd definitely add Wagner to the top 10 (at Griffey's expense). And swap Musial for Rose. (Rose belongs much further down.)
  2. The league ERA's fluctuate quite a bit -- 2010 is nothing out of the ordinary in the NL (the AL is a bit low though): NL = http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/NL/pitch.shtml AL = http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/AL/pitch.shtml
  3. Jawbreaker (especially live versions)
  4. fixed What I was trying to say was that Joyce's call was worse. (I thought the "as a Cards fan" took care of the mystery...)
  5. As a Cards fan it pains me to type this, but: Joyce < Denkinger
  6. -0.6 runs (Fangraphs) +1.0 runs (Dewan +/-) Amazing? Eh.
  7. It's the latter. Dude's never been better than mediocre. His shining moment was the 2006 postseason (particularly the NLCS), which is why he got the contract he got.
  8. The Rolling Stones - "Sympathy for the Devil" Black Flag - "Nervous Breakdown" Built to Spill - "Goin' Against Your Mind" Pavement - "Stereo"
  9. Also: "How a Resurrection Really Feels" and "Killer Parties"

  11. I'm going to try and get on the beta for this.
  12. I should've gone to fucking Art School.
  13. Community + Parks & Rec = comedy heaven
  14. Recently ditched my G1 for an Incredible. Fucking awesome.
  15. I had it, but never had time to play, so I sold it.
  16. true, but all it does is frame the contract negotiations in a way to make it increasingly difficult for the cards to keep him. do you think he's worth $30+ mil a year? on a team whose payroll is in the 90's? 1/3rd of your payroll in one player? Is he worth $30MM/yr? Sure. He's the best offensive player in the game and he plays GG-caliber defense. (And if you tend to put stock in converting WAR into dollars, than Pujols was worth around $38.8MM last year and $41.7MM the year before. ) Would I want the Cards to tie up a huge portion of their payroll to keep him? It depends. I wouldn't want them to completely mortgage the future to do so, but I don't think they'd have to. He's already making $16MM/yr, so an extra $14MM puts the team at about $108MM, which is doable in STL (especially in a weak division with an above-average chance at playoff revenue every year). Plus I'm sure the club will get him to defer a chunk of that annual salary (a la Holliday), which gives the team added flexibility. I say he stays in STL (and I hope to god he does). Ownership would be stupid not to keep him, especially after what they paid a FA (Holliday) this past offseason.
  17. To be fair, he said Pujols is "twice as good" as anyone else in MLB. Hence the $50MM number.
  18. Stupid Phillies. Way to GROSSLY overpay Howard and, as a result, further skew the market against the Cards. Ugh.
  19. i feel like this would be one of those things that's not as easy as it looks.
