Thanks for the input @bluethumb
Yah if I did mess with a needle change I would bypass the red from what I have read.
I went budget with my speakers and just grabbed a pair I found used in good shape for pretty cheap they are Yamaha NS-333
I am looking to upgrade the speakers fairly soon and will likely put these on my patio, do you have several suggestions for speakers so I can keep an eye out for something that comes up?

Keep it simple, the Debut III doesn't have a TON of adjustments possible outside of cartridge alignment.
Check out this article for some good pointers on the differences: https://www.vinylengine.com/protractor-user-guide.shtml
Thanks for the article share @bluethumb
what other adjustments would be major jumps in audio quality?
I was kind of thinking with a cartridge/needle upgrade this would be a solid turntable for quite some time. Was kind of curious about, with an awesome needle in this table what separates it in audio quality from the turntable the next price bracket up (in audio quality).

I was also looking at Marantz PM5005 and a few other similar types. But maybe there is some good vintage equipment that would be better suited for my situation?
Yes, the Marantz PM5005 has a phono input, Its one of the ones I was looking at before I ultimately ended up with my Yamaha AS500 (also has a phono input).
If you keep an eye out for these used you can usually find a pretty good deal. My AS500 used with a really scratched up volume up knob cost me around $100 and I eventually just ordered a new volume knob from Yamaha for like $7 or something and the entire amp looks brand new now. If you're patient for used you'll come across something.
I added a few amp models to my eBay search so I got a notification when that model number was listed. Also search/set notifications for stuff like 'let go', 'offer up' and facebook marketplace.
GOOD LUCK!

this video seems relevant..... (hope it helps)
I actually just came across this video the other day. Was always curious what a needle upgrade on the Pro-ject would do to this test since I think in this video its rocking an Ortofon 2M.

Got a pretty good deal on a Pro-ject Debut III w/ Acrylic platter upgrade, Sumiko Pearl, Pro-ject Speedbox II and the Pro-ject Phono Box II. It's all hooked up to my Yamaha AS500 and I am pretty happy so far. A pretty sizable jump from my LP60.
Anyway, was messing with my cartridge alignment(didnt have to worry about this with my lp60, haha), the cartridge alignment protractor I picked up is the Baerwald alignment, hadn't considered which type of protractor before buying. Seems like there wouldn't be a huge difference between Baerwald and Loefgren but was curious if anyone had any input.
Thanks! Also open to any other setup tips, I've been reading quite a bit since acquiring this setup.

didn't even know these guys were still making music, this is awesome.

solid suggestion, thanks for sharing I just got a Pro-ject so will pay attention to this

So a Technics SL-1311 in really good shape recently popped up for sale around me. Looking at upgrading but not in a huge rush so just keeping an eye out for deals. Curious if anyone had thoughts on how this table compares to the Technics 1200, 1800 and the other high end tables. Any input or thoughts would be appreciated.

$52.89 for a “limited” 4K drop. Haha. Bought because I’m a sucker. How long til 4K sell out?
Im pretty new to vinyl, but whats a typical run? 4k seems really high.... Curious what "standard" is in general and for this genre.

Want this but I'm terrified of the price.
Same, not going to bother though if its much over $40 thats pretty unreasonable imo, especially if its just the vinyl.
I want it but not that bad...
Funny considering I can roll over to fat and can pick up albums for $12

Rad.......Surely Fat will drop it
I hope so I’d prefer to grab it on their site.

Letgo, OfferUp and Facebook marketplace are better than craigslist now imo. Less flooded with crap.

@aviolentworld bought a bunch of stuff from this guy, fantastic seller, fantastic packaging, will buy from again
-
Purchased several records from this list, all fantastic and accurately described.
Excellent person to work with, 10/10 will buy from again.

Oh man, watching this for sure.
They did the yearly club or whatever this year it looked like for 2003 albums and the repress of war on errorism had the trump art on the front(fetches a pretty penny on ebay rn). Are these annual clubs typical from FAT? is there somewhere to get more info? really sad I missed out on this....

Make sure you check out your local craigslist/offerup/letgo/facebook marketplace. I get a really good deal on those sites with some of my stuff like speakers and other things.. You can also watch searches on them, like I get a notification in my area whenever anything with "Technics" in the title is listed.

I mostly listen to like punk/thrash/some metal/some classics is this club worth looking into?
I don't really listen to a ton of hip hop (but I do listen to music across the spectrum the above are just my typically preferred categories) if you're curious here is my collection so far: https://www.discogs.com/user/imnothardcore/collection
I don't mind exploring new music but this club doesn't seem to cater to individual styles, right? Its an everyone gets the same record if I understand correctly?
Another reason Im undecided is I did a random 5 record buy one time and it was all indie hot trash ( I just gave most of them away they were worth like $2-5ea on ebay ) so I wasn't into it. Does this club deliver more "valuable" music in any of your opinions?
Thanks in advance for any input.

All my records are pretty clean but before I play them there might be a few small dust particles or paper fragments or something. Curious how everyone here dusted their records off of just small stuff like that before playing. My local shop uses a microfiber cloth, was curious if that was the standard or one of those velvet brushes or a carbon fiber brush.

Um. 3D Printed tonearm is not something standard in either Rega or Pro-Ject. It was a huge deal a few years ago when VPI put one out.
Also the plinth is real thick. Again, not standard.
Also also the feet are better.
Im pretty new to this hobby, what is good about a 3d printed tone arm?, why does that matter?
Assuming the plinth is the base? guessing the thickness is good for rigidity and less shaking?
please enlighten haha @one and @ajxd

Came across this indiegogo (basically Kickstarter if you’re not familiar)
was as curious if anyone had any thoughts or opinions on this thing. I like the way it looks but I am no audio equipment expert.

The order and what's out there:
Year of the Black Rainbow novel. Still available through ebook sites.
Second Stage Turbine Blade and In Keeping Secrets Utlimate Editions... SSTB covers the 10 issues of the series, and the two Bag.Online. comics that we're intended to be the original series, but never published anything past the 2 issues. And the In Keeping Secrets has all 12 issues of that series, co written by Peter David.
And currently, Good Apollo, directly following In Keeping, has 11 issues published, and issues 12 comes out at the end of the month. Evil Ink Comics site has a link to get all the issues, but there are also 2 trades avaibale, vol 1 covers 1-4 and vol 2 covers 5-8. The last trade will follow, and likely another Ultimate edition that houses the whole series.
*Whew, that was a lot*
thanks man, super helpful, looking into these now since curious...

It was rushed, and ran over budget. They started retelling the Good Apollo story, and issue 12 hits this month and it's been pretty damn good.
where do I see the order of these things, is it just the amory wars or whatever?
is there a digital download thats decent?
the only have one on the website for like $15

How long does a vinyl release usually take after this passes?
I figured we would have seen something by now, been checking each day when bored at work.
Also, just found out they do graphic novels with the stories, anyone ever check any of these out? Are they any good?

Man, I need a RCM. Just don't want to actually shell out the cash.
Thats what made me check this one out, the ones with the vacuum seem pretty awesome and $200 isn't too bad. imo $500 is way steep for something so basic. Also, thanks for all the feedback guys think Im going to pull the trigger on this one, will check out my few local stores first to make sure they dont have it.

Haha, exactly this. As fun as I feel like this would be I doubt I would ever play it realistically.
