I just started the Witcher series a couple weeks ago, almost done with the first book.
I've never played the game but I'm a huge D&D nerd needing a good multi-book fantasy realm to dive into and monster-killin' is right up my alley. 
 
The short stories aspect of this book make it a nice nightly chapter, but as fragmented as it feels for an introduction to the character, I'm getting hooked. I'll at the very least get the second book. I'm not sure if it's the translation of it or if it'd be similar in Polish, but it's pretty quick reading. I dig it.
 
My brain certainly doesn't have to work as hard as reading all the HP Lovecraft I've been immersing in the last few months! 

a great instrumental band I've been following forever, Shelter Red out of Oregon, finally got their shit on Bandcamp. you guys should take a listen!
 

I thought this was quite good.  I don't really like to buy digital music, but it being under $2 made it a bit of a no-brainer.

In other news, last night I took my girlfriend to see Yndi Halda with Staghorn, Wess Meets West, and Mineva. 
 
 
Holy.  Fucking.  Shit.  I eat every naysaying word I ever wrote about Yndi Halda.  That was god-tier.  Their music takes on an entirely new life on stage... much like The End of The Ocean is an entirely different beast than on record.  It was utterly breathtaking.  They played 3/4 of Under Summer (unfortunately curfew prevented them from playing A Sun Colored Shaker) leaving out Helena.  I don't know if any of you have ever seen them before, but for the end of "This Very Flight" they each took up these hand-mallet things to play the ending melody.  They went around in turns, with each person playing one note of the melody after walking out into the crowd. 

It may rival "Sycamore" for the most epic ending I've ever seen.  The whole venue was held rapt and dead silence...... it was fucking incredible.

i've been buying Image and Dark Horse titles almost exclusively. Image is killing it, and I'm slowing trying to catch up with the whole Hellboy/Mignolaverse on Dark Horse. Harrow County is also great. 

one of my favorite albums to come out over the last couple years is the s/t record by RÛR.

i thought last season was a pretty entertaining one. Liverpool finally got back into Champions League (sorry Gunners fans) so i'm pretty stoked going into this upcoming season. even if we keep fucking up our transfer targets.... i'm afraid Pep has bought into a title winning team again, though. i would love to see him win a championship without all that money he always gets to spend. 

i was going to post about these guys. SO. GODAMN. GOOD. catchy as hell. 
 
i stumbled across them the same day i found the new Dodecahedron record, who i hadn't heard of before but instantly recognized the vocalist from Anaphylactic Shock (they were an awesome black metal/hardcore band about 10+ years ago i listened to in college) so i was stoked to find these guys and even more stoked because this record is also fucking amazing. awesomely unique.
 
these two records have been on non-stop for me the last two weeks. cant suggest them enough.
 
also been listening to Mesarthim because i apparently didn't know i needed 90's synth soundtrack black metal in my life, but i do. 

i was going to post about these guys. SO. GODAMN. GOOD. catchy as hell.

you made it one season longer than we did. they lost me at the end of season 5, never even watched a single episode of this season (we ended up cutting cable and i made no effort whatsoever to catch up digitally). came in to have stuff spoiled.
 
anything good happen? you know, in the probably 2 or 3 good episodes the season was bound to have?

i'll pick up the trades of Fight Club eventually. my wife is a huge Palahniuk fan and i love the move, so i'm going to try to read them in secrecy first, then give them to her as a present haha
