  1. Hey everyone, You'll forgive me for not posting too much around these parts, but I'm a longtime lurker. I have some issues that need clearing up because I am limited in both the cash department AND the dynamics/layout of my room (as I still live with the parents, lest I become a slave to the unnecessary costs of living at a university I can just as easily commute to with much less expenses). I asked for money this past Christmas to spend on a pair of quarter-range speakers to hook up to my laptop, and to also buy a USB turntable just to get a decent sound. Unfortunately, I have to sacrifice being picky. To my surprise, however, my family pitched in for an Ion Profile Pro, which I hadn't been too keen on getting, but to appease them I gave it a shot and it actually worked rather nicely when hooked into my laptop. A few days ago though, I noticed particularly with my one of my Torche records that there was an insane amount of warble. It sounded as if the guitarists had suddenly started hammering down the tremolo bar, for the music was drastically changing pitch, speeding up and slowing down at certain rotations. There's not really any way to adjust the height, pitch, heaviness, ANYTHING on the turntable (which is why I was initially hesitant in the first place), and I measured the level of the table, tried other records, all getting to the same problem. Now, I know it's something with the turntable. I tried my records on the vintage dual and Sony preamp setup my Dad uses in the basement, and then again on my friend's new Rega P1, and the sound was completely clean. I think there is something wrong with the motor in my Ion, but I'd rather just return it to the big box store they bought it from, take the money, and invest it into something new. Here's the problem though: I would love to use the wide assortment of equipment my Dad's amassed over years and years of dedicated audiophilia, but ultimately I need space to work and study, and I can't fit the player, amp, receiver, and huge speakers he was going to give to me. What I do have is a nice 2.1 Logitech speaker system, and while it isn't perfect it's a rather nice setup. So, essentially what I need is a decent player with a built in preamp for up to $350. I'm not sure if it needs to be USB, but it definitely needs to have RCA out... Are all new players built with RCA outputs, or is this only in select models? I was thinking that if I got a turntable with RCA out, I could get cable to convert them to 1.8" cable (like this: http://www.ioffer.com/i/6ft-1-8-mini-stereo-to-dual-rca-female-y-adapter-cable-137617457) to play directly through the soundcard and through my new speaker system. I need help. The Pro-Ject Debut III looks like something I really want, but if I pay $400 for it, I'm also going to have to invest in a preamp, and the works. The Audio Technica looks like the best alternative so far, but I'm not sure what stores in the Toronto area carry them.
  2. Same over here. I've gone a good while without buying anything because of school, but this is just too good to pass up. I'll never forgive myself for missing out on the silkscreened OGs of You Fail Me, so this is perfect. I can't wait to listen to these. Definitely ordering both.
  3. Unless I manage to get a second job for the school year, there's no way I can afford anything that isn't related to university at the moment. But yeah, I'm going to order it
  4. Isn't this still available on Robotic Empire? I got my silkscreened copy for a decent price at a local store last year.
  5. Agreed. Airplane! as a film is better than the Naked Gun films, but the show was great.
  6. Jake and Tre on top of customer service as usual! Thanks a lot for your help guys.
  7. I am not sure what GLS is, but let me just explain our deal here with Post Club. The main issue that we have come into is that be regular USPS is completely untraceable, and we have constant, I repeat, CONSTANT issues with customer orders being held up in foreign customs. The orders come into customs, and basically sit there for some period of time, and come back to us. Though we had an automated system for sending off emails with the customs # on them, this is actually useless in most cases because if the USPS decides to not scan the package when it comes in, the # is not entered into the system. And this is what happens in pretty much all cases. There really isn't anything we can do to get the USPS to do this. They just don't. (This takes place at the depot, not at a local post office. We can't drop mail off at the local post office, we have to bring them to the hub / depot) Since the customs # is not ever scanned by the USPS at drop off, the # that the customer would get give them NO information. Meaning that they would not know that their package is being held at customs. So unless they get a notification from customs (which apparently often times doesn't happen), the package sits there for some period of time, I feel like it's about 60 days, and gets sent back to us. Often times, we have to pay for the return postage also. We have had a small amount of complaints about Post Club. I am not sure what country you live in, but overall, we get far far far fewer complaints now that we are using them, as opposed to shipping thru the USPS. Regardless of what service we use, there WILL be issues from time to time, no matter what we do, no matter who we use, no matter anything. The difference for us is that with Post Club, when there is an issue, we are actually able to do something about it, and have a resolution. This is not at all possible with the USPS, we basically have to just sit and wait. Thanks a lot for clarifying, Tre. I have another question concerning my Deathwish order: My clothing order is currently in transit to my cozy Canuck home, but I haven't received confirmation on my Jane Doe LP/T-shirt bundle yet. I don't mind waiting it out if it hasn't been sent yet, but would it be a longshot to assume that my pre-order will have shipped with my clothing order? If this is why I never received confirmation of shipping on JD, that would be far beyond awesome. But like I said, if I have to wait, I'll still be a happy camper. Thanks! Also, I just placed an order through the EV webstore to get this on green wax (I couldn't evade the temptation to have a limited press any longer). Can anyone tell me why the hell this would be going for $100 on ebay already?! Acted as further incitement to get it legitimately without regretting paying ridiculous amounts to flippers in the future.
  8. This thread has been in my interest. I've always considered ordering from Amazon, but I just don't know. I'm still relatively young in the realm of record collecting (I've only been ordering from distros/overseas for just over a year or so). Any Canadians who have ordered from amazon.ca, could you relate your experiences? Sounds like beardinc got his fine, so I'm a little less skeptical if I see something alluring in the future.
  9. I've been lurking here for just over a year, found out about this site through some preorder or other. Can't quite remember.
  10. I also received an email from postclubusa. I received a confirmation for a clothing order I placed a short time ago, but I had a feeling this might be for the JD preorder. Shot an email to the DW team, trying to figure out what it's about. I've ordered numerous times from Deathwish, never gotten anything like this. And hi all, first post from a long-time lurker.
