  1. I would echo the sentiment someone said earlier of maybe trying to work in another local record store to pick the owner's brain and get a good idea of how the business is handled, day to day stuff, etc. It may turn out you don't even like it. Many people get the idea in their head that they want to own a small business and sell something that they love. A great idea on the face of it but it's so much more than that. I'm not actively trying to discourage you (or anyone who dreams of these things) but while being a small business owner can be fun and rewarding it is even more grueling and stressful. You will find yourself working harder and longer hours than anything you probably have previously done for less or, in many cases, no money. Think long and hard about it before throwing your savings and time into a small business. Again, I'm really not trying to discourage you but many businesses fail because people don't know what they are getting into. If you are passionate, have drive, are a hard worker and have money that you can afford to lose without destroying your life then give it a go. Just be sure to have a plan and go in as best prepared as possible. Good luck!
  2. Damn this came out of left field. Wish I had checked this site earlier in the day before the email blast went out. /500 will have to do. I hate missing out on shit!
  3. Still looking for that Prine set if anyone has any type of lead on that one. I think the reissues they are putting out individually are essentially the same thing but if I could get the set I’d prefer that. Not looking to pay stupid prices on it though.
  4. https://www.bullmoose.com/p/34717159/julien-baker-turn-out-the-lights-cloud-in-clear-vinyl up on bull moose for anyone who missed out on matador
  5. I love Oceania but I never gave Monuments a fair listen. But I agree, Shiny Vol 1 is very forgettable.
  6. Got everything I wanted except for that Prine set if anyone happens to see that bad boy floating around.
  7. Just trying to curb purchases overall but want to see more before pulling the trigger.
  8. I'm already liking these new singles way better than anything on Shiny Vol 1. Hope the album delivers overall.
  9. There's a cool interview with the creator here: http://videogamegrooves.com/2020/08/08/interview-chrono-trigger-box-set/ There's also an accompanying podcast talking about it but the hosts are pretty damn insufferable and it doesn't have the creator on it. Aside from that it's obviously from one of those private Facebook groups, I don't have any information on it unfortunately. If you want it enough there are people selling it. I managed to get one but it did cost an arm and a leg. Depends on how badly you want it I guess.
  10. Anyone care to share some pictures? I cancelled my preorder and now I'm kind of regretting it.
  11. You can add additional tracks (and get rid of them month to month) as you please. However, if they sell out a title on a track that you are not currently subscribed to then you won’t be able to add it. This does happen from time to time. This was a month that I’m pretty interested in so I added the two other tracks and, more than likely, will cancel them after this next month.
  12. This is actually a really good month on all tracks. I got my sub until December so going to try and get the most out of it until the end.
  13. Damn that’s pretty good. I was going to get the signed one but that’s too nice of a price.
  14. As stated this is only the first of four. There's a 24 CD compilation that has, what I assume, what will be included in the next three vinyl sets. You can check the rest of what's to come on that link. No studio version of After All The Roads Have Led to Nowhere listed though.
  15. Pretty cool box set here, first of four. Signed edition of 750 available through indie retailers via this link: https://www.demonmusicgroup.co.uk/bob-mould-distortion/ Available to order now, Distortion: 1989-2019, a chronicle of the solo career of Bob Mould and his band Sugar released on the 2nd October 2020. Presented as a 12” x 12” hardbound book, this massive anthology compiles — for the first time — Bob Mould’s recorded work from 1989 onwards: 18 studio albums, plus 4 live albums and 2 albums of rarities and collaborations. Assembled with Bob Mould’s full involvement, featuring new sleeve notes from UK music critic Keith Cameron, and exclusive new artwork by Simon Marchner, this is the definitive portrayal of an American rock icon. “It’s called Distortion because it describes the music and it fits the world we live in,” says Mould himself. “In this new age, everybody shares their life in real time. But I’m not done yet. If I didn’t have a constantly active career, this anthology might feel like the proverbial dirt landing on top of my coffin — though somehow I seem to be able to crawl my way out of the dirt every time!” As Mould’s musical trajectory enters its fifth decade, now is the perfect moment to reflect on the journey so far. Distortion’s 24CD box set features 295 tracks, mastered by Jeff Lipton and Maria Rice at Peerless Mastering in Boston, and includes every solo album from 1989’s Workbook to 2019’s Sunshine Rock, the entire Sugar catalogue, Mould’s long out-of-print electronica projects LoudBomb and Blowoff, and 4 live albums spanning the period 1989-2008. Also included is Distortion Plus: 1989-2019, a new and exclusive collection of rarities and collaborations, featuring such highlights as ‘Dear Rosemary’, Mould’s 2011 collaboration with Foo Fighters, his fabled Golden Palominos contribution ‘Dying From The Inside Out’, plus a previously unreleased demo version of ‘Dog On Fire’, his theme tune for Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. The 72-page booklet features sleeve notes by Cameron, new interviews with Bob, a foreword by writer and actor Fred Armisen, testimonials by Richard Thompson, Shirley Manson and Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, plus lyrics and unseen memorabilia. The Amazon exclusive CD box, strictly limited to 1000 units worldwide, features the box and an exclusive 12”x 12” print hand-signed by Bob Mould. 24CD Box set – 1989-2019 – https://smarturl.it/Bob_Mould_Distortion Also released on the 2nd October 2020 is the first in a series of 4 vinyl box sets spanning the same 30-year period. Distortion: 1989-1995, an 8LP box set, contains Workbook through Sugar’s final studio album File Under: Easy Listening, plus Besides, a compilation of Sugar B-sides and non-album tracks, as well as Distortion Plus: 1989-1995 — a new and exclusive collection of rarities and collaborations. Each album is mastered by Jeff Lipton and Maria Rice, pressed on 140g clear splattered vinyl, and features new Simon Marchner sleeve artwork plus a 28-page companion booklet with new sleeve notes, lyrics and memorabilia. The indie exclusive 8LP vinyl box edition — strictly limited to 750 copies worldwide — includes a 12”x12” screen-print of the new Copper Blue album cover, hand signed by illustrator Simon Marchner and Bob Mould.
  16. I agree. Perhaps there will be one or two exclusives a year I'd feel like I would need at that price point, tops. But they are actively discouraging multi-month plans because who wants to roll the dice at such an expensive price point? Even the yearly membership has each month coming in at $33 for something you may not even like. Insanity. Personally, I think the company is in a death spiral and has been for some time. This reeks of absolute desperation and their giant shipping mishaps from a few months ago probably greatly accelerated their demise. I assume they were already dealing with thin profit margins and that just put them in the red with no way out. Whoever is steering that ship is just woefully inadequate.
  17. This company won't exist in a year. Those are truly outrageous prices. I've been an off and on member for the past few years but there are not many exclusives that would reel me in for $43 a month. I have a six month sub ending in December, that'll likely be it for me unless they get some absolutely insane albums.
  18. Let’s all just calm down and watch this video from Manson’s last album.
  19. Brink of Time! I have that CD floating around somewhere, some really cool versions on that thing. Loved the cover too.
