  10. Sonic Youth played back to back nights at CBGB's on June 23, 1988 and June 24, 1988! The band exclusively played songs from Daydream Nation at these gigs with some fun twists, including alternate lyrics and different styles. Similar to the Maxwell's shows from June 8th and 9th of 1988, the band was still in the process of working out the songs that would appear on Daydream Nation. For instance, Thurston Moore sang "Cross The Breeze" on night one. Night two also features a very different sounding version of "Rain King." Sonic Youth entered the studio to record Daydream Nation in July 1988 and the album was officially released in October of that year. Listen to both shows here: https://www.themckenzietapes.com/tapes/2018/6/24/sonic-youth-at-cbgbs-06-23-1988 Tune Thurston Moore & Mike Watt did for the "YOU'VE GOT YOUR ORDERS VOL. 1" comp: https://chromepeelerrecords.bandcamp.com/track/like-a-ghost-on-fire
  11. On June 15, 1996, Mudhoney played at Irving Plaza! The Seattle grunge rockers were touring in support of their 1995 album, "My Brother The Cow" on Reprise Records. The group opened with Mudride and then went straight into Suck You Dry. The Mudhoney "Tourbook 1995" also notes that Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon were in attendance! The album includes some songs previously released, including all of the songs from the "We Are the One" EP, two songs from the Avengers EP (as well as other songs recorded during the EP's sessions) and both songs from the "Paint it Black" single. 13. Auction is here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOME-BLITZ-Apocalyptic-Grades-2005-A-D-7-Indie-oh-sees-vivian-girls-tyvek-rare-/292272917520?hash=item440cd2cc10:g:uswAAOSw-QRZzN79 Home Blitz 7" release of "Apocalyptic Grades 2005 AD" + "AC S.S." b/w "Hey!". Self released pressing in 2005. Dubbed as an "early repress", this pressing has the printed record labels. Vinyl is in NEAR MINT condition. The sleeve is in EX condition. Record has been stored in a SMOKE FREE environment. Tracklist: A1: Apocalyptic Grades 2005 A.D. A2: AC S.S. B1: Hey! REVIEWS OF THE RECORD: "..great individualist punk rock much in the same way Half Japanese is. There are times where you have to say "What the fuck?" and that is good. Man, I really dig this record. Refreshingly no bullshit and all its own thing." - Scott Soriano, S-S Records. "Wow! A lotta punk singles pass through here and most go unnoted because theyre so by the numbers. The debut record by New Jerseys Homeblitz, Apocalyptic Grades 2005 AD (Homeblitz 7"), is a different kettle of stink. Although one senses that the underlying concept is not inimical to the concept of pop-punk, the execution goes far beyond that. The final track, "Hey!" does have the same kind of lost yard jumble classicism as, say, Mike Fornatales "Kickin Chickens", but the lead off tune has an avant-pumice edge that recalls nothing less than The Electric Eels "Cyclotron". And 28 years after the fact, I can still remember my first hearing of that side, in Andy Schwartzs old pad on East 10th Street. Since Ill be dead in another 28 years, this wont have the same kind of personal legs, but what the heck?" - Byron Coley, the Wire. Proceeds of this auction go towards funding future releases on Chrome Peeler Records.
  14. A tribute to REYNOLS frontman, Miguel Tomasin. Inspired by Tomasin’s unique way of looking at the world, Reynols made music that most people probably wouldn’t consider music- plugging guitars into pumpkins, releasing empty CD cases, blank tape hiss, detuned guitars, effects pedals, feedback and the occasion ram’s horn. It’s trippy and noisy. But mostly noisy.Buy the shirt @ https://rawgravy.threadless.com/designs/reynols-t-shirt/mens/t-shirt?color=goldLATEST RELEASE:DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS "Warmth 2" download @ https://chromepeelerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/warmth-2Mutated drones convert into harsh noise killing zones. Pointless laughter while watching a mushroom cloud grow in the skyline.
