  1. Yes, but that means next no to nothing in terms of cost. You're already paying for the material in terms of the vinyl itself. The only reason the Appendage download plays a legitimate part in the cost is because its extraneous material the ownership of which must be compensated for.
  2. This price does suck but I can kind of see the rationale now. I've bought plenty of 2XLP's around the $24.99 range and if you factor in the Appendage download, that probably constitutes about $4.99 of the price and it all pretty much adds up. That said, $24.99 is on the higher end of most of the 2XLP's that I've bought retail. I'd much rather not have the Appendage download and pay less for the package overall. I'm not super fond of the idea of paying for material that's digital only. Now if there were a CD of Appendage packed in there, I could have easily justified getting this. The new Oceanic RE reissue has a package that looks far more costly than what what this LP's package is being described as and you could get it from $18.99 to $20.99. The vinyl weight itself is no 180 grams but it can't be much more than 40 to 60 grams less than 180. I wonder how much more value those grams add to the cost.
  3. Yeah, that's it. I'm pretty sure its the same concept as the brine. A solid translucent color with clear swirled in the center.
  4. I got a Panopticon over the Summer from RE. It was the last copy of a Deep Sea Blue variant. Looks sweet. Don't have any pictures though.
  5. I've received packages from Sweden and Italy in the past and I can't say that I've ever noticed the quality of the mailers to be any better or worse than ones I've gotten in the States. That doesn't mean that they weren't shittier but I simply never noticed.
  6. Where did you find that? I just scored the last copy from Blue Collar Distro a few months ago. Are your labels reversed? Because mine are.
  7. Brand new. Somewhat decent price. http://www.soundstagedirect.com/circa-survive-blue-sky-noise-vinyl-lp.shtml Seriously, the first press used to be everywhere and over night I can barely find a copy at any of the usual places. I was actually surprised at how good the first press sounds considering they jammed like 50 minutes onto one disc. I just didn't like the material nearly as much I had hoped to.
  8. ^Yeah, I'm hoping a couple of spins will clear the grooves up a bit.
  9. All Subtle and Themselves records are pressed this way. Most of the albums could easily fit on one disc in a traditional 5 to 6 track per side configuration but there is tons of dead wax on each side of the 2 discs in most cases. The albums are all excellent sounding however. Noticeably better than most single discs that fit the standard time capacity for a single LP.
  10. ^ Very cool. Thanks for the info. Keep your head up.
  11. So does this mean you'll find a way to take present/future orders for this record or what? Inquiring minds want to know.
  12. I haven't played my black yet. I wonder if it will be much different.
  13. Ok. Good. I didn't think it was a very kosher thing to do. I've never tried it nor do I know anyone who has.
  14. I've seen a youtube video of a guy cleaning records like they're dishes. He then dryed them with a hair dryer and it was amazing to see them bend to the heat then retract to normal shape as soon as he took away the dryer. You really like the dish soap method?
  15. Yes, I also clean all my records before playing them. I use the pfan stat solution and a standard felt lined brush. I'm hoping this grit will go away over time. I never noticed this on any of the other Pirates Press records I have. In fact, I always noticed how clear they sounded. Honestly, the "Hym" cut is pretty ridiculous. Even if it turns out that the band wanted it that way, I still can't stand by that decision. This is what I use: And this solution: http://www.amazon.com/Pfanstiehl-SA-14-Pfan-Stat-Record-Cleaning/dp/B001MM797M
  16. Hopefully no one else has that issue. It could very well just be a particular batch of the press that has that or maybe the needle just needs to be dragged through a few times to dislodge the microscopic excess wax from the grooves but I definitely hear more crackle than I like for brand new records. The Brine definitely had the least of the problem. Though the actual mastering and tone of the overall sound is quite good.
  17. ^I don't think anyone here has gotten a shipping notification and I definitely have not but mine came yesterday. I'll talk about the sound. Two of my four copies (Gyre and Seaweed) are disturbingly crackley. My Brine copy sounded the best so far. Still had a bit too much crackle and on all of those copies, and I'm assuming on the entire press, they chopped off the last 20 seconds of "Hym." I couldn't believe it.
  18. I feel the exact same way. Not sure how I'd narrow it down to one at this point.
  19. I was actually going to post that but I never got around to it. Shittyness.
  20. RE is still honouring the orders however they are out the cost of the order. they were just trying to get our help. That is fucking terrible! I hope whoever hacked them chokes on a chicken bone to death.....and then promptly returns the stolen funds from beyond the grave. And then gets punched in the nuts by a banshee....then gang raped by a hundred leprechauns.
