  1. Boy that egret t-shirt looks a lot like the cover of Angel Dust.
  2. Be a shame if his address got out somehow.
  3. I had never even heard of it until just now. Certainly one of their best and might be one of the best songs I've ever heard. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
  4. Can at least guarantee that no twenty-somethings know what Sears & Roebuck means.
  5. So stoked. Wish shipping wasn't $8.75 for a 2XLP though... to wait for Amazon or pay a few extra bucks for a signed insert?
  6. So glad someone not me bumped it this time! Can't believe that comp is the only thing they're doing for their 25th. Hopefully it means all the albums represented have been remastered?
  7. Whack! Oh well I went back and added a t-shirt so I guess their scam worked.
  8. I'm guessing you'll be able to pick up those variants separately one way or another. They'll either post extras or someone with buyer's remorse will offer them up even if they do sell out (not sure they will either). Incidentally, if that bundle included shipping, I wouldn't hesitate even though I only like the records and the mug: the 3-record bundle was $13 shipping to Chicago as there's no media mail option.
  9. Ordering the 3-pack base bundle like a basic bitch. Wish I could swap that album art t-shirt for literally any other t-shirt. Mug is kinda cool though.
  10. Oh sweet holy emo Jesus IT IS ON! https://twitter.com/jadetree/status/644154988307042304 (no idea how to embed on this board)
  11. I worked for Flameshovel Records for a while back in 2004. They were distributed by Southern and there were lots of copies of all the Southern releases there, including Karate's stuff. I remember thinking, "I love these records but these will never sell through." I am bad at predictions I guess.
  12. Didn't even know this existed. That's my morning music sorted! Thanks for bringing to my attention!
  13. Oh man that's a real shame- "Soar" is a great record! "Sky Flying By" is an indie classic! I love everything from this band through YAFMO. The S/T and "Billy" are kinda weak IMO but I listened to my taped copies of all of them a lot in high school and college. I have the white Hopeless press of Astray- may pick up a black to see if it sounds better.
  14. Didn't someone say recently that this would never ever happen because T&N sold their souls to some major label conglomerate? Hope it's legit as this record rules hard. Would love an expanded edition with "Justice Prevails" & "Vengeance Factor." Those are the only tracks I know of from the CC era- are there others that Napster didn't provide me in my dorm room?
  15. This record sounds indistinguishable from his last solo record to me. Which is to say it probably won't get heavy rotation but it's okay. Incidentally, I have an extra ticket to the Chicago show. Not sold out but help a brotha out with a PM if you're going to get a ticket anyway!
  16. Oh man, the Operation: Sand 7" was super important to me back in the day. I'd really rather they re-releases Unsolved w/ all the additional random tracks on it though. My copy is still sealed for some reason and now I'll probably never open it because I'm the worst. "Nerve" and "Cherry Coke" are two of the greatest songs ever written. Geoff used to do a weekly "artist in residence" show at a bar here in Chicago and I was always really bummed that I never made it out. Until I listened to his interview on the Washed Up Emo podcast where he said he mostly played ragtime at those shows and was glad he didn't have to play all those old songs he's embarrassed to have written. Paraphrasing, of course, but that's the feeling I got from him. Too bad- really important music for me.
  17. Bought this record when it came out and listened to it maybe once. Was seriously underwhelmed. Emailed Merge at the time to ask if the insert was only meant to have half the lyrics on it- they told me they were all like that but it was a mistake. Wonder if they'll fix it. Wonder if I'll like it better these days. Their first record, the singles collection and Four are some of my favorite records of the era though. Great band- just didn't dig on their later work. Would love a Leopard Gecko/Sub Pop boxset!
  18. This new Good Life Song sounds a lot to me like somewhat more major key new Cursive- mild, meandering indie rock. Still bought the deluxe because I will always support the members of Cursive but I preferred the weirder Good Life of Novena and Black Out just as I preferred the harder Cursive of Domestica. I loved The Game of Monogamy, though- maybe that one just connected more lyrically?
  19. This record is fantastic. Bought it at my friends short-lived indie CD store the day it came out and I had listened to it in my car 50 times before I learned that a lot of people didn't like it. Haven't listened to it in a while so this is a good reminder to rectify that! I didn't know the song order had changed- clarification?
  20. I got mine in the other day and listened to the first two last night. My copy of Black Out is kinda janky- one edge of the record looks like a normal record and one is like a thick lump, like it was pressed at an off angle. No issues with sound that I could tell (other than a pretty hard chunk of something in one of the grooves I had to excise) but I'm curious if anyone else has a similar-looking copy.
  21. Debating if I need to upgrade the "Happily Deranged" cassingle I got from a box of cereal when I was in middle school. Pretty much a nostalgia purchase but damn... that's some heavy nostalgia.
