Yeah, same.  We're the minority in not being streamers, I suppose.  But I hate having to double-dip for a digital copy when I've already purchased the wax.

This seems to be a trend.  I remember reading that Translation Loss and maybe a couple of other labels started leaving out the DL cards also due to a low redemption rates.  It's a bummer because most of my listening is in my car or on my Ipod.

ahhhhh fuckkkk you are right. I was confused - Markov Soroka is the same guy as SLOW/Aureole/Tchornobog -- appreciate the correction!

I don't think there is any relationship between Markov Soroka and MSW/Hell.

Crystal Coffin's "Transformation Room" is available for the first time on vinyl, and it's limited to 200. This is one of my favorite records of 2020. It's vicious and catchy, but thoughtfully layered and really holds up to repeated listens.

If it's any consolation, I ordered the similar Tchornobog LP/painting set from Markov through bandcamp back in 2019. I had a similar experience there in that it took quite a number of months before it was delivered, but he did reply back to messages through bandcamp & in the end it was worth it once it arrived.

Good luck with the order, I hope it ends up getting sent

I did this for the Tchornobog package with painting. I got a lot of promises, delays, and then he said it shipped. It did not. I had to file a Paypal claim. I would do so immediately.

There was no DL card with the two copies I bought.  I think usually with Dark Descent you have to order through Bandcamp to get the digital copy.

Just wanted to pop in and remind everyone that this album still fucks.  I’m no longer playing it once a day, and I think the holy shit we finally got new Tool factor has probably worn off for a lot of folks... but the record, for what it is, still goes hard and delivers.  10/10 chugs for days.  Patiently waiting on the day my wallet can be reamed for an overpriced vinyl press of it.

    ^this.

FWIW, I'm not a Tool die hard, but I think the song sounds great. I really like the mix too. It's very crisp and clear, and not compressed to fuck. I like that Maynard's vocals sit kind of low in the mix, and I bet the next song in the album sequence opens up. I'm really looking forward to the album, and I hope we get a proper vinyl release. I don't give a shit about packaging bells and whistles, I just want a nice, clean, black vinyl copy of the album.

    Sooooo...let me understand this.

Dude walks in here and gives his honest & lengthy opinion & review of the song as a fan of the band, and people are giving him shit & calling him pretentious?!?!

Get the fuck out of here with that shitty attitude. He’s a fan who loves the band & expressed his appreciation.  If you don’t like it, take your toxic bashing somewhere else.

Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate.

I find it really weird. I have not listened to "Fear Inoculum" yet. I've heard "Invincible" and "Descending" live in person and on some super high quality live bootlegs on YouTube. I think compositionally in terms of song structure, those two songs feels Lateralus-styled but progressed from that point of composition. It did not really feel like a continuation of 10,000 Days. Obviously each player has their own signature style but I think its doing oneself a great disservice to not attempt to look past the surface of the sound the band has and find the subtle uniqueness that each song builds using those same ingredients. If you half-listen to any of their songs waiting for a special guest to come in and do a hook and flip the whole dynamic of the core band on its head, you're listening to the wrong band. If you're looking for traditional tropes of a growing and changing artist or band that is led by a single songwriter who decides now we have a fiddle and an accordion on this track and then we have a piano leading these two tracks and we're ex-Beatles who are writing 3 minute pop songs, you're listening to the wrong band. These guys paint with the same brushes and explore how to make new textures using the same types of voices and the same exact instrumentation for the most part on every album. They go in a room and follow eachother's lead for a hours on end and construct "songs" using the parts they liked best from the improvised communications they share using essentially the same 3 to 4 instruments, the electric of which are generally dialed into to produce the same types of sounds as they've made for all the albums they've done together. They may progress in some ways on their own instruments but they have their established voices. If you're not coming to Tool with this realization and you don't find yourself interested in how they will paint the soundscape under these particular circumstantial/instrumental constants then I don't know why you would keep expecting to be wowed only to be let down. We all know how Tool writes. We know the process. We know the instruments. You have to be looking at their output from the standpoint of knowing the limitations of what's included.

Courtyard Brewery is really good, but it is down near the WW2 Museum and the Convention Center.  Brieux Carre was great as well and is just outside the French Quarter.  If you walk east from Jackson Square you pretty much run right into it.
