This fucking blows. I watched the labyrinth the night I was told by my ex that she wanted a divorce because it has always cheered me up. He was a beautiful man.

Edit: My point being that most people that say the films are unoriginal or repetitive don't account for how heavily Lucas depended on Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey and Ring Composition when writing the original 6.
 
I'm guessing that when JJ et al took over the universe "staying true to Star Wars" didn't mean just keeping the lightsabers, space battles, and pew pews - but actually following much of the same style of composing the story itself.
 
So when anyone says the movie was completely redundant, they are sometimes missing the point.
 
 
Anyway, maybe some people just didn't like the film, that's fine too. But, a lot of us aren't old enough to have seen Ep 4 when it first came out. So, comparing it now (when it is inextricably entwined with your knowledge of the other 5 movies) with this movie when this movie is an outlier still with no other points of reference, is jumping the gun a bit.
 
 
 
Also - keep in mind Lucas wrote Ep IV with a definitive ending, because they had no idea if they would have enough money to make the others. They went in to Episode VII with 3 followups fully funded. So, the mentality has ot be different when you're seeing a piece that was written to stand alone, and you're seeing a piece that is written to be part 1 of a 4 part story arc.

I finally finished up a pipe based shelving unit I've been working on over the last few months. Pretty happy with how it turned out. 
 
 
 
 

 

Well, I wasn't aware of that. Come to think of it, IV did have a certain finality to it. Either way, I don't think VII is an incomplete movie in a negative sense. It leaves cliffhangers and lots of questions but without them, the movie probably wouldn't be as effective. Maybe they should've revealed a few more things to make it a better stand-alone but as someone already said, it's the kind of film that gets away with it, so I don't really see it as much of a flaw that dampens my enjoyment of the movie.

So yeah you don't remember an Oscar award winning actor from his huge movies he did before Star Wars, but kids watching Star Wars now are going to see it and think it's bad because some guy from an HBO show they aren't old enough to watch is in it or because a guy who was in Heroes ten years ago plays a minor role?

Guess that's part of the reason I hated the prequel trilogy. As far as Guiness, yeah, he's well known, but I'd guess most people in my (our?) age group, Star Wars was their first exposure to him. He'll never just be his characters in Laerence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, et al, to me, but Obi-Wan. And even though those were important roles, I'm sure Obi-Wan how most people recognize him at this point.
(Plus with the beard he at least looks pretty different.)

He should know better than to fuck with his fans about Blackhole. Dickhead has been teasing that goddamn album for years.

While not my favorite (that will always be reserved for SOS), I think Get Hurt was their best work since 59 Sound. Some odd parts for sure, but by far the most impassioned they'd been since 2008, in my opinion.

he's probably still alive, ala how Micchone survived with the walkers by covering herself in blood.  To me it just doesnt make sense.  The walkers just stop eating once they've had their fill with the top body and leave the one below it alone?  makes less sense then a zombie apocalypse to begin with, lol.
