  1. Nice! Yeah, lately international orders have been arriving pretty quickly! Cost is still pretty high, but at least service times are improving. And probably as a result of the cost increases. 180 Gram 12" costs me about $18, even with the Click-N-Ship discount. Actually, I'm really thankful that they've added First Class International at all, it used to be all Priority and Express through Click-N-Ship. Were you shipping regular weight 12" or a 7"?
  2. Do you remember Greene Records? First it was in Tustin, then Santa Ana. I think they closed for good about 5 years ago, but I remember my step-brothers really dug that place.
  3. When I left around 2004, they had 3 buildings. The main store was for all-new items, there was a used store (Where I worked. Always got first pick of records before they went out, plus a 40% employee discount), and then there was an smaller area north of the used store just for DVD's and videos. The main building is now a veterinary office, and everything was moved over to the used store. I wish I was down more often to support them. I stop by whenever I can to pick up something and catch up with Lou and the very few co-workers who are still there. It's definitely a good dig spot, but it always bums me out going back to remember how large it used to be. As long as they're surviving, I'm stoked. I follow them on facebook, and they've always got some killer giveaways. Hopefully business is picking back up.
  4. I used to work at Lou's Records in Encinitas. They used to have a larger selection, but they've had to downsize a whole lot. But there's some decently priced stuff if you dig for it. More new than used, but some offbeat used stuff. Also really really cheap cds and dvds. They've also got some laser discs, haha.
  5. http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/i_remember_a_feeling_of_dread_after_making_itcursives_tim_kasher_on_the_ugl Scott did a great job on this interview, got me stoked to see them in Feb.
  6. I don't think I've actually heard his a lot of his stand up, besides his intros during the Meltdown showcases. But I dig his taste in music and comedy, loving what he's put out so far.
  7. I just ended up getting the $8.99 download. That's a totally insignificant amount relative to the amazing music I'm getting in return. But I'm sure they understand. That's like a burrito at Chipotle with guac.
  8. Same, I had a promo from when I was working at a record store. Also started seeing some of their youtube Really Real Show, they cracked me the hell up at the time. Don't know if those hold up anymore, but I recall enjoying it. Everything about them just seemed like weird contrasts all over the place, they're an interesting oddity. Loved the name Soul Glow Activatur. Wonderful reference. And I also loved them smashing up Craig Ferguson's late night set with him instigating it.
  9. Love Taken. Saw their last handful of shows in 2004. I've also been enjoying Ray's podcast: 100 Words or Less. I wonder if they're working on new material, would love to hear new stuff from them.
  10. Oh man, same here. Just gotta keep on keeping on. Making stuff is the only way to get better.
  11. Ooh I've wanted some of these ever since I saw Groove, haha. They're expensive, but I need to invest in one soon.
  12. Wow, that's rad to hear. I think I've worn down my original a lot, the remaster will be a great addition.
  13. Thanks, I'll give that a shot! I also lowered them to $40 for the pair.
  14. Selling them is a last ditch option, really. I primarily wanted find out if someone had tickets for the previous night they could trade. Definitely more interested in that.
  15. Dang, sorry I didn't see this earlier. Unfortunately, no. It's just so close to the show at the moment. If you can find a friend to go with, make it work. If you know any photographer friends, try and sell them on this: The Roxy is one of the best small venues to take pictures at a show. They've got the best lighting whenever I shot there, and if you can get up front, you can get some amazing shots. And you've probably been there, the stage is like waist high.
