I don't really care what he did or didn't do(allegations or otherwise). Never did. I really like what he did in the 90s. I still listen very often. His band kinda fell off my radar after those times. I moved on to a more broader range of genres after those times. I tend to think what I value more are the memories I had from those periods of time. I don't support abuse. I find it ridiculous that I, or anyone else should be blamed for supporting anyone that abused anyone else just for liking the music I/we listened to decades ago. The recording industry is a dirty business and they know it. There's blood all over the music we listen to. Whether intentionally or unintentionally. We are the victims

I am surprised that I haven't sprung for any of these colored repressings. I already have originals, so I guess I am being "sensible". Or I'm just not giving a shit about multiple variants.  My bank account will be so much happier. And I will be able to travel more.😜

Here's the thing about this. For $10 you bet your ass I'm getting it. For $20 I'm on that shit. For $30 I'm questioning whether I really need it. For $40 I'm out. For $50 shipped there is NO FUCKING WAY, BROTHER. I'm rolling over in my grave.

/300 nWo swirl with title belt obi strip (also a /300 picture disc there). This has been up all day - I got hit with an IG ad and I’m seeing it hit Reddit 10 hours ago and there are 74 copies still. Safe to assume they finally oversaturated the marketplace with this $50 joke album no one actually wants to listen to more than once.

They reissued Blind, Static and Silence, and Reading, Writing and Arithmetic for RSD.

Hopefully they will press them again.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I have actually had a lot of success with them, even with my UK RSD wants this year.

I just can’t pull the trigger for $40+ each. If they cancel, I will use the dough towards another record.

According to your profile you've been on these boards since 2016, you obviously know how record pre-orders work and understand most are made several weeks if not months beforehand. You're being an unbelievable asshole for what specific reason?
Just so everyone else knows, there is no time frame for grief. Feel free to use the boards to take your mind of the sometimes crushing reality of life. Nobody will give you a hard time, and if this dickwad pulls this shit or anything similar on anyone else he'll be permabanned.

A soft brush can usually handle any dust that settles on a vinyl record. But how can listeners deal with more tenacious dirt and grime?
The Library of Congress shares a recipe for a cleaning solution of 2 mL of Dow Chemical’s Tergitol 15-S-7 in 4 L of deionized water. C&EN spoke with Paula Cameron, a technical service manager with Dow, to learn about the chemistry that helps the Tergitol surfactant get into—and out of—the groove.
Molecules in Tergitol 15-S-7 possess hydrophobic hydrocarbon chains that are between 11 and 15 carbon atoms long. The S means it’s a secondary alcohol, so there’s a hydroxyl jutting from the midsection of the hydrocarbon chain to connect it to a hydrophilic chain of repeating ethylene oxide units.
Finally, the 7 is a measure of how many moles of ethylene oxide are in the surfactant. The greater the number, the more water-soluble the compound is. Seven is squarely in the water-soluble category, Cameron says. Furthermore, she adds, the surfactant doesn’t become viscous or gel-like when mixed with water.
The end result is a mild, fast-rinsing surfactant that can get in and out of grooves quickly, Cameron explains. The bad news for vinyl audiophiles who might want to try this at home is that Dow typically doesn’t sell surfactants directly to consumers. Their customers are generally companies who make cleaning products.
Sadly Cameron doesn’t know of a consumer product that has similar properties. And the Library of Congress doesn’t guarantee this solution will satisfy all users.

Sometimes googling your questions is better than going to every forum under the sun and getting people to give smart answers.
    But what do I know...😕

technically yes and no. If the songwriters signed a publishing deal with a publisher, they could have assigned a percentage of those rights. really depends on the specifics of their deal. the underlying rights for a composition are also split 50% Writers Shares and 50% publishing. Even if a song writers deal includes 50% of the publishing rights, they really are only signing away 25% of every dollar that comes in on the pub side. Rights can also revert depending on the specifics of the deal.

For the master rights (ie recording), it depends on the deal with the label, but usually the label will own the rights and after so many years (by law) the artist can re-record, which you are seeing with a lot of older artists. This too also depends on the deal signed.

Record and publishing deals are become more and more favorable to the artists due to the access and ability to record/release music independently. However, having the backing of label/publisher can really help your career as they will typically spend money on marketing, since its an investment.  For every 10 artists that are signed to a big label, typically on 1-2 really see profit for the labels/publishers.

Unfortunately a lot of bands from the 90s/2000s only saw $$ when signing their deals and signed away their rights. Shady from the labels, but that's why its important to have a entertainment/contracts lawyer and not your best friend from high school managing/advising you.

I work for a major Music Publisher, so this is my wheelhouse.
