  1. i didnt hate the finale but ive come to accept the show for what it is and to not expect more than that. ive given up on the idea that it will "get better." the show is definitely not the same as it was early on. early seasons are vastly different to later ones in terms of both tone and pace. frank darabont's departure was the start of these changes but the most noticeable differences are apparent after scott gimple was named the showrunner. im not gonna assume its all on him as nobody really knows the inner workings of the show in terms of budget, casting, etc. but im not really a fan of what hes done with the show overall - particularly all of the overly-dramatic character monologues. in any case, its pretty apparent to me that the show wants so badly to be game of thrones with a huge cast / epic story arc but doesnt currently have the budget or writing ability (or both) to pull it off.
  2. i didnt like purple. that album is weak/boring and i dont like the production at all (the artwork is on point though). if were comparing the two, emperor of sand stomps the shit outta purple.
  3. last half of the album is way better than the first half.
  4. There are PARTS that are heavy but i feel like theres way more clean vocals on this than previous records. It doesnt "feel" heavier than OMRTS in my opinion. Andromeda is probably the standout track.
  5. just... fuck it. i bought one. $15 in my paypal helped cushion the blow but lets be honest - the extra $10 prob would be worth it to not have to brave the absolute fucking shit show that is RSD to get a copy.
  6. its listed in the RSD pdf as a record store day first release - so its pretty much confirmed there will be a readily available variant after RSD.
  7. Corey Feldman Go 4 It (feat Snoop Dogg) b/w Everybody (feat Doc Ice) Jett Plastic Recordings7" 1000 FUCK YES.
  8. cartel coffee is definitely recommended. its been awhile since ive been to the tempe location but last i was there they had beer as well if youre into that. sip coffee and beer house in scottsdale is nice too (http://sipcoffeeandbeerhouse.com/). all the zia locations are pretty solid. if you go to one or two of them, youve pretty much seen them all though. rare records are definitely priced accordingly. double nickel collective is great if youre interested in punk / metal / hardcore (sounds like you are). king of the monsters have a booth in there with very affordable prices on a lot of stuff you can usually only find online. couple of the other vendors in there have some pretty inflated prices though. theres also the following: http://revolveraz.com/ - i prefer the 2nd st. and roosevelt location. looks like their other location moved since i was last there - so it might be improved but it wasnt so great in my opinion. http://www.stinkweeds.com/ - not much of a hardcore / punk / metal selection that i remember. mostly new stuff with a little bit of used scattered throughout. definitely geared more towards "the hipsters" https://www.yelp.com/biz/record-room-phoenix http://bookmans.com/ - i prob wouldnt recommend bookmans over these other places unless you have whole bunch of extra time on your hands. record selection is hit or miss (mosty really old stuff) - but i have found a gem or two there for cheap. theyre mostly a book store. they do have a little cafe / coffee place inside the mesa location though along with a lot of other vintage / used stuff (retro video games, used instruments, toys, laserdiscs, etc.). there used to be another store in the phoenix area owned by one of the dudes that was/is in landmine marathon (i think) but it may have closed. someone else on here probably knows better than i. im spacing the name right now.

  10. thats fair, i suppose. when relationship of command came out, i thought it was a lot more polished than their previous records though so i guess i wasnt really expecting that at this point either.
  11. given the full album about 5 play throughs and i am not afraid to call this the best thing theyve done since undoing ruin.
  12. guess im in the minority in thinking that the two new songs sound like a fairly logical continuation from where the band left off after 17 years.
  13. that refused record was truly horrible sans thought is blood and the new AF was just boring to me. for the most part, i dig the new ATDI tracks though.
  14. glad to hear they fully realized what a complete and utter piece of shit that last record was.
  15. that doesnt make a whole lot of sense on their part considering they were doing the alien thing during TEOATTC. id argue every record they did without a "look" completely sucked, anyway.
  16. every glow in the dark record ive listened to has sounded terrible. the aesthetic is cool but its the one "color" id steer clear of if you care about how your records sound.
  17. not really. i got what i paid for. ive listened to the records and enjoy them just the same. it doesnt mean im not going to be critical of something that was perceived by a fair amount of people as pretty disingenuous. i could also point out that their reasoning for a repress was that "too many" first pressings ended up in the hands of flippers when there was only a total of something like 10-12 boxsets (or 1% of the total pressing) combined in active/completed ebay listings at the time. orrrr that they almost instantly revamped the whole look of the boxset (arguably in a way that is more aesthetically appealing depending on which you prefer) + included a set of album art prints that the 1st press did not but ill digress from both of these points. theres certainly other ways they could have made those pieces of plastics with music etched into them available to everyone.
  18. ive said more than once on here that i pretty much dont care how a band chooses to release their music. dont say one thing though in the process of marketing the release and then turn around and do the exact opposite.
