Asking for an update about an order you placed is not the same as flipping your shit and acting like an entitled fuck.
“Hey, any update on this order? I think we’re getting close to the original ship date and I wanted to see if I should be expecting a package from you guys soon.” -

Yeah, was all over that Into The Moat when it dropped. Missed the grimace but am VERY happy with the gold splat. I missed the Psyopus when that released but won't miss that Ideas when it drops. Yes looks like a promising year from SPR 🤨👍
I have the Puzzling Encounters release if you want it. I've been selling off most of my shit the past few months. LMK.

I started making this list and was keeping it as a document on my computer. I knew a thread like this would exist.
My list is mostly 04-07 trash, lol
Scarlet - Cult Classic
Calico System - The Duplicated Memory
Vaux - There Must Be Some Way To Stop Them
A Static Lullaby - …And Don’t Forget To Breathe
Nora - Dreamers and Deadmen
The Silence - Audio Alchemy
Ahleuchatistas - On the Culture Industry & What You Will
Psyopus - Ideas of Reference (
anything else)Glass Casket - We Are Gathered Here Today…Premonitions of War - Left in Kowloon
The Bad Plus - Give
Architects - Nightmares
Maybe Into the Moat's The Design was already pressed by the time I made that original list, but that was on there too. I imagine we might eventually see Ideas of Reference from Psyopus with Silent Pendulum Records, but I don't have any news there. I'm still holding my breathe for some of these, but if what is happening below is any indication of how 2024 will shape up, I might be a happy camper.
I left off Flesh and Blood Robot's The Sounds That Revolvers Make somehow. I opened IG today and saw that WV is putting this together. Pre-orders on Jan 8. I didn't buy much in 2023, but I'ma be lined the fuck up for this.

Appreciate your interest. I didn't see anything in my inbox from you, so I sent you a message @bluethumb

Updated the title to reflect what I'm selling, which includes a bunch of records 25 bucks and under.
-
Added about 20 more records last night. More Dillinger, more Converge, Black Dahlia Murder, Dissolve, Despised Icon. I've also listed this stuff on discogs, if you'd prefer checking out the listings that way, as opposed to a spreadsheet - phillyb's discogs store - happy to make deals, accept offers. Need this stuff gone.
-
Sold about 20 records since posting this - added some more titles to the spreadsheet. There are lots of 15-20 dollar records, some even under 10 bucks. Let me know if guys would like to buy anything, thanks!

All prices are shipped to anywhere in the lower 48 states. Contact me for international shipping please. Records will be shipped from Chicago - local meet ups are fine by me to avoid shipping; I'm in zip 60615.
Almost everything will come in an anti-static sleeve and a dual-pocket protective sleeve from Vinyl Storage Solutions; the record goes into a separate compartment from the jacket, so you don't have to handle the jacket if you just want to listen to the music. It's a really dope system that makes it super easy to take care of your records. Some records are sealed - if you'd like me to unseal and give em the VSS treatment, I will.
Please take a look at the spreadsheet and the comments column, where each variant is listed, along with any sub-witty quip I might have thought of at the time of putting together the spreadsheet.

I’d love a repress of 11:11 available in the US.

These prices lol. $39 for a single LP.
What gets my goat is that it's a 28 dollar record. Yes, I live in chicago so tax 10%+ tax is ludicrous, but 8.50 for shipping is steep for a single LP (yeah yeah, packing tape, time, boxes, I get it).

Some of the comments on my FB post were of that sentiment as well (no reply/confirmation about address change) so I guess my expectations are set now and while I find it a little surprising that no reply is the norm, I can't change how others do or don't communicate.
-
@Derek™ You also mentioned something kind of interesting earlier too, not necessarily at play in OP's scenario, but relevant when comparing first presses to represses. Sometimes represses come with additional material, like new artwork, demos, re-recorded tracks, etc. So the "first press" aspect of owning an old record becomes even more nuanced.

Shitty customer service is becoming more and more the norm these days. From small business to larger. And it's always once excuse after another.
All of this bullshit could have been prevented & avoided if they had acknowledged the very first address change email and replied directly to confirm that it had been updated.
I wasn't even that annoyed by not getting a reply; that's happened to me before.
I was annoyed that I got conflicting information from the company. A snarky email can always be handled easily if you have any kind of semblance for customer service. I digress cause frankly the refund is better for me now anyway. The Goods & Services "refund" was fuckin ridiculous though lol.

The “how dare you talk to a small business like that” is more annoying than your snark IMO.
And my snark was only there because I got conflicting information.
26 minutes ago, hallowken78 said:I've got no sympathy for any business that can't take 30 seconds to send a reply email to confirm they updated your shipping address as requested. Especially when they have enough time to post on social media all the time. I've personally had good experiences with them, but they provided poor customer service imo. So I echo porkdad's sentiments.
Right, circumstance avoidable on many accounts, some my own, of course. I'll echo what I just wrote. I wasn’t rude until I got conflicting information from them.
In the 10/17 email where he wrote, "We can just cancel and refund you since you think it’s ok to send an email like that," he also sent a picture:
So he didn't send it, nor did he refund like he said he would. He just held it hostage until I replied, then doubled down on his position, called me an asshole, and lectured me about how to treat small businesses.

Oh, I just got into reading...like books. I don't even know the language to ask the questions I have lol.
wtf is 1st/1st?
what is cloth bound?
where can i get a copy of rage without paying 800 bucks?
-
What's bolded below is at the crux of OP's post. If you pay a premium (or conversely, if you potentially got a great deal) for a First Press, you'd like to be able to verify that. To add some hyperbole, especially when we're talking about a 40 year old album from one of metal's most popular acts.
1 hour ago, lexicondevil said:I would absolutely care if I paid a premium for a record.
OP, your question was not quite as stupid as the usual ones we get from people, some who are looking for us to write their term paper for them, etc... I didn't even know that you could search using a matrix number. Good to know. Good luck in your search.
Regarding the underlined: I've only been here for a couple of years (I'm part of the problem and got into the hobby recently, sorry) and I've seen everything from literally term paper requests to developers asking to test their apps. This place must be high-ranking on google to get so much new traffic for a fuckin invision forum.

If a record is released internationally, often it will be created at multiple pressing plants (factories). Each pressing plant can have its own unique code, which is why you might see different matrixes on different records, depending on where they were made. For example, a record pressed in Canada can have a different code than one in the states, but because they were released at the same time, its still considered a first press. Honestly, don't worry about it too much. I cannot think of any record collector really getting hung up on matrix numbers.
Regarding the bold, I feel like a Metallica album from 1983 is going to have a larger population of those that would care vs. something like Turnstile's Glow On, but I'm weeding into hypotheticals here.
-
Understood. I don't know anything about those numbers either and can't really help you in deciphering what you have, sorry.
FS: 160 records - Hardcore, metalcore, death metal, mathrock, punk, etc. Lots of $15-$25 records.

Ha, no worries. I’ve been updating the sheet as I go. I think there are about 170 records on there for sale. LMK!
