morfiend got a reaction from AndyNewton in PO: Nirvana - In Utero (3LP 20th Anniversary)
Waaaay overpriced, which is disappointing. May have to wait until these go on sale somewhere.

How is this milking anything exactly? As far as vinyl goes, this album has been in and out of print for the last twenty years, and the CD has remained exactly the same. This is the first real reissue of this album, and all they're doing is compiling all the recordings from that era in one package, which makes sense for a band like Nirvana whose influence was massive, but whose discography spans only 3 albums.

The red looks pretty good. I may have to grab a copy of it. Such an influential and awesome album.

morfiend reacted to AustraloRex in PO: Black Clouds - Everything Is Not Going To Be Okay (RIYL: Dark, powerful post-rock)
Thanks man! I totally just pre-ordered a copy of Carcass' Heartwork from you, can't wait to get my hands on that.
Thanks Casey!

morfiend got a reaction from Shitty Rambo in Dexter season 8
Solid episode, I enjoyed it. To me, the series peaked with Jon Lithgow as the Trinity killer, they haven't come close to topping that season.

morfiend got a reaction from nothingnatural in PO: Nirvana Incesticide Reissue on Green (7/9)
I'd like to see "With The Lights Out" pressed on vinyl. I know several bootlegs exist with most of the tracks but they sound cleaned up on that box set.

okay I had never listened to EitS before I saw the preorder came up. I knew them and whatnot but instrumental post-rock never seemed to tickle my fancy. Explosions in the Sky fucking rocks!!!

morfiend reacted to sharkticon in Whats the best Explosions in the Sky album?
The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
The LP is CD sourced though. No real benefit in having it over a cd or high quality download.

morfiend reacted to radiatorhums in Nine Inch Nails- Hesitation Marks- Halo 28- Sept 3
I'm not a fan of either band in the slightest and I still enjoyed it quite a bit. It spends a fair amount of time focusing on the studio throughout the 70s and 80s and I didn't feel like it was Nirvana heavy at all.

morfiend got a reaction from nothingnatural in PO: Alice in Chains - The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here
Some of the best AIC tracks ever are the mellower ones......Jar of Flies anyone? I don't care if its heavy or mellow, if its a good song its a good song. To each his own though.

Good price for a decent record. S/t will always be my favorite though, love the tunes, drumming and raw production on that one.

morfiend reacted to steventangent in PO: Black Sabbath - 13
Honestly, if people hate this release altogether, then I don't know what it is they were hoping for. It's not perfect, but it's three old fucks making music 40 years after they drew the template for everyone else. And while one and a half listens through headphones while I read the news isn't enough to let it all soak in, I still feel like it's bristling with a surprising amount of creativity.

To those that bought both the deluxe 45 RPM and indie/regular editions, is there a big difference in sound?

The first three can't be fucked with but I still love this.

Desert Ceremony is far and away my favorite track. I also really like Mind Crawler but the whole album is good from top to bottom.
