  1. Bringing back my account and this thread from the grave as my not-big-at-all podcast just got featured as one of Vulture’s favorite comedy podcasts for June, alongside Tim Heidecker’s podcast and Tom Scharplings’ podcast and other more known shows. Article (my podcast is San Antonio Public Library Rocks): https://www.vulture.com/2023/06/this-month-in-comedy-podcasts-how-to-delete-your-twitter.html If 3 fictional weirdos reviewing compact discs they checked out at the public library sounds like an interesting premise, check us out now that we are approved by cool indie publications. We also have an expanded Spotify music edition of the podcast with full songs spliced in for Spotify Premium members who listen to us on there. I hope someone digs it! https://www.linktr.ee/publiclibraryrocks
  2. My baby woke me up earlier than usual today so I was wide awake when the REM mail list got alerted before 7am PST. I bought the biggest bundle immediately. No regrets. I collect their live/rarities bootlegs and I think the most recent ones are from their Out of Time era. It would have been cool if these reissues could have filled the gap with some bonus LPs of live shows and demos.
  3. Got a regular silver. First time ordering from Madame Z. So, has anyone had to get a refund or replacement for a damaged record? I’m curious whether they genuinely think they can deny refunds in all cases, no exceptions, or whether that’s just to scare off people who want to keep their copy and get a refund because they have a corner ding.
  4. Also here’s the rough recording of the set: https://archive.org/details/tsp1998-01-15.sm57.flac16/tsp1998-01-15t06.flac The record is supposed to have a direct/proper recording.
  5. Commenting cause this actually seems very rad and worthy of the FOMO/urgency order. #Following
  6. This never shipped for me. I sent customer support a message and they said they’re looking into it. Did anyone else get their copy to ship?
  7. They should have framed it as a $40 donation to support Rough Trade and the arts and you get a free record as a thank you. (All kidding aside, this is how I sometimes think about it when I buy expensive merchandise at shows. Supporting a band you like while they're on tour and you get a little physical gift as a thanks.)
  8. Same. I had a 3-4 millimeter indentation across the grooves that caused loud clicks and they sent me a replacement.
  9. I sold a good 1/3 of my collection last year when I saw my Discogs collection value estimate and then I had a crystal clear vision of an earthquake or heatwave erasing my $25k of records in one fell swoop. I’d have sold more if I had time to play test and list more.
  10. So, the first batch of these shipped a while ago, right? And the second batch that went up was estimated to ship as late as July/August? I got a second batch copy and have received no updates or shipping notices.
  11. If you signed up recently, you won’t get this set. This is the 2020 set but majorly delayed and I believe the cutoff was a long time ago.
  12. If you told me the goobers on stage shouting and telling stories about showering with each other in a tiny venue as Anatomy of a Ghost would one day win a Grammy, I’d have also been in disbelief.
  13. R.E.M. Knowing that they are the energetic rock band that released Murmur/Reckoning adds to the feat of each sound shift in their career, IMO.
  14. It's bobbing up and down around 100 degrees in parts of SoCal. I'm uttering a pre-emptive RIP to any records that ship out to me over the next week.
  15. I love iam8bit. Every time I’m about to impulse buy one of their novelty releases, the price and/or lack of actual content on the releases kindly assuages me of said impulse purchase.
  16. Target’s Heyday player is $100 and comes with a weighted tone arm and replaceable stylus. It’s not super popular but it’s gotten decent reviews from people who’ve tried them and they have those specific features that everyone knocks Crosley for missing.
  17. I see ya but I have too much positive feedback and return buyers to risk losing my account for the convenience/fee savings.
  18. I have international buyers message me their address so I can get a quote. Then if they agree to the total cost, I temporarily open my shop to their country with their shipping quote as the universal flat fee and I cross my fingers that the buyer checks out quickly before some other dude from Finland buys 20 pop-punk records and bankrupts me in shipping costs.
  19. One good thing is, when someone buys a $250 record from me at 3am and then messages me at 10am to say their child stole their credit card, I can refund them from my pending payout with no charge. PayPal used to keep their transaction fee so I’d lose money each time I refunded someone who immediately canceled their “accidental” order.
  20. I think COVID halted production on their full suite of BLM merchandise.
  21. I feel like these will prob re-sell for $90 for a spell considering this was posted on VC and there have already been at least a few dozen flipper copies purchased. You’d be looking at 8-12 months before these get to $150+. And you’d need to hope the set doesn’t suck or have pressing issues, that the hardcore SP collectors who’d pay $200 don’t already own it by then, and that impatient flippers don’t panic unload their copies at cost in December.
