I have found recently the amount of scammers have increased dramatically. I am being scammed as we speak, but it appears that Paypal disputes are focussing dodgy sellers' attention some what so I am going down that route as early as possible when things seem fishy. It is not the same as a claim so the seller can walk out with reputation intact, but it certainly helps getting the responses that are otherwise slow to come... Funny though, that still excuses are made like "I have a really bad post office" or "I posted it but they have not scanned it yet so it only says electronic shipping notification in tracking". Lame.

Well, you know how it is. Unless they have scammed you, it is hard to call them out. Only because it is 3 people at the same time, which makes this accumulatively worse, does not mean that they all have conspired to mess you around. Some people are shit with their finances but still want to "reserve" a record before someone else. I'd give them a timeframe by when you want to have this concluded and after which you put these back into the sale bin. So unless they act like d*cks or do one of the classic scam artistry I would not call them out. IMHO

It just regulates expectation. In bargaining both sides say what their starting position is and usually meet somewhere in the middle. If I say I want $100 and the buyer then offers $50 we may end up at $75 If I don't say anything and wait for the buyer, he may start with $70 as he doesn't want to lo-ball me and we end up at $85 So the one that makes the offer is at a disadvantage as it has been said before. And for me as predominantly being a buyer, this is not so great.

I just think there, could be a better way to deal with this.... Generally if someone says "No reply to how much mails" then this is plain stupid, either you know what your vinyl is worth and you reply with a not less than x response or you don't and then you reply with a make a good offer and we deal. I understand that if you get 15 pms that all just want to know, how much for this, but where in the world does selling something mean that you don't have to put effort in if you want to sell your gear, and being rude about it is a bad way to start a deal. Why not say that you accept offers in $5 increments and you will reply when a good price is reached? But all this don't bother me with questions sends only a lazy, arrogant message and makes trading tedious.

Agreeing ppd, without establishing shipping destination is tricky. However it gives you the starting point. If shipping in US is $x and you agree $100ppd based on US internal shipping then you simply ask (as agreetodisagree says) for the postage receipt. Then you send him the amount on the receipt MINUS the $x it would have been for US shipping as that is what would have been included if you were in the US. $37 for 3 LPs is what I pay for shipping to the UK, not sure about US to CAN costs, but it seems high. Let us know how it works out.

jaimelozanojr on ebay. Bought record Aug 12th, paid $160 plus priority shipping in US with tracking. No response from seller on shipping update. Mailed Aug 20th to enquire and got story that "somebody in the family died" and "I am driving to post office right now!". I gave my condolences and ask when he has a chance to update the status and send me tracking info. No response. 2 more reminders, being understanding that it is a difficult time, but if he could please send me info. No reply. Opened a case and still no reply. Paypal refund today. Sucks. I rather have the record.

Moonbeams and I have decided to pull this away from this thread and have clarified the allegations and all the back story which has nothing to do with VC. Bottom line is that lessons have been learned and I am sure that if he would have been a bidder on an auction where the seller had done the same he would have felt equally the same as we did. People make mistakes and they live or die with the way they deal with these. Being outspoken here and admitting a mistake to learn from it is a big thing to do. I have seen other people trying to justify their actions to the bitter end. Moonbeams is not that kind of guy. He actually listens and takes advice, and that makes him an upstanding member in a trading community. So let the feedback he has on here and on ebay speak for itself and draw a line. The Wiki is the wiki.... only so much, you did not just delete your work but the work of others. Including mine and that pissed me off. I am grateful that you were looking for records for me, but I am shocked that you spent money on it as I never wanted you too. I would have happily traded you something, but you only told me you were looking and they were gone, and not more. In any case I think it is all water under the bridge what happened over there, and from the hippocrits that flame you there and buy here I don't think much of anyway. I have always been straight with you over there and hence my post here, I am not altogether surprised you don't like what I have to say but you have admitted yourself that it was not right what you have done. I have seen pms from you to others that also painted a picture. If you are interested in what I am referring to pm me as I won't use that same paint a picture from a transaction that I am/was not involved in. I am just very disappointed as I could have been one of the people bidding..and tat for me is a cardinal sin in a community that trades which is largely built on trust.

I never sought vengeance, I am just telling you how it is. The evidence stands that people called you out about shill bidding, you then pulled the auction and for a day or so explained in a relisted auction what you had done, until you decided to remove that part, maybe a wise choice as TPTB on ebay may not appreciate your self deprecating honesty as much as this board does. I felt similar about you but I was first incensed on your blatant attempt to delete pages on the wiki (yes you wrote most of them, but still I spend many hours tidying code so you rubbished my time too) and secondly that I saw pm's you wrote where you were very open about maximising your return from NOFX collectors. So call me cynical but respect needs to go both ways to be valued.
