Ooooh, tempting! I have this on CD from when they released it, and listened the hell out of it, so I think there might be a scratch in the data...

I adored the balance of chaotic hardcore and noise rock with the hooks they had on Only Love. I'd say as a whole, it's a decent experimental alt-rock/pop punk album, but I think Ultrapop was a little better than this. This definitely has moments, but if you're a fan of their older sound, this is a big step away from that.

First LP announced following the end of her work under the name, Lingua Ignota. More of an Americana sound on the single, progressing the style that had been presented with previous album, Sinner Get Ready, especially compared to the industrial drone metal sounds of her first releases. Single:

I always look forward to new stuff from them, but I agree, this lead single isn't it... 'Only Love' was kind of peak for me too, and Ultrapop grew on me over time.

Such a huge fan of their selftitled album, and kind of rediscovered them maybe 5 years ago via Voir Dire... They always had such incredibly distinct vocals and guitar tone. Could never understand how their feedback was so melodic...

Also Talk Talk Colour of Spring is a decent one to get stuck into when I need a break from current stuff.
Talk Talk, but Spirit of Eden.
But also for me recently, it's gonna be something by Don Caballero, Flying Saucer Attack, Future Sound of London, or one of Brian Eno's poppier albums... -
I recently got a notification from another label who said they had ordered their vinyl more than a year ago, and it's been pushed back a couple months still. In the label's words, vinyl plants are "dysfunctionally backed up" with orders these days.

A year or two ago, Aix Em Klemm (Adam Wiltzie + Bobby Donne, from Labradford) appeared in a local shop similarly, which I also HIGHLY recommend for anyone unfamiliar and into SOTL et al...

Another crazy good release. On paper this mix of styles wouldn't necessarily appeal to me, but one listen convinced me to pick it up. Just listen.

What an interesting album... I feel some Idles, Black Midi, and Black Country New Road, but to Alcest instrumentals..... Nice!

Just got mine as well. Haven't been this excited for a record in a while.
This album was recorded analog to the floor correct? Wish we could get a true analog cut, that would be amazing.
I recall the album notes stating that "no computers were used in the recording of the album," or something like that, which, maybe because i'd been working in a studio almost exclusively with tape at the time, i always felt was a stupid and needlessly pretentious piece of info to provide...

Any other bands you'd recommend? Not familiar with I, Voidhanger. I jammed a few other titles briefly but nothing came close to grabbing my attention like Bekor Qilish
'Eons' by Neptunian Maximalism was on my top ten for the year for 2020. I wasn't so stoked on the live nor the 1track drone albums they dropped since though...

New Rafael Anton Irisarri LP. Comes out to $36 PPD to the US. Juno has it for $32 if the clear isn't worth the extra $4.

Technically not new?? I got the edition of his last album, Solstagia, which was bundled with Agitas Al Sol on cassette, so I'm expecting it'll be an exploration/expansion of that cassette release.

Whoa. Haven't heard the name Bloodjinn, since they signed and released that on Goodfellow back in 2002...

I don't really hear the grindcore, but I gather they've been heading well into blackened death for a while. Sounds like Ulcerate/Black Curse/Infernal Coil type stuff more than grindcore, but I dig it!
Right. Those are better comparisons for their last two albums. Can't help be influenced by their bandcamp address and cuz I first heard them a few albums back as postmetalcoregrind, somewhere between Converge, Nails, and Pig Destroyer:

October 2022 vinyl release. I know there’s long waits right now but god damn. Going to hold off on this one.
I wasn't blown away by the single either.

Is it possible to close this thread and push any future convo to be about Lingua Ignota and her work?
Full support for survivors.

Reading this completely ruined my mood yesterday... Absolutely disappointed to hear this about him, but far more saddened hearing her experience.
