  2. Frontierer: Oxidized Top chaotic mathcore! One variant already appears to be sold out... https://frontierer.bandcamp.com/album/oxidized
  3. So, I'm a big fan of shoegaze too, but if I were told that Deafheaven had made a shoegaze album, I'd have thought slightly more along the lines of the band, Pyramids, who made swirly ambient music with murky blastbeats in the background. I would obviously expect clearer production than that with Deafheaven, but I don't understand why they didn't retain some of the metal aspects they were known for... If there were a few blastbeats and a few more shrieks now and again would've made some more memorable moments on these lead tracks. For example, Dillinger Escape Plan would make a rock song, but they'd incorporate some technical elements into it to maintain their sound. This is just a different band even if exaggerating the more mellow parts from their past.
  4. a few glitched out teasers. and they posted an image of the merch they'll be dropping. Here's a guess though:
  5. This super controversial one... https://www.discogs.com/Scaramanga-Silk-Choose-Your-Weapon/release/1674483
  6. There are tons of very limited albums selling for very low compared to others also when the quality of music they contain is, in my opinion, WAAAAYYYY higher. I've also seen albums selling for crazy prices on discogs, but then bought them for $10 at a local shop or vice versa. Similarly, I find it curious how expensive vinyl is in Japan. Does it cost more to produce an album there? Are they paying for more deluxe packaging? Likely not... It's all just very, very fickle...
  7. Uhhhh..... What happens if someone paid for the box/concert, but got a refund on the concert and didn't go to the show?? Is paypal sorting that out for me in post? Asking for a friend...
  8. hmm, new track is okay... i think i prefer the previous single. I guess knowing where they came from is having me less impressed. The circumstances kinda reminds me of Ceremony, although they kinda leaned postpunk before they went fully clean. If Deafheaven had included a couple tracks with more clean-vocal singing in them on the last album, this one would make more sense.
  9. Merzbox on vinyl... srsly though, it's probably Garbage by Autechre... Also of interest, that Eluvium boxset, vol. 1, and the Disintegration Loops boxset...
  10. Reissue of classic ambient masterwork, Endless Summer, by Fennesz. https://fenneszemego.bandcamp.com/album/endless-summer
  11. No typical fierce gnashing of teeth from her on this single... but her backstory adds a layer to the intensity she has no trouble conjuring.
  12. Pretty sure it will be tied to this lawsuit... https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/proposed-settlement-announced-in-class-actions-against-paypal-871919006.html
  13. Another act that displays pretty approximate sounds overall is Sadness: https://sadnessmusic.bandcamp.com/album/i-want-to-be-there-2
  14. Big Brave are killer. So skillful at using space and silence to make crushingly heavy, yet not actually super heavy music...
  15. whoaaaa. haven't thought of this band since i saw them in grafton, nd, i guess around the time this came out!
  16. Hmmm... this is curious. I don't hate it, but definitely not what attracted me to the band... mind you, they haven't really had that aspect since Sunbather --they kind of lost it for me with the overly clean tight production on New Bermuda and forward. I also saw them soon after New Bermuda was released, and thought they were just okay, until they played a couple Sunbather tracks in the encore, and those were so much better...
  17. Nice! Pretty strong ETID vibes on the track, 'Your terms'...
  18. I'm also sad I missed this... I think it's one of my favourites too. I saw them live maybe 15 years ago, and despite "I know you are but what am I" being one of their most calm songs, it had some of the heaviest bass I've ever experienced live... Agreed that 'hunted by a freak' is one of their best. It's one of the few songs I went out of my way to learn to play on guitar too!
  19. North American options available now. Ouija board edition: https://profoundlorerecords.merchtable.com/music/portal-hagbulbia-ouija-board-edition-vinyl-lp Black version: https://profoundlorerecords.merchtable.com/music/portal-hagbulbia-vinyl-lp
  20. Preorder for Alessandro Cortini's next LP, Scuro Chiaro available all over, exclusive at Bleep ltd to 400: https://bleep.com/format/684016-scuro-chiaro
  21. Nice. I think the visual aspect of the band live is underappreciated too. After I last saw them, I spoke with Karl Lemieux. He tore off a strip of film and gave it to me. I keep it with the album from that time, which was Asunder, Sweet...
