  1. I'm curious whether they'll actually sell the 8 song LP separately. It kinda...doesn't make sense as a release separate from the book? There's no longer a dearth of high quality National live releases on vinyl and this seems clearly like it's a low-energy, bonus add-on to make the book more appealing for their vinyl collecting fans. The National seem like they want everything they release to fit a certain level of thoughtfulness, so I would echo the above posts that any future pressing will come with some kind of slimmed down 'tether' item to the book, whether it's a paper back or an expanded jacket with a 35 page excerpt booklet or something. We'll see.
  2. I’m also personally not really into celebrity/band worship these days. Bands and artists achieve some pretty cool stuff and 20 years is a worthy milestone but these are normal people who happen to be in a successful band and it feels weird having giant font quotes of very important things they’ve said in a huge book on my coffee table. They’re my favorite band but I don’t want post-COVID guests to think I idolize their members. Lol.
  3. If you can drop $150 plus tax and shipping for an 8 song record, the LP does look pretty sweet. I’ve been burnt by the idealistic temptation of owning coffee table books in the past. I have 3-4 of those chunky guys collecting dust on my shelf, barely touched. So, this was an easy nope.
  4. About to jump on a Zoom call with the seller to explain that box sets are called “box sets” and not “box splits.”
  5. Someone make a JPG that says You wouldn’t split up a car. and then post it in this thread.
  6. This maniac would happily cut chunks of vinyl from a 1 LP record because he only liked a few of the songs. There’s no depths to his depravity.
  7. As someone who has split up box sets...PEOPLE ASK US TO! Lol. I've had people on Discogs send me profane private messages for selling individual pieces of a box set and, literally, every time I've done it, it's because no one wants to buy the full box and then I receive at least one message asking me if I'd list titles individually. And, magically, people buy the individual titles right away. I wonder if the angry Discogs users think I prefer to do 6 seperate transactions and get stuck with the 2 LPs no one wants and a bulky outer box instead of 1 transaction for everything.
  8. I know it’s not in their interest and would hurt their sales for future FOMO releases but labels should start investigating and canceling orders that end up on eBay same day as the pre-order sells out.
  9. Sliding a 2xLP record out from a single sleeve gives me chills down my spine. The inner sleeves rubbing against each other is like teeth grinding/nails on a chalkboard.
  10. My theory is a factory employee got hungry and thought no one would notice a small bite missing from several copies. His manager Talbot walks in, holding a red thermos filled with piping hot breakfast soup, the eggs still bubbling and small bits of bacon swimming up to the surface. Talbot looks towards his employee Reynaldo, mouth full of cardboard and hard vinyl, and gasps. “We don’t allow this,” Talbot whispers. Reynaldo turns in shame. “A part of me wonders,” Reynaldo says, “if I always wanted to get caught.” Talbot is silent. He grabs a clipboard and he writes on the attached paper. Reynaldo knows what it says but he can not resist looking. He walks behind Talbot and places his chin over his shoulder and reads: Make 18 more copies of the Yellowcard record. That’s what probably happened, based on the info shared above.
  11. What are the odds that the dude who flipped like 10 copies of this is now buying 10 more after seeing this thread?
  12. I keep forgetting this is the new name for a band I like. I also get curious each time I read an interview where they say they had to change their name but can’t say why.
  13. Just add “Fall Out Boy presents” above the title and include an audio forward by Pete Wentz about how Patrick Stump learned how to sing by mimicking Jamie Woolford. Boom. It’s now a FOB collectors item and FBR can press it with confidence.
  14. If he means that the mailer has to be sealed and never opened by the original buyer, it adds a needless stipulation to the agreement and enough of a question mark to warrant clarification. However, it’s possible they meant the record has to be still sealed and shipped in the original mailer (which can be opened but properly re-taped for a 2nd mail trip).
  15. He is gonna send you In Reverie sealed in a mailer and neither of you are allowed to open either package.
  16. I loved that EP. I was bummed that Aaron left the band and their full length took some steps backwards (IMO) and they quickly disbanded.
  17. I think I already said this weeks ago but the Aeffect EP. Only cause I saw them on Warped at the tiny Lobster Records stage that was set up on basically a walk way between two larger stages and I used to IM with their original singer and FBR employee Aaron. Make it happen, FOB estate managers!!!
  18. This is exactly the situation I’m in, except it was a bag of Japanese chips my wife and I threw down about an hour ago.
  19. I stopped listening after Before Everything & After came out. Is there a Cliffs Notes guide for all their albums since then? I seem to remember them getting away from the poppier, polished sound of their major label records but I could be misremembering and why listen for myself when I can ask on VC.
  20. I can’t not read this thread and think of this other very similarly titled band and record. https://www.salinasrecords.com/products/677904-swanning-drawing-down-the-moon-12
  21. Cruisin’ California feels like a post-2010 Aquabats b-side. In fact, it’s kind of sus that Dexter couldn’t have called fellow SoCal resident (at the time) MC Bat Commander to do a rap about booties over the bridge.
  22. This new LP is exactly the kind of fun nonsense I’d buy 4-5 years ago when I was going wild and collecting everything. I hope Phil keeps doing stuff like this and the “Drums from ____” releases.
  23. ^ Please. Edit: and please share the play by play somewhere where I can read it.
