  1. This RAR pressing/variant thing has gone on so long that it must have become a bit of a "lets see how long we can go" thing, too. If you've already gone as far as this many pressings, why would you stop there? Screw it. Go as long as you can. Lets see if we can get 100 out of this baby.

  3. Back on to the topic of this album's pressing issues: I got my pink a few days ago and holy crap, I've never received a worse sounding record. There's scratching noise that often rivals even the heaviest parts of music and it is always slowly falling in and out of tune as if the record were horribly warped (though physically it looks fine). I emailed KRM and they're sending me a replacement. For anyone that has a habit of receiving their records and putting them right on to the shelf for months: be sure to test this one out while its still fresh.
  4. Speaking of error pressings and customer service (I'm derailing this a bit but didn't want to start a whole new thread yet...), I have a cobraside pressing of Crimson that just sounds horrible on the A-Side. Its not physically warped in any way, but the sound on the A-Side only sounds horrible warped, it warbles, it changes tempo, just terrible. I got this a long time ago and can't talk to the retailer about replacement/return, and I've heard of success talking directly to companies involved in pressings before. Does this sound like something I should email Vagrant or Cobraside about? Just shooting for any advice.
  5. It's been mentioned that the charity version was an earlier mix/master, and that the final version may differ. I wouldn't really expect it to be much more than maybe some different levels and volumes.
  6. did you have to pay anything or send the original pink back?
  7. I will never understand the process behind deciding what songs make and get cut from an Alkaline Trio album. Well, if they ever do a Remains Volume 2, it'll likely end up being the closest thing we ever get to a Dan-centric Alk3 album.
  8. Free indie downloads have got me to buy more indie records than any YouTube channel, single, music video or "For Fans Of..." thread ever has.
  9. Holy shit. I just listened to Great Lake Derelict four times in a row. Love it. Holy shit.
  10. "This is the pink version. Description. This is the black version" Edit: $15 shipped means this is one Sundowner song I'm going to have to miss out on.
  11. Well, shipping to Canada prices went up on Graveface recently. I'm assuming because of the USPS hike. I like most of Graveface's releases but talked myself out of the subscription before because of the up front cost. But I recently went on the site, put all the records I wanted into a cart, and realized I'd be paying the same it would cost just to get the subscription.
  12. He has been for awhile, though he only really pops his head out when Old Canes Kickstarter hate hits critical mass.In other news, just bought into the Graveface Record Club pretty much just for this and Whirr. And also because the shipped-to-Canada price at Graveface recently got so damn high that ordering something like 5 records right now pretty much equals the cost of the Record Club. So why not get 10, instead?
  13. This. I can practically roll my Darkness LP into a tube and drink chocolate milk through it, yet it sounds phenomenally better than almost all of my more recent, 180g+ records.
  14. There was supposed to be a DVD of those Low Level Owl shows a year or two back. It was said to be some sort of anniversary or reflection thing, with interviews and videos of the guys making that album plus footage from the tour they recently did where they played both volumes in their entirety. Again though, this just kinda disappeared over time. You can find a trailer or two out there.
  15. I'm loving the Appleseed Cast love in here, especially the Two Conversations praise. Most of the time I seem to read about this album being regarded as their worst by fans. It may not be as "out there" as LLO, but everything they had done up until this point - the loops, the keys, the textures, the atmosphere, the environment - is all here, but just layered within very digestible tracks. It is an artform itself to be able to take all those pieces and turn it into an immediate and succinct album. I've been trying to push for a Peregrine double LP repress for awhile now. While I own a copy of the previous press, it just does not do the album justice. I asked Graveface about a repress sometime in 2011, and he told me one was likely coming late 2011-early 2012. Obviously that didn't come to fruition. I mentioned it again sometime last year on Graveface's facebook, and I think the response was that while its been discussed, there are no immediate plans in the pipeline. A wickedly colored double LP of Peregrine sitting next to all my other Graveface-released Appleseed Cast albums (the Mare Vitalis double LP looks incredible as well) would truly make AC the pride of my collection.
