  1. before I had to sell it, my fave was probably the Anti-Flag/Dread split: http://burntwolf.com/index.php?title=Anti-Flag/The_Dread I've been looking for the Dwarves Blood Guts Pussy pic disc for a while. I scored a red vinyl copy cheap at a record store. I was also stoked when I found Mudhoney's Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge cheap. http://burntwolf.com/index.php?title=Every_Good_Boy_Deserves_Fudge Oh, and 500 Miles to Glory comp I thought was a cool pic disc. http://burntwolf.com/index.php?title=500_Miles_to_Glory The Strike Anywhere To Live in Discontent I thought was cool too: http://burntwolf.com/index.php?title=To_Live_in_Discontent Those Rancid/OpIvy pic discs were especially lame because they were super lazy and just got off the tracklist when they ran out of space.
  2. Oh, btw, if anyone has any suggestions for getting the word out, that'd be cool too. I've made postcards and dropped them off at the Berkeley Ameoba and some store I was at in Richmond, VA when I went back to the Inquisition shows. I plan to throw those in on any eBay auctions I do and drop them off at record stores I visit. I've put the word out on various message boards. The best response I got so far was when Virgil mentioned it on Vinyl Collective. I obviously don't have any kind of budget for banner ads or any of that stuff.
  3. Well, I think it's great too! Haha. I'm moving this week and this month has been crazy busy for me so I haven't had a chance to get back to it lately. I got most of my past and present LPs up, but I still have a bunch of 7 inches to post and more work to do on the documentation. I'm glad other people are finally discovering it. Thanks for adding to it for sure. I do keep an eye on the recent changes everyday. It's only going to be as good as the community that contributes to it, and I'm definitely open to any suggestions (there is a Discussion tab on the Main Page). My original idea was to focus on vinyl and stores everywhere that still carry vinyl, but I had hoped it would grow to include anything collectible w/ limited runs. We'll see how it goes. I hope to be able to afford the 100 bucks a year to host it for a while. I don't think we'll reach the storage or bandwith limits of Dreamhost for a while.
  4. i paid $100 for JSBX Reverse Willie Horton a long time ago. Now they barely go for $45. And I sold a white copy of the Screeching Weasel Ramones for $100 and bought the tour pressing for $100. I've sold a bunch for obscene amounts of money, which was awesome when I had to liquidate 90% of my collection when I was out of work. I sold the RFTC CutnPlay 12" on blue for $300, and I think the NOFX Decline on clear went for $350 or so. Some of them were hard to part w/, but if someone wants to drop that much on a record, they can have it and I'll take their money. Oh, someone paid like $220 for The Anniversary Sub Pop Single, and I've still never figured out why, they never went for more than $80 before or since. I think the only record I'd pay more than 100 bucks for now is that face to face 1st pressing.
  5. I was never much into the band, but I always thought the name Sweep the Leg Johnny was awesome...
  6. Oh, I forgot... Nothing Rhymes With Orange!!! i wish i knew where those girls ended up. They were a local Chico (CA) band and I was their #1 groupie fan. I never missed a show. They have one 7" out (on orange vinyl) and a track on a local comp but they never managed to capture how fun they were live on that stuff. Of course, being shitfaced drunk at every show probably skewered my fond recollections.
  7. Yea, it can be a little tedious dealing w/ wiki syntax. There are a couple ways to do it. If an artist page already exists, you can Edit the page to add a release. You put the release in double brackets, e.g., [[My Record]], then save. The link to that page will be in red, then you can click on it and create the page. I have set up templates to use for adding releases (and new artists page). When you create a new page for a release, type in {{subst:releases}} and save the page (it is set to preview the page first though, then you can save). Then the stuff will show up that you can fill in, delete, add to, etc. (You do that by adding a page). To add pictures, you change the template part where the cover art is to a filename that makes sense. When you save the page, the link will be red. You can then click on it and upload the picture. Browsing the categories or doing a search will show what artists pages have been created. If you do a search and the artist is not there, you can Create the page. Again, using a template, you type in {{subst:artists}} and save the page. Then edit the page to add releases. It prob sounds harder than it is, but after a few entries it gets easier (I think). There are some tutorials on the main page too, but I prob need to work on those a bit more. There is also a Discussion tab off the main page for FAQs and stuff. And there is a "Sandbox" where you can practice before mutilating wiki pages. =) At least, I think I got that working. I should go check that. Anyway, PM me or send a message to burntwolf at burntwolf.com I would like to see the wiki grow and get as much info as possible, so I'm happy to help bring people up to speed on the wiki universe.
  8. The SACD of Dark Side of the Moon is amazing, but I wasn't blown away by the DVD-A of Kind of Blue or Shape of Punk to Come. Those are the only 3 I've tried. My new DVD player plays SACD and DVD-A so I gave those few a shot. I wouldn't bother w/ picking up anything in those formats again though. I agree that 128kps iTunes mp4s sound like ass, esp on anything other than earbuds. For headphones, CDs and higher bitrate mp3s sound fine to me w/ headphones or in the car or something. Honestly, I don't have much time to listen to stuff at home as much these days, so I don't even listen to too much of my vinyl except when I make a specific effort to drag something out. A lot of times when I do though, I'm impressed by how great it sounds on vinyl and sometimes I'll pick up on something that I hadn't really heard before.
  9. yea, that's why i started Burnt Wolf to keep track of that stuff sometimes labels post it and then it disappears (Jade Tree) or bands (LTJ still has their discog available, but it's not obvious)
  10. well, when I was out of work, I had to part with 90% of my collection, including a lot of prized ones...but from what I have left: The complete series of Clearview/Selfless/Cold Front Ramones tribute albums JSBX - A Reverse Willie Horton JSBX - Orange on silver vinyl, signed by band Against Me - Former Clarity 2xLP both on white, both on black Dwarves - Blood, Guts, Pussy on red vinyl Misfits - Static Age on red vinyl Misfits - 12 Hits from Hell Drag the River discog Inquisition - Revolution 1st and 2nd pressings Strike Anywhere - Chorus of One 1st pressing Matt from Strike Anywhere's solo LP -- 100 sold at shows
  11. RFTC was really out of gas last time I saw them, but they were great in their prime. The Pixies reunion was pretty awesome, they were just as great as ever. And the 2 Inquisition shows were frickin' great last month. Operation Ivy would be interesting but I can't imagine that would be any good. I never got to see Screeching Weasel or the Vindictives or Jawbreaker live. I would've liked to. ATDI I had chances but never made it either. Drag the River would be my #1 reunion. i thought the Groovie Ghoulies were long since done, but that new record had me kinda bummed they broke up. Since the Pixies and Dinosaur Jr got back together, Uncle Tupelo is #1 on my list of highly improbable and likely to never ever happen reunions. Um...how about the original 3-piece lineup of face to face? haha... For Kid Dynamite fans, go see the Shook Ones...I bet if people put on their records and told them they were new KD records, people would believe it.
  12. I searched for them when Ben posted that a while back. I couldn't find any website or myspace page for them.
  13. the RFTC Sub Pop single only had 84 on black and 2900 on blue. there is a full album stream of the Gaslight record here: http://www.punknews.org/bands/gaslightanthem

  17. I picked up a USB stereo audio box from Costco for $50 and that works great w/ my laptop and receiver. I use the LP Ripper software that was included, but have also used Audacity to split tracks, and I've used Exact Audio Copy and CD Wave Editor, as well. I haven't done it in a while, but actually I think I used CD Wave Editor to split tracks. If I remember right, I liked it better and/or it was easier to use than Audacity. Costco also has a cheap turntable w/ built-in USB: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11182925&search=turntable&Mo=0&cm_re=1_en-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search〈=en-US&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Sp=S&N=0&whse=BC&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=Text_Search&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=4000000&D=turntable&Ntt=turntab le&No=0&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1 I used the Oink guide to ripping LPs, but I think you have to be able to log in to view the forums there.
