There's always a few groups playing at the lunch tables at work, hoarding the space for hours. Given that we have probably 400 people on our floor and 4 lunch tables, not cool

New England ppl: one of my friends is going to Boston and wants to bring back a few beers for me.
Anything that is available in Boston and wouldn't be available on Minnesota that I must try?
I do not like IPAs/hops, and stouts are not my favorite unless they are sweet milk type stouts. I'm open to most other styles, especially Belgian style beers or wheat beers
Let me know what's awesome!

You hear or read "amuse-bouche" often enough to hate it?
food network
-
Usually I just get annoyed at the French words used in the English language.
Amuse-bouche
Creme de menthe
Cul de sac
Rendezvous
There's more... The worst is "c'est la vie," or when people think that they're being badasses by telling someone "fermer (or fermez) la bouche." Either way, it doesn't fucking make sense! You're either telling someone, "to close the mouth," or "close the mouth" in a very polite way. It does not mean shut up!

also, php is object-oriented... or can be used in an object oriented manner..

There are a lot of very useful frameworks to map your domain model to your data model when using Java. When you have a large application, it definitely helps with robustness.
That said, I have nothing against PHP. I've used it many times, it's just that my current company is a Java shop

yeah cause java websites are pos who the hell would want that
Thanks for this very insightful comment.

I went to the MN Beer Dabbler Winter Carnival yesterday. OMFG IT WAS COLD!!!
Fun times, except lots of brewers had frozen lines and you couldn't sample. In addition, you had to drink your samples real fast or they would freeze in your glass, leaving you with beer slushies. Also, ice cold isn't the optimal temperature for a lot of beer, so the tastes weren't always necessarily what it should be.
Best of the night, IMHO:
- Dangerous Man's Hazelnut Porter (omfg that was gooooood!)
- Tallgrass's Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat
- Oldvalde's The Auroch's Horn Aged On Rhubarb, mulled and served hot
I think that I'll stick to warmer weather / indoors beer events from now on, but it was definitely an experience! It was super crowded too... long lines at each booth

Someone used RATFE... thanks for sharing, though!

Yeah my wife is the same, I have to remind her to check in her beers
I like using it. It's a good way to chronicle what I've tried. One of these days I'll shell out the money to become a supporter to get personalized reports.

Went to The Convict's Pint at The Four Firkins last night... it's an amazing beer store in St. Louis Park, MN. Every Friday and Saturday evening they have beer tastings.
Last night was:
- Tusker Finest Quality Lager (Kenya Breweries)- Schell's Bock (August Schell Brewing)- Black Ale (Bent Paddle Brewing)- The Auroch's Horn (Olvalde Farm and Brewing)- Brimstone Tripel (Boom Island Brewing)- Ode to a Russian Shipwright (Olvalde Farm and Brewing)
All very good, especially the last three. I'd had Auroch's Horn before, and it was the best of the night with Brimstone and Russian Shipwright close seconds. The black ale had a bit too much coffee to it (I'm not a coffee drinker). Schell's Bock was very good, just not amazing, and Tusker's Lager had surprising depth for such a light beer.

Also purchased a bottle of DeuS, which we'll have on New Year's Eve

My wife and I bought ourselves a new tv. My parents and my sister drove from Montréal to Minneapolis to spend 5 days with us for graduation last week so that's a pretty amazing present, considering that they were just here in September for my wedding.
There's a gift exchange with my wife's family later. We picked names a few weeks ago... I'm kinda scared.
