  1. Now I'm curious to see what you edited out. Didn't catch your initial post before the edit.
  2. Think about which side of capital your mindset is conditioned to protect and defend. Hint: its not the consumer. Even if you're caught up in the issue of likelihood based on a pragmatic view that insinuates the tendency of a large business to blow off a person who was delivered a poorly manufactured that was acknowledged as poor and re-manufactured from scratch just because its been 10 years. Think about whose side you're taking by default and reconsider the utility of defending the party that you definitely don't belong to in a categorical and economic sense. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you are not worldwide corporate record label.
  3. ...AAAAAAAANNNNND: "You've maybe heard the saying "Anticipation is an important part of life. The idea of waiting for something makes it more exciting." We'd like to ship Smashing Pumpkins/Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness, that you ordered this second; unfortunately it's currently sold out. If you can stand the anticipation a bit longer, we'll cancel this item order - BUT - we're happy to notify you when the product comes back in stock, and you can reorder it then. If you paid for this order with a credit card you have not been charged, we do not charge until your order ships. If you paid with Paypal you will be issued a refund within 72 hours. We are no longer going to offer backordered products for sale at acousticsounds.com. We hope this customer reminder system we're instituting avoids long order delays and mounting frustration by customers seeking popular hard-to-find titles or audio gear. Especially for our international customers, whose orders must be filled in total before that order ships. Again, we're sorry the item you ordered is sold out and not currently available. Rest assured, when it comes back in stock we'll notify you that it's available so that you can reorder. Thanks for being an acousticsounds.com customer and letting us serve you. Acoustic Sounds, Inc. Customer Service" Blow me down. Dear John'd on that one. If any of you who ordered after I posted the link get it then congratulations. Maybe I'll actually GET ON this whole contact the label strategy now.
  4. Pretty cool new cover. I'm glad I picked up the 2017 reissue with the normal original promotional art cover though. I usually like the original presentation of things like this. Even the Twin Peaks FWWM soundtrack from 1992 with the original promo poster cover art and the terrible stretched ratios on the film stills on the back cover suits me better than any of the later pressings with new artwork.
  5. If I remember correctly, they actually rushed a remaster job and didn't make any indication on it other than what would have been new etchings in the deadwax from the new cut. I'm pretty sure what we are calling the 2014 edition (thank you, discogs) is really just the rushed remaster due to all the complaints from the 2012 debacle. I think the 2012's were still populating shelves side by side with the fixed one but by the time there were copies available again after being gone in 2014 everything available was the fixed one.
  6. I don't know how either one of us could be totally certain of that. I'm pretty sure people on this very board in possibly this very thread around 8 to 10 years ago did report getting replacements.
  7. I hear what you're saying. My point is we should expect and demand better than what you're expecting from them. Demand big business do better and make a scene and a lot of times it forces them to do better and honor a purchase that has been unsatisfactorily met.
  8. Incorrect. That whole petition and campaign is WHY THERE IS a properly mastered version today.
  9. I don't know. I haven't tried but I should think that as long as they are producing corrected copies of the material, a person should be able to get such treatment as a replacement for a botched expensive item. Its not like the company is long defunct and the material is completely out of production. Its clearly back in production.
  10. Well, you can be a "realistic" chump or you can demand better (read: the bare minimum) in exchange for your money. The choice is yours.
  11. Indeed the issue was fixed but they should be replacing the discs and eating the ass of any customer who is still stuck with that atrocity of a mastering job.
  12. Zero is the worst of all of the issues on that but all of the sides from about midway on get pretty clippy and crunchy and its not okay especially for how expensive it WAS back in 2012 but even if it was free, its not cool to have that kind of garbage audio on a record. I still have mine as well. It brings me so much sorrow every time I tell myself its fine and just to listen to it. Then I do and I'm pissed off all over again. The other sides are not as bad, but they are NOT good. We should really be able to exchange our discs for free when you think about it. I wonder what contacting the label would do at this point. I think we should try that.
  13. Balls! But EVERYBODY READING THIS RIGHT NOW: Click the "Notify Me" button and get notified when its back in stock. That is the only reason I got my copy just now. Hopefully it comes back in greater numbers but if you don't want to miss out, get your email notification set up.
  14. I'm glad you could get it. My order status still says pending and I order about 30 minutes ago. I'm not familiar with how fast that status changes when it comes to in stock items.
  15. Get it while the gettin' is good: https://store.acousticsounds.com/d/86399/Smashing_Pumpkins-Mellon_Collie__The_Infinite_Sadness-Vinyl_Box_Sets 104.72 after tax and free shipping for me.
  16. That's true but the variation in pricing is extreme from title to title and label to label. It seems like with titles that they know have people clamoring, they're pricing extra high markup upon and with less notorious acts prices are still looking similar to pre-pandemic. I don't think most of the markups are due to increased overhead. Maybe in some cases but overall it just feels like more gouging where they think they can get away with it.
  17. Didn't pull the trigger and it sold out again. Waiting til it comes back to deepdiscount.com.
  18. Its back but goddamn it! $140 for this thing.
  19. The alteration in Maserati's sound feels much more dramatic to me than the ISIS evolution. Like, they still did essentially the same music but added more clean passages and some clean vocals and the production generally got a little cleaner as well but the overall mood and attack of the music wasn't drastically different than the first album or two. The first two EP's were definitely more consistently heavy but they were also shorter than a full album. There are similar moments on all ISIS albums to those EP's but with more variation mixed in. But when you compare Pyramid of The Moon to The Language of Cities, there's practically no thread between them stylistically. That's my opinion anyway.
  20. Let's be clear about the sound quality on Vol. 4 though. That record was recorded or mixed in a way that has a huge midrange hump across it and for that, it pretty much lacks any sharpness in the high end. The bass area isn't terrible but its not extremely strong. It sort of sounds washed out overall and I don't think there has been anything done to counteract that overall tonality until the late CD age and even then, it still pretty much sounds how it sounds. I'm the kind of listener who hates when midrange seems to be scooped out or cut heavily but Vol. 4 is a weird example of too much and too wide. Once you adjust to this its a great record overall but it takes some getting used to for me anyway. I have an Australian Vertigo pressing and had a US Warner Bros. pressing. I can't remember exactly which US WB press it was though. They pretty much sounded about the same in terms of being the same album. Can't really recall much difference between them. For what that album is in terms of mixing and EQ, both sounded great.
  21. Yeah, that's very well described there. I just can't with that second half of their catalog. Its just so blech for me. Language and Inventions definitely inform what was my best understanding of the Post Rock genre overall. I haven't listened to those in some time either but rest assured, if I'm spinning Maserati, it will be one of the first three records.
  22. I haven't listened to this in a long time but I have an original white/gray copy and always wanted to grab the original black. I remember thinking it reminded me a bit of Hum's YPAA. Will definitely grab the black one from TRR though. Glad this was cut from original tapes. I didn't realize this was a thing until I saw it on discogs with a release date of yesterday. Totally blew me away that this was in the works. My Maserati collection pretty much ends after Inventions For The New Season. Pyramid of The Sun just didn't do it for me and everything I've heard since that feels similarly undesirable. I have the Pyramid of The Moon 12" single but I don't even know why I got it.
