  2. GYGAX Announce Sophomore LP, “Second Edition” Preorders available at www.creator-destructor.com! Southern California’s GYGAX have announced their highly anticipated sophomore LP release, “Second Edition”, out March 9th via Creator-Destructor Records! Following up where 2016’s “Critical Hits” left off, the 8 tracks that comprise “Second Edition” showcase GYGAX’s unrivaled and potent tendency to create absolutely anthemic rock n’ roll hits, chock-full of hip’ shakin’ grooves and twin guitar explosions that would make THIN LIZZY shed a tear of pride. Based out of Ventura, California, GYGAX presently features a four-piece lineup of musicians who are no strangers to the world of heavy metal; vocalist/bassist Eric Harris formerly of Gypsyhawk, Skeletonwitch and Sorcerer (and currently also filling bass duties in Huntress), and his Gypsyhawk partner-in-crime, guitarist Bryant Throckmorton continues to play alongside Harris in GYGAX. Jeff Potts, previously of Warbringer and Mantic Ritual, joins him on the other six-string, and rounding out the lineup perfectly is current Pentagram drummer Peter Campbell. “Second Edition” sees the band carrying on their unique blend of unadulterated vintage hard rock and gamer-centric imagery. Named after Gary Gygax (and blessed and approved by Gary Gygax Jr.), the band continues to showcase their love for Dungeons & Dragons, Thin Lizzy, and 70’s boogie-fueled metal and classic rock - a deadly infectious sonic offering measured in equal parts by Eric Harris’ thematic lyrics of magic spells and fantastical characters. After rapidly creating buzz with their local live performances, Gygax released their aptly titled debut LP ‘Critical Hits’ in January 2016, garnering stellar reviews worldwide. The band completed a highly successful two-week U.S. run in the summer of 2016, which included a headline appearance at the first ever Magic & Metal Festival at the Majestic Theater in Gygax’s hometown. In 2018, GYGAX are eager to embark on yet another successful chapter in their critical conquest, starting with a headlining West-Coast tour in mid-march! Dates are as follows: GYGAX “Second Edition” West Coast Tour March 8th - Oakland, CA @ Golden Bull w/ Glitter Wizard, Wilderness Dream March 9th - Portland, OR @ Twilight Cafe March 10th - Seattle, WA @ The Highline w/ T-Rox March 11th - Sacramento, CA @ Blue Lamp w/ Wilderness Dream March 12th - San Jose, CA @ The Ritz March 13th - Fresno, CA @ Full Circle Brewery w/ Glacier Eater March 15th - Reno, NV @ Shea’s Tavern March 16th - Nevada City, CA @ Cooper’s Alesworth March 17th - Los Angeles, CA @ 5 Star Bar

  8. Hello Vinyl Collective! The Gygax "Critical Hits" Repress is now available - This 2nd pressing is limited to 250pcs, and features Clear Vinyl w/ Black "Smoke" - This version looks incredible! $15 and we ship everywhere. Do it to it! http://creatordestructor.bigcartel.com/product/gygax-critical-hits-lp-2nd-pressing GYGAX is a no-frills, classic rock/heavy metal hybrid, heavily steeped in the imagery of fantasy literature and role playing games, and rooted in the musical stylings of metallic ‘70s rockers Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple, with equal parts metal and boogie-inducing groove. Though their name is attributed to the creator of Dungeons & Dragons, the band has described themselves more simply as “a beacon and an anthem for anyone who’s interests lie in creativity and the powers of imagination.” Hailing from Ventura, California, GYGAX was born out of the ashes of vocalist/bassist Eric Harris’ previous heavy-metal brainchild, Gypsyhawk, whose Patience & Perseverance 2xLP also saw release through Creator-Destructor in 2009. Bryant Throckmorton, who played second guitar in Gypsyhawk also joins Harris in GYGAX on guitar. When Gypsyhawk decided to disband, Harris and Throckmorton took some time alongside friend and fellow guitarist Armand John Lizzy to begin demoing new material, then solidifying their lineup with Justin Dempsey on drums. The debut from GYGAX, Critical Hits boasts nine feverishly triumphant burners backed by huge solos and even more massive choral melodies which come alive with a fuzzed-out and hazy attitude but immortalized with crystal clear production values on Critical Hits, an LP that could accidentally get sucked into your ragin’ uncle Bob’s dust-encrusted classic rock platters and your older brother’s equally grimy classic metal/early doom collection and blend right into either. Critical Hits Track Listing: 1. Lesser Magick 2. World Breaker 3. Draw Breath 4. The Rope of Shadow 5. Dirge For A Deposed Duke 6. Chain Lightning 7. Demons 8. Liliana 9. The Hunter’s Heart Pressing Info: -250pcs Pressed -Digital Download Included -180g. Colored Vinyl

  11. Ben Murray and Trey Derbes of HEARTSOUNDS have joined forces with Ryan Hansen (Light This City/Glacier Eater) and Bret Fontaine (The Business End) to create WILDERNESS DREAM, a thrash metal band from Oakland, California. The band’s 6 track debut EP is available for streaming in FULL now at Metalsucks.net – Check it out! The preorder for the Self-Titled 12″ EP has been launched as well in our online store– These will ship before October 13th, 2015. Get yours now at www.creator-destructor.com! Only 500 pressed! From Metalsucks.net: “Metal fans of a certain age and MetalSucks readers who were with us very early on (archive) may remember Light This City, a talented melodic death metal band from San Francisco who for a brief moment seemed poised to break through. The band broke up in 2008, but drummer and band co-founder Ben Murray continued making music with Heartsounds (together with LTC vocalist Laura Nichol) and releasing music by that band and others on his label, Creator Destructor. Murray is back with another new project, this one decidedly more metal than Heartsounds (and possibly more than Light This City, too). In Wilderness Dream Murray drops his drumsticks in favor of a guitar pick and a microphone, and he’s joined by Ryan “Hollywood” Hansen (who played on LTC’s Stormchaser album) on guitar and Trey Derbes from Heartsounds on drums. Murray describes the band as sounding like “Sacrifice meets Ringworm meets Cursed,” and that’s really not that far off — it’s fast and furious, it’s got roots in both metal and hardcore and it’s melodic without being cheesy at all.”
