My first impression seeing that album artwork? *puke* 'God this is bound to be horrible'...

Then I listened to the single. Wow. That was great.  Was energetic. Eddie sounded great. Enjoyed the melody and song structure. Hand up - I'm not a huge PJ fan (other than their early 90's stuff), so I haven't paid attention to really anything they've put out this century. Is this a 'return to form' or in line with their recent stuff?

Honestly, I'm just peeved that I'm going to have to buy this record when it comes out and this artwork is so damn bad.

I was NOT a fan of their last album, except for one odd song. This song, to me, reveals a more powerful sound than we've not seen in a long time. I don't mind their lighter ballad stuff, I was a big fan of the Lightning Bolt album. This new song has me very excited and hopeful that we're going to get a whole album of rocking songs with heavy as hell drums. We will see...

Nice. Lately I've been dipping my toes into japanese jazz. There's this trombinist named hiro suzuki from the early 70s who realy got me into it. Extremely underrated at the time. Check out "Cat" from 75 I believe. I get a Herbie Hancock/Chick Corea vibe from it. Really good

This is the last track from that album

Definitely listened to you the first time you recommended The Cat. Great album. I still need to buy a copy.

"Post-covid" I really slowed down, but I did get a couple of things I'm stoked on.

This post is part of it:

Apparently I don't know how to imbed anymore. It's the orange cover DK Fresh Fruit.

Nice! Bought that when it came out. It's part of the reason why my parents took my records away when I was a kid. I was walking around the house singing "I Hate Children" by the Adolescents(singer Tony and I had a laugh about that on Myspace since we both became teachers) and "Kill the Poor". I tried to explain to my parents the real meaning behind that song and the others by DK and they wouldn't have it. LUCKILY, my dad kept the records and I found them in pristine condition about 15 years later.

  4. Another way that I am dealing with FOMO is to tell myself that if I really want that record a year from now, it won't be a big deal to pay say $100+ for it, because I have already saved so much money not buying at standard retail. It all adds up so quickly. I'd rather have one amazing record than 4 that are good or okay. I think this will also make my collection more carefully curated, rather than blind buys of things that I listen to a few times and shelve. I'm actually proud of the self control I have shown, recently.
