Book Burner is their weakest album IMO. Definitely check out their previous records!

Perfect for the majority of the copies out there. I hope it will still fit in a standard record frame!

Someone wanted to use Tom Whalen art to make jackets for the Disney picture discs. They were basically taking his work and selling it without his consent. The artist himself even said he wasn't OK with it but these dumbos still feel the need to bring it up in comparison to this.

Timing is also important with all of this...

Trying to objectively put myself in other people's shoes here....  If I was friends with someone, and I didn't think they were capable of such actions, and they told me the accusations were bullshit, I would believe them.  The fault comes through when the evidence is no longer refutable.

1 of them is by someone who is now a woman, does that count.

I actually prefer it the way it is. This thread is not that active that it needs it's own sub-forum.

Blowing my mind right now that The Number 12 Looks Like You can sell out 120 tapes of each of their old albums.

I like tapes and have a ton myself, but I just do not understand why anyone would want to buy a cassette reissue of a cd that came out 10 years ago. I would get it if the albums were expensive or hard to find, but that is certainly not the case here.

And I actually like the band, not knocking them at all.

This is kind of the problem, though and why the internet is ruining record collecting. Now everybody is interested in the business side, when that was only a fraction of the collecting world before. Pre-internet, one had to learn how to identify different pressings, labels, significant artists, etc. You had to get familiar with everything to be good at buying records to sell. Now, everyone is an "expert". And that's bad because you have millions of people selling "minty" copies of records on ebay that are far from mint. People only care about the monetary side so that it benefits them to make money, not learn how to properly grade, identify first pressings from original pressings, etc. There isn't a art popsike to look up values. The last thing record collectors need is another site that tells them the value.

The point everyone is repeatedly trying to make is that any information you seem to think is incomplete or missing from Discogs is able to be added using the intuitive and comprehensive tools built into Discogs. This, on top of the size of its userbase, makes an upstart website that essentially brings nothing new to the table a pointless endeavor.

I liked them when I was a young teenager. Were never one of my favorites though.

Their music does not hold up at all now.

When they blew up, I sold my original CD of Snuff the Punk for ~$100 on ebay. That was a wise decision.

I strongly suggest you get familiar with Discogs, if you're going to be successful you're going to need to offer something different and/or better than them.
    A couple of things:
Open versus set formatting - being able to set whatever formatting you want is a bad idea. No one will format in the same way and it will quickly become an unusable mess.
User registration - the reason you don't want non-members to edit is so that you can keep your editors in line. If some decides to be a dick and destructively edit entries you want to be able to warn/ban them. You can't do that if they aren't a registered user.

Anyone can join discogs. Any member can add information either officially or in the comment section. I usually just write a comment with information I have that is not shared in the official listing. I don't see how this will be better/different, but good luck.

Compiling every sort of information that someone could possibly be looking for about any single release into one place with no formatting seems like it will just end up being an unusable clusterfuck.
