Drain posted a bit of a teaser of their new album on IG last week - it looked like they got advance vinyl copies from Epitaph. This is one of my most anticipated for this year. Does Epitaph tend to release new stuff at any predictable time/ day of the week?

I checked out the album after the initial post (thanks for that!) and I'm also really into it. I'm hearing more Rites of Spring than Portraits of Past, but regardless, the general direction they are taking with their sound is right up my alley. The production also sounds more like a 90s release than many contemporary screamo records, which works for me. All of their previous releases are still available via their Bandcamp and the respective labels as well, all small batch and inexpensive.

I just got a package with four records from Cruz del Sur in Italy. It arrived in about a week, via DHL, at a reasonable cost. They used a Whiplash-like rectangular mailer. Every single record came in a poly-lined inner and was carefully removed from the cover while leaving the shrink intact. I didn't ask for it, they just did it. All of the records arrived in mint shape and look beautiful. Can't wait to spin them later. Total support to the maniacs at Cruz del Sur! \m/

Harkonen would have been cool. Blood Brothers would have been amazing of course. But there was never any indication that this could happen. Generally it makes sense for them to pick strong local openers that won't outshine the headliner, as unlikely as that is in this case. I'd love to see Denial of Life, I think their new LP is going to kick a lot of ass, and I'm looking forward to seeing Filth is Eternal after missing out on seeing the previous incarnation of the band a few times. Still gotta check out the others.

EDIT: Looking at the songs it's really more a compilation of songs from all of their previous releases plus a few new ones than a new full length. I'll take it though.

I'm a fan of everything Chris Leo has done, so I ordered this as soon as I saw it. Not sure yet how I feel about the vocals (i.e. the actual singing) in the preview song, but hopefully in the context of the whole album it'll make sense.

Got to see MS Paint a few times last year and they're really onto something. Instant order for me, can't wait to hear what they cooked up.
