I agree completely. I’m a pretty big fan from way back and have mostly first pressings of their early catalogue, so I’ll bite even if it is simply an alternate version. If I’m being honest, I’d have to admit that I’d even buy a chopped and screwed version of this album.

I also got the same insert showing it as an upcoming release. Interesting point that this might just be an alternate version. I’ll let everyone know if I hear anything relevant from the label.

Oh, I know it wasn’t directed at me. We both had the same response to seeing some RSD shit literally 6 months in advance. It’s a bit much. I would not normally encourage something like that by posting it here, but ultimately decided that since Narnack is a cool indie label, and is definitely not doing this as some marketing ploy, and they are allowing pre-orders for an in demand title, that I’d help spread the word. It was a hard call to make. I know RSD can get cringey with the over the top antics some of the labels, fans, and sellers engage in. I really don’t want to be one of those people or encourage them, but this felt different.

I know, man. Hell, it ain’t even Thanksgiving yet. If they weren’t letting fans email direct to reserve copies I wouldn’t have even posted this, but I would hate to sit on that and have users here miss out on this release. Narnack is pretty bad at keeping things in print, and I could see this being impossible to get for a lot of people. I’ve been waiting on this to get reissued for years. I’m still pretty pissed at myself for not getting it the first time around.

I know it’s crazy to start a thread for RSD 2019 this early, but I just came across a release that I thought people should know about and thought it couldn’t hurt to go ahead and do the damn thing. On Narnack’s Bandcamp page they’ve teased that they’re going to be rereleasing Thee Oh Sees’s Cool Death of Island Raiders for RSD in April 2019. It looks like this’ll be an expanded version with alternates and outtakes. The Bandcamp page for this alternates and outtakes version also has different album art than the original release. I’m not sure if this will be the final cover or not but thought some people may be interested in that. Most importantly, they’re encouraging people to email them directly to reserve a copy. I think it’s great that they are allowing fans to order direct and avoid the crowds on RSD and also avoid flippers on Discogs and eBay. Just went back and listened to this again. I didn’t like it much the first couple of times I heard it but really liked it the third time for some reason. I’d definitely encourage anyone into hip hop instrumentals to spend some time with this one. It was hard to justify spending $35 on this($10 US shipping), but I know I’m going to regret not getting it. Thanks for sharing the link. Glad it motivated me to check this out again.

Got it. I was wondering if it was the same ten club. I was a member back in the nineties when they did t shirts and 7”s every Christmas. I didn’t realize they’d starting doing exclusive pressings.

Definitely had to grab these. My favorite 80s Sub Pop releases by far. What’s up with the 10 club by the way? Is this something new their doing in addition to the loser editions they’ve been doing for years?

So my package showed up today completely fucked on one side. Thankfully these were double boxed and had tons of packing material in the outer box. Mine arrived 100% perfect. All corners are crisp and there are no seam splits. Really top notch packing on this order. The packaging likewise wise is top notch. I’m really glad I got these. I won’t be able to play them until this afternoon, but so far, so good. No need to worry about cheap packaging or cheap packing from amazon.jp. Hope everyone starts getting their orders today.

Really wish this wasn’t $40. Kinda torn about getting it. I know I’ll be happier getting something more reasonably priced, but have little faith that I’ll be able to keep from ordering it. Looks like mine will be here tomorrow as well. It never showed up today and now has an estimated delivery date of tomorrow. Either way, really excited to get these. I hope they were packed well for the trip. Something tells me replacement copies will be hard to come by. Aren’t these sold out everywhere? I haven’t seen an active listing for any of these titles for a while.

My order from amazon.jp is out for delivery. I have no idea if I’ll be getting all or part of my order. My order updates have all been in Japanese, but I think based on the number of emails I’ve received with different titles named in the subject line, that it should be most if not all of my order. Has anyone else gotten any notifications or received their packages yet? I’m really excited to get these and would like to hear what other people think if they’ve gotten their shipments yet.

I agree completely that Deerhunter are one of the best bands of all time. I feel like them and Big Star are probably the best bands to ever come out of the south. I’m always surprised that this band isn’t more popular. I’m really looking forward to this. Anyone catch how limited this variant is?

The way to win this is to ultimately get some broader coverage of this rampant fraud. Again, it happens in small dollar amounts and is a con job only pulled by a few shady label owners, but if we stand up to these clowns, and make their artists and business partners aware of this practice, we can cut this stuff out. I ask again, what artists would want to be on a label like this? In an era when physical media sales are a coveted source of revenue, no artist would want to be associated with fraud and bullying like what Todd has done to some of us. It doesn’t just begin and end with artists. Distrubutors, stores, and sites like Bandcamp would also like to know about this stuff. It continues because none of us complain or make noise. We all just think, “Oh, it’s only $25. No big deal. It’s just the cost of doing business.” We excuse this bad behavior for thieves like Todd Ledford. Whether or or not this shit continues is up to us.

You should read my edit to my first comment on this thread. Basically the the situation is this: Todd Ledford has been taking preorders for his label and only filling a small amount of them for about two years. He’s stolen thousands at least and possibly tens of thousands. I think on the high end, we’re looking at $30,000 to $40,000 in ill-gotten gains. There have been at least four releases that he’s put out on his label and pulled this stunt. Even if he only gets a few thousand each time, it still adds up. The truth is we don’t know how much he stole unless we start to add it up. I bet it’s a lot more than any of us think. There are are other labels who pull this stuff, and make no mistake, it will continue until we hold somebody accountable.

But I doubt he’s hiding behind an LLC. That seems to be beyond his skill set of being a scuzzy rip off artist Edit: I want to be clear, I would never suggest something like this lightly, but it really does seem like this guy enjoys being a bully and I for one am willing to put some work in to prevent anyone else from getting ripped off by this guy.

So I wound up getting into a pretty long argument with Todd Ledford on Reddit today. He was as condescending and combative as ever, including mocking users who were asking *nicely* about the status of their orders that were placed in January of 2017. Not gonna lie, I went really hard against him. Definitely confronted that dude in a way that I typically reserve for only the worst trolls. He even went so far as to offer to explain how PayPal has kept him from filling orders in some case for as long as 22 months if I’d only pony $5,000 to wager. His only stipulation was that I provide proof of funds. I offered him $10,000 instead, complete with pics of my account balance. He of course shut down. If you want to watch that dude slowly die inside on this thread, I recommend checking out this link: That dude literally went months without answering emails and messages yet found the time to go on this thread today and troll the people he’s swindled. Im seriously starting to think maybe we should band together and try to press charges on this guy. He’s clearly committing fraud and he seems to relish in other people’s misery. How many of us are still waiting on our orders? I feel like if we could provide documentation as to the extent of this fraud, that we’d be able to make some headway in the courts. I’m willing to cover any legal expenses for the group, including hiring a lawyer if we need. At this point I don’t even care about the money this guy stole from me, or that he’s ignored my emails. I don’t even mind that he’s called me retarded when he has messaged me. I just want to see this righted. It’s true that we’re talking about many small transactions, but given that they involve credit cards, the internet, interstate commerce, etc. I’m sure it meets the threshold to be considered a felony. Even if if we could just get a total dollar amount stolen of a few thousand bucks, I think we can get this guy prosecuted. Anyone else with me on this? Edit: I feel the need to point out that he’s been nonfilling preorders from his label for the last two years or so at least. Based on comments I’ve seen here and on other sites, it’s entirely possible this guy has stolen tens of thousands of dollars since the winter of 2016/2017. It may seem small when any one of us gets taken for $30, but on the aggregate, this guy has made out like a bandit. To be clear: just because he’s stolen money in dribs and drabs doesn’t mean that this isn’t in actuality a pretty sizable fraud case.
