My original of this doesn't sound terrible but it could use the 2LP treatment at some point. 

I don't have much complaints about the Rhino reissues I have but I haven't heard the holy grail pressings. Out of my budget.

I have a Pro-Ject VCS, which is much more affordable than a VPI. Works great.

At this point...how many years now? 5? 10?...it's just funny how many people are still salty about Virgil. 
 
Every time I see a post or some "life updated" about/by him...I'm all "cool"...and move on. I have bigger & worse things to worry & be concerned about.

MOV has also done really great pressings, btw. They are almost all, if not all, digitally sourced, but still have been pretty great imo. I have a bunch of those. 
 
Plain, on the other end of the digitally sourced spectrum, almost always suck. But i have a couple that aren't terrible. As an only option until a better reissue comes along when the orig. pressing is super expensive.
 
Rhino is super hit/miss. For a while, they couldn't get shit right. 
 

i think the tone poet ones are done by same people who did music matters (kevin gray). 

Go buy $1 records in rough shape. That way you won't have to feel bad about destroying them further. You'll soon be a huge James Last and Lawrence Welk fan!

Don't play your records on a crosley.  Problem solved. 

if you thought 2011 was great, you should've been around in 2002...you could find loads of great finds in the stores and they were practically giving them away pushing the vinyl off into corners of the store...
