^ Yea I got my from Boomkat 4 days ago and I was pleasantly surprised with the direction considering their last little EP (stare)...Both are fantastic regardless... And yes a full length would be epic! But very doubtful...Nils BLEW UP in the past year and Olafur is constantly getting offers for soundtracks / working on soundtracks, as well as his contract with Mercury.. but who knows... Everyone should also check out the latest ERASED TAPES release, by Rival Consoles....His newest LP - He is a little more electronic then ambient, but I think he is the best electronic artist out their (granted I don't listen to much straight electro) http://www.erasedtapes.com There is a limited RED edition for HOWL...bit pricey for us, US folks but its Erased Tapes so its usually 100% worth every penny!

^ I too was pretty impressed with the cover, I was expecting something more "cheesy" but its really quite unique and well made! My clear copy is a little on the quite side. Nothing drastic but just noticed after playing 5 other records before it I hard to crank up the volume a bit to get the same volume...regardless, a great album! Damn August was a great month for releases...- 329 replies

BEST NEWS! New album by, Rafael Anton Irisarri, A Fragile Geography - on Room40 (lawrence english's label) By far my favorite ambient artist! You can hear 1 track that is epic, here: http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.aspx?id=31038 Room40 does limited color edition (numbers are never released) but usually pretty small. So jump on the variant right away if interested! http://emporium.room40.org/products/558023-rafael-anton-irisarri-a-fragile-geography The aus dollar is much lower than usa, so it only comes to $26 shipped from Australia!! Highly Recommended!!!

After contacting ET...looks like this is a large worldwide release. Despite the limited edition/2 weeks only language, many stores will have this!! As well as quite a few online stores. With almost all those being in UK, with exception of Forced Exposure... If your in the USA, it is $16-17 shipped versus if you order from Boomkat.com its about $14 shipped!! But act fast Boomkat sells out of limited edition stuff pretty quick!!! (and who knows how many they got!) They also have samples of both songs.... ------------------------- Someone made a thread for the TIM HECKER reissue on Lawrence English's room40 label....A OOP 7" now pressed onto a 12" by LUPO in Berlin! Don't sleep on this one...

Second dose of ambient Labels: Dronavium: This label is in my top 3 of ambient labels. Hailing from Moscow, they have put out spectacular release after release. The most current release, by Olan Mill (Cavade Morlem) is a stunner! And I its still for sale. Almost every single Dronavium physical release is sold out! No vinyl yet but with releases like these buying a CD is tempting. Key Artists; Olan Mill, Caught In The Wake Forever, Pillowdiver, The Green Kingdom, Marsen Jules and Sima Kim. Start with their fantastic compilation: (15 Shades of White) the best ambient comp I've ever heard! https://dronarivm.bandcamp.com/album/15-shades-of-white Listen Here: https://dronarivm.bandcamp.com Eilean Records: (?) the label is based on a map with 100 points. each point is associated to a number. each number to a release. Sadly, every single release is SOLD OUT! I was lucky enough to snag the Aaron Martin album, but what does that say about the label? CDs only again, but pretty well made ones at that! Some of the best ambient/classical out their... Key Artists: Aaron Martin, Twigs & Yarn, Pascal Savy, James Murry, Danny Clay and Spheruleus Listen Here: https://eileanrec.bandcamp.com Students of Decay: (USA) Some of you may be aware of these guys. Some real nice experimental stuff being put out. They press VINYL thank god, and even do special editions once in a blue moon! Key Artists: Kyle Bobby Dunn, Marble Sky, Alex Cobb, *Secret Pyramid*, Aquarelle and Bryter Layter They have a nice set up for their website with sample songs next to the description! I believe everything gets a vinyl pressing (except 1) so if your looking for a vinyl ambient label you've found your home! Check them out: http://studentsofdecay.com Listen: https://soundcloud.com/studentsofdecay Go explore my friends!!! I would recommend starting with the 15 Shades compilation as well as Secret Pyramid on SOD...

I am going to do a short run of posts centered around ambient Labels. I feel that most ambient/experimental labels are fairly consistent across releases. That being said, if you like 1 artist you are bound to like a few more on a given label. To help people out to find new artists I will post fairly regularly solid labels I really enjoy! To kick things off lets start with, THREE labels. Here we go!!! (also its pretty darn common among all these labels to find 1 artist releasing albums on the many different labels) Hibernate ( http://hibernate-recs.co.uk) This UK label has put out many beautiful albums, primarily in CD format, but do have few vinyl releases. Key Artists include; Olan Mill, Ian Hawgood, Storm Noir, Field Rotation, Felicia Atkinson, Wil Bolton, Memory Drawings and Simon Bainton. Have a listen: https://hibernate.bandcamp.com/merch Flau ( http://www.flau.jp/artists.html) The Japanese label is more diverse than most ambient teams. Venturing into fields such as dream-pop, electronic, classical, drones, ambient, and experimental. They rarely put out a bad album. Several Key Artists include: Cuushe, Part Timer, The Boats, Danny Norbury, SELA, Neon Cloud, Orla Wren, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma and Masayoshi Fujita Listen for yourself: https://flau.bandcamp.com Unknown Tone Records ( http://www.unknowntonerecords.com) A husband and wife run, Oklahoma based label that sticks to ambient, experimental and noise. You can find several amazing albums, however this label tends to have some albums that fall off the wagon a bit. Regardless there are several Key Artists such as; Sima Kim, Dylan Golden Aycock, Porya Hatami, Monolyth & Colbolt, Maps and Diagrams and Atlantis. Go open your ears at: https://unknowntonerecords.bandcamp.com I hope you guys find some new tunes to enjoy...I want to keep this thread alive and healthy as its been, so anyone may feel free to leave feedback, questions or let us know an Album (or 2) you really enjoy related to the above! ...Happy Hunting...

These were just pulled from google images....The blue part is a textured fabric, where as the red is a thick lightly textured cardboard....it has two printed inner sleeves with really nice paintings and track list info.... all Sonic Pieces are the same packaging just different color schemes and insert artwork...

Sigur Rós - ágætis byrjun expanded limited edition
nelso330 replied to freverend's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I am a little bummed this is going to be exactly like the first press...I like it when they change things up (even slightly) for each pressing... I am sure this new press will bring down the value of the first significantly.....I'd never part with my first press but I like the fact it was worth close to $200 lol... -

It's always a challenge when your first album is such a great record to put out a solid second album. Sadly it was a swing and a miss! This new album shows a lot more promise!! -
It worries me a little that there are more and more sonic pieces fans. It's a good thing as they might have to increase the pressing numbers. Or it's just going to be that much harder to secure a copy, with only 350-450 being pressed for each release! Although they may just do what they did with Pino, that was there first "popular" release and I love how they kept it "limited/collector" copies then a repress with little less aesthetic - guessing this is what will happen!?

The LP for Moon Ate The Dark is SOLD OUT! Anost is always faster than SP btw...mine was attempted to be delivered today...bummed I missed it, can't wait to spin this...glad those that are new to SP are really enjoying the LPs - I wasn't lying that they are the highest quality for an LP you can get!~

Wow I can't get over how much they sound EXACTLY like Whirr...I feel like they are copying them a little too much?? Does that kind of ruin it for people when a band almost sounds identical...IDK May order cause it still is solid. And I LOVE TEN INCHES!
