  1. Looking for information about the latest Mondo release? Good news! They have a blog and a mailing list and they always post information to both before they release a new item.

The Mondo Records Thread - Show Posts Anyway?

I’ll buy someone’s alien test press for $58 and free shipping.
  3. Man, I just don't think he is a great songwriter at the piano. Lyrics aside, which are admittedly weak relative to previous output, there is an overall lack of rhythm or melody in his delivery. I'm not a musician so perhaps I articulated that poorly. It's a shame because sonically, this is the most interesting and personally appealing stuff I've heard from them. It's marred by a sort of prevailing incongruity. I'm not as harsh on it as you guys because I don't honestly think their first two albums are that great.
  4. AM is their second best record, you guys are crazy.

    VC Fantasy Baseball League

Hey Frog, PM me your paypal and I'll send you the $20! Sorry guys! I pretty much put this place and everything else on pause this year. Checked out on FFBB and never paid. My bad.

PO Now: The Bronx - V

Yes. That totally sucks. Did they go up at 7pst? Someone probably wasn't paying attention when they configured the page for today.

Try again? They are all still available when I add to cart.

Same here. Surprised they priced them so high but not buying wasn't really a consideration.

PO Now: The Bronx - V

Pumped to get Bronx III finally. I'm curious to see if there is any difference in SQ or Pressing with I & II. Either way, really nice for these to be getting a repress.

Official OST and Film Score Thread

Not a soundtrack exactly but this just came out and is full of kind of ambient, stringy goodness. If you like listening to soundtracks this is a great record.

    Hurricane Irma vs. VC

I think many of us would notice the lack of Bangin Banjo posts on IG first.
  14. Maybe the first two. I think I have the rest on record.
  15. There is endless amounts of this stuff. Much available on vinyl. Los Twangers is not, but check out the tracklist for the Spaguetti & Chili Western comp and you'll find a lot more.
  16. I might buy a print but I think I can live without the actual music.

PO NOW: Queens of the Stone Age - Villains (8/25)

I don't think they could put out a record that would bump one of those out of the top three. I like the new record. Some solid stuff on there will give it a few more listens and see what sticks. Hideaway was maybe my favorite the first time through. That chorus.

PO - Brand New - Science Fiction

Full album is on YouTube if you didn't buy the record. The first 2:15 was pretty solid but it didn't do much for me after that.
  19. I liked these guys better when they weren't a band anymore.

PO NOW: Queens of the Stone Age - Villains (8/25)

I liked The Way You Used To Do much better. It sounded like something new from them, while the newer single just sounds like a Them Crooked Vultures B-Side. I'm really liking Boneface's work again. But I'd love to go back to the days when the art was pretty shitty but the records ruled.

    The Beer Thread

I lived in VT for about 15 years. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions! Hill Farmstead is about an hour or so from Stowe, but the lines can be long. It is your best, and generally only bet, if you want to have Hill without going to a beer bar. If you are cool with consuming it in a bar you don't generally need to drive that far. Prohibition Pig, Blackback Pub and Mad Taco are your best beer bars in the Stowe/Waterbury area. The Bench and The Reservoir are pretty solid as well. If you can travel near the Stowe area get up to the Mule Bar in Winooski (The Monkey next door also often has a great list) or down Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier. Both are about 20 minutes from Stowe are your best bet for beer lists full of great local stuff. Getting Alchemist beer is easy, just go there. Lawson's can be trickier but shouldn't be too bad. Just ask a bar tender at any of the bars with a decent list. Foam (in Burlington) and Frost (in Hinesburg) are less sought after but do decent beer. River Roost has been getting some love but they opened after I moved.

The Mondo Records Thread - Show Posts Anyway?

Not when half the stuff is novelty kitsch for dorks like me! I listen to the majority of my soundtracks, save a few, rarely to never. I buy this stuff almost exclusively for the quality of the art. There has been a noticeable quality dip in vision and execution in my opinion. They release so much now so it was bound to happen. I suspect the also make more money so good on them. Anyway. My unsolicited two cents. If y'all wonder why the thread title never gets updated anymore, there you go.
  23. The deal with Burlington College was a bad one and I suspect if he had made it to the general it would have been a much bigger deal. A lot of it is old news if you are from Vermont. It has been covered extensively by Seven Days and VT Digger for a few years if you feel like reading up
