  1. This. Listening to his last interview with Matt Pryor was all kinds of weird. It's kind of hard for me to listen to this band now.
  2. I like it better than Ray Parker Jr's version, honestly. Run did a great job with it, but the video is weird. It doesn't even feature the same version from the film. A similar thing happened with the Bus Boys video from the first film. I stand by that whole soundtrack, though. I just like finding my records at the record store if it ain't a pre-order, or something that doesn't have a lot of distribution.
  3. I just never found it organically, never felt like looking for it until now.
  4. I speak only for myself, man. If someone wants to grab this, go for it. It's a really nice collectible. For a package design that has this much thought and consideration, I'd want the musical content to match that level. Those are two fantastic songs, but it excludes some great music. I think they missed a good opportunity to provide the ultimate package, with both soundtracks. Hell, the score is great too. They got the physical package part right. I'd just personally want more from such a great franchise, because there's a lot there.
  5. That might help justify the price. Maybe... definitely not enough for me. I'm a huge fan, I'd love to have this. But it's a one-sided 12" single. I've never found the Run DMC track, so that's kind of cool. But why not just do the soundtracks for both films in one package? Both featured some great songs. Really great packaging, but definitely needs more music.
  6. I think so. One showcases poor packaging on the part of the shipper, and the other focuses on the poor treatment of packages by USPS.
  7. I'd love to get Waiting. The only Thursday LP I had for a while was my copy of War All The Time. Sold it to raise money for the label. The only thing I've got now is Five Stories Falling, need to up my game again...maybe when I have a steadier job.
  8. I got 2 tickets for the Mineral show at the Roxy on Saturday, 10/25 in Los Angeles. I've got a wedding to attend on this date, but didn't find out about it until after I'd bought the tickets. Selling $40 for the pair, just a bit under the cost of the face value with fees. If someone has tickets to the Friday on 10/24 show, I'd be happy to trade! PM me if interested
  9. Nice, looking forward to picking this up. I used to have just the 12" single, but didn't pick up the 3LP. Though I'm still considering it... it's harder and harder to justify these purchases as a freelancer, haha.
  10. Hooray for the stream! I remember reviewing Assembly forever ago for my local city punk webzine (wow, that was weird to say...) And it's pretty much been forever since their last album, so glad to have them back. They always do such solid work, I've got to catch them live sometime whenever they hit the west coast.
  11. Lovely song, and I've been listening to Ordinary almost daily since it came out. Very excited for this to come out soon.
  12. Really wish it wasn't through MerchNow, but I dug the single a lot. Loving all the design going on though.
  13. Wow, that's radder than what I found: a signed Don Ho album. I used to find some decent classic rock stuff, but not recently. My copy of Fragile by Yes is probably the nicest thing I've come across at Goodwill. Jacket looks great, and plays amazing.
  14. I hadn't run a label before this, but I had done mailorder for a comics publishing and custom button business with my wife. And a ton of ebay stuff when I'd downsize for a move. Sometimes I'd order from people, the product would show up weeks later than it should have, and in a few cases, not at all. I'd always have those frustrations when ordering stuff online too, so I always do my best to be timely with shipments and emails. I typically ship out next day, I make the Post Office part of my morning routine. If I don't, I usually give people a heads up about why there's a delay. The only time it's tough to catch up is when a release first comes out, and there's like a 100+ shipments all at once. Friends help out if they can, but it's still a lot to get through.
  15. Thanks! That's very kind of you to say, but I'm not sure a letter writing campaign would help our chances. They know people want the pressing, and they know about Overdue. The most helpful thing for us at the moment would be to keep letting people know about the quality of releases we have. I've encountered a lot of people, at least outside of Vinyl Collective and AbsolutePunk, who hadn't realize those albums had been pressed. People who were Gatsbys fans, but who aren't necessarily following sites that'd cover news about them. So if there's Gatsbys fans you know, make them aware. And in the meantime, we'd do our best to plan on for the future.
  16. I think it'll get pressed eventually. But the details about who and when are unclear. Definite answers are much more comforting.
  17. Yeah, that would be rad. Fearless doesn't seem interested in licensing it out or pressing it at the moment. But Bobby mentioned he'd like to see us do it, haha.
  18. Just a heads up, we've got about 50 copies left of the OBI Strip variant, limited to 200. Don't sleep on it too long! A lot of people have been picking up the Glow in the Dark variant, so I'm thinking that's why OBI variant hasn't sold out sooner.
  19. Well, if I want to approve them, I've got to. Wocka wocka wocka. But seriously, if I have a production pressing, that's usually what I listen to. And there's nothing wrong with listening to a rejected test, it's not always a physical defect. Champion's Promises Kept had a mix the band didn't like.
  20. With the tour coming up, this is the perfect time to do it. Really looking forward to this coming out.
  21. This was about 5 years ago. I remember reading about this, it was a pretty crazy debacle. Razorcake had a 2-part feature in their issues #53 (with RVIVR on the cover) and #54. Wish those articles were online, because they're super in-depth. But here's some rando coverage: LA Weekly, PunkNews, Lambgoat. Dirk from Doghouse ran Lumberjack Mordam, a distributor that closed it's doors in 2009. He started Lumberjack Distribution, which bought out Mordam Records in 2005. Before the merger, Mordam distributed Jade Tree, Alternative Tentacles, Sympathy for The Record Industry (White Stripes being their big seller), Bomp!, GSL, Lookout!, and Kill Rock Stars. Mordam was sold out right to Lumberjack in 2005. In addition to Doghouse, Lumberjack distributed labels like Deathwish, Ferret, Trustkill, Level Plane, Eulogy, at least before the merger. With the exception of Deathwish, a lot of those labels are shells of their former selves, in part to some of their own management problems. But losing a ton of money to their distributor probably didn't help. They had lots of problems paying labels, and toward the end, a lot of labels left, abandoning stock if they couldn't get it back, never getting paid. I'm from San Diego originally, and I remember 31G getting an article about it here. That's early 2006. They had problems immediately after the merger paying labels. Gold Standard Labs shuttered in 2007 partly because of it. Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of Doghouse releases. TGUK, Weatherbox, Limbeck, Say Anything, etc. And I'm glad ETR is re-issuing stuff, because it should be out there on that format. But reading about all of that just made me think twice whenever Doghouse would re-issue Four Minute Mile. Matt even mentioned on his podcast that they have to bug Dirk a lot to get royalties for that album. But hey, licensing it out means less theoretical profit for Doghouse.
